The first Commander game he goes into /has/ to include CGB and Voxy.
Rarran on Tolarian Community College with Voxy
Now Rarran has to build a commander deck and play with either the professor or Bryan and Olivia. He also has to DEAL with his anxiety of meeting people irl nerd.
Why not with Voxy? They know each other, have collab in the past, and she is a MTG personality.

@@eldunae922 Because she doesn’t have her own commander group. But if Rarran ever does anything I am hoping it would be Brian, Olivia and voxy of course.
Plus both The Professor and Brian Kibler are great with new people getting into mtg. So any of those 2 shows including voxy of course would be perfection.
Or just go on worst possible with CGB. That’s what I would expect tbh
Nothing like some physical card gamba
My rule of thumb when I started, was to sleeve any card $1 or more. As my collection is hitting 10k cards +, this rule has changed to around $4+
So do you unsleeve old 1 dollar cards

Opening a box of cards is a great idea for making content.
If you want to play Commander, I highly recommend investing in Mana Base (Lands) cards. If you play with a bunch of basic lands, someone with good lands is going to school you.
Look at your cards, decide what commander you might want to play, then look up other commander decks that are the same colors - Copy their lands shamelessly, then see if any don't make sense in the context of your deck.

I went to my first prerelease ever for this set, and it was an awesome experience! We played 5 rounds, and I went 3 wins 2 losses

I always sleeve rares, mythics, foils, and any card with alternate art treatments like showcases. Even if they aren't worth anything much, those are the cards I want to keep safe.
Rarran will take to MtG like a bridesmaid at an open bar of a destination wedding. Very, very excited to see this journey unfold.
Another thing with packs, some packs have the 'hits' in different spots based off where they were printing. If I get packs like you did, I hold the stack of cards with the back looking up and move the last 3-4 cards from the bottom (in respect to how you are holding them) and move those to the top then flip the stack.
Dang, sad I missed this live! Coincidentally, I was playing commander with my brother and old college buddies, for the first time in years playing together in the flesh.
Rarran, you should try "Pauper" Commander as your first set of games, it will really let you start designing commander decks for cheap.

Nice to hear you'll be giving Arena another go. If you mind suggestions I think it could be a good idea to start playing some best of 3 matches cause it will give you a better understanding of the game in general.

Yes, Bloomburrow is probably the best of the last 3 sets released (about 10 months duration). It has great amounts of flavour, lore, and art expression.

Edit 2: Also I was playing the prerelease and could get a collector booster for pretty much box price so I did despite them being lottery tickets, pretty much I just want to spend my magic money on limited but anyways I opened a foil three tree city and a raised foil Lumra and I thought that was pretty good but it was hard nailing down a price because it was so early, turns out that was best pull I could possibly make and the three tree city paid for the booster

Yeah, they got some cards right in Alpha. Not much room for improvement on BoP, or lightning bolt, or Time Walk.
Gotta give them credit. For a game that's so power crept by time, that Birds and Bolt are still playable and Black Lotus is still too broken to see play, they were certainly cooking with that first set.
Magic went from a game that you play in between DnD sessions to a full TCG. It's honestly relieving that Magic hasn't been crept harder than Alpha in the 20 years they've been releasing sets.

if you really want to build a deck getting packs is the WORST way to, can be looking for a card and open 100+ packs and still not get it
