When it comes to spring designing, I love to keep things as simple and natural as possible. Loose and casual and placed as if just picked and placed. This is another simple design and when completed really does look like the garden fell into a vase.
    Things to gather:
    - Dig to the back of the China cabinet and hunt out a pretty jug.
    - Hellebores - 10 or 12 stems depending on how big the jugs is.
    - Several pieces of Pieris.
    - Optional - a few sprigs of flowering tea-tree or manuka
Thank you to Vania and Darryl of Mangrove Creek farm for your time during our site visit to investigate how the early spring blooms are grown and also to New Zealand Blooms for transporting to share these beautiful blooms at a market near you.

Exquisite combo with that jug!!! Like a robin’s egg holding a fabulous spring bouquet! And good to know about daffodils!!! Had no idea they were so antisocial!!!

Hi Jesse, I'm pleased you loved the combo. As for the jug, I bought it because it was the colour I've been seeking for a repaint of the lounge walls in this house. I can tell you it was an excited visual moment. Now, the daffodils! That sappy juicy stuff is unkind to other flowers. There's a great mythological story behind that flower, which I think is worth sharing. Warm regards Astar

Astar, know you are enjoying the arrival of Spring in your lovely country. The flowers are beautiful! I love the color of your container! I shattered an exquisite vase today taking it into the church. I am still grieving! Thanks for your great tips! So glad to learn about the bleach!

Gorgeous. Jug, flowers. Thank you, Astar. I am so enjoying this series. I may only do forever botanicals now, but I adore the real and what you do with anything botanical.
Though they must be terribly busy, is there is any way you could spend more time with the growers? While I always think your videos are too short - greedy bugger that I am and such an artist and teacher you are, those videos were so incredibly interesting but too too short…. In any event, a big thank you to them for sharing with you… and us!

Hi Cheryl, noted. I can certainly spend more time with the growers. With this new series, we weren't sure how they would be received, but thankfully, everyone is loving them. More time is easy. Warm regards Astar
