So important to change roles not just in rving. My husband had a stroke 6 years ago, and I do everything inside and outside. Not easy at all. One night a bad rain storm caused a leak thru the roof into the kitchen, forgot to bring in the 30’ awning, and the smoke alarm kept going off. Since I couldn’t stop the screeching, I took it and threw it outside. Solved! Keep changing roles, it builds such confidence and character.
As a solo female full timer and a retired RN, I was positive that Marissa would be fine. RVs can be daunting, but so is working in the hospital. Hooking things up to patients isn’t always easy!
Thank you for posting this because that was exactly what I thought I was like okay I have a Class B and I have a zero problems with any of this stuff. After I leave this comment I'm clicking off because I clicked off once and then I came back because I wanted to say something and then I'm going to leave. This is not directed to the person that I'm answering with the comment this is director to the RUclipsrs, there are a lot of women that watch your channel that are not interested in this demeaning attitude and this dumbass video and I'm clicking off now
You've got this, Marissa !!! It takes practice (...and everyone makes mistakes at some point...). But you did great! And it is important that you do the routine and drive, at least every once in a while but regularly. If Nathan should get sick or injured, God forbid, you'll be able to drive your family to safety and to help. Great job, Marissa! God bless!
6 years ago when I got my first RV, I was completely, totally overwhelmed. I watched so many videos on dumping tanks, and just all things RV. I was scared to death. I wouldn't drive the RV for 6 months because I was too scared to take it on the highway. Now it's all second nature, although dumping tanks still not my favorite LOL.
Great job Marrisa! Congratulations Nathan for wearing the stress so well! It was also refreshing to see your kids thanking you. They are wonderful ambassadors of the fulltime rv world of kids. You both have done a great job.
I think Marissa did great, and over the years I have seen Nathan make several ooops backing into sights. IMO, it is extremely important for both to switch up roles incase of one is in an accident or gets eaten by a bear, whatever, set a schedule and do this on a regular basis, if nothing else to keep a sincere appreciation of each other's efforts. THANK YOU for sharing.
Always pull the gray tank first to make sure your connections are good, for 2 seconds!. Shut off the Gray and then dump the black, when empty, dump the gray tank to help clean the stinky slinky!
It's so important for both partners to know, understand, and be able to do each other's usually assigned RV tasks. I live in North Idaho and have a good friend who also lives here, she and her husband are "snowbirds". A few years ago, while wintering in southern Arizona, her husband suffered a minor stroke. They received excellent care and he survived the incident very well, but his vision was impaired in both eyes badly enough that he could not drive. My friend had never driven their Class A, had no clue how to do any of the "outside" chores, but it was imperative that they return to their home base here in Idaho ASAP, so she learned it all in all hurry, on the fly. Her husband was able to help her in many ways, and she's told me the setup/tear down routines didn't intimidate her so much as the actual driving/parking/backing did. The following two winters they did not go south, but stayed in Idaho, to provide rehab time for her husband. And while he eventually made a 99% recovery, and his vision did improve over time, it didn't improve enough for him to pass a driver's test. They are back to snowbirding every winter, but now she's the driver, having gained tons of self-confidence concerning her abilities to master tasks she'd never dreamed she'd even need to even think about trying.
So important for both to know how to do everything! My wife needed to drive after I was in an accident that left me w/multiple broken bones - and on Valium to handle the pain. Five hours on the road was a challenge for her, but not a problem as she had practiced a few times each year.
Ok Nate. The first time my bride towed our boat. Gave her a few pointers and we took off. First turn I just said take it wide because of the trailer and we were gold. After that, never had to say a word. Rock Star. Give him hell Marissa !!!!!!!
Narissa did a great job. Backing up is always fun. It is a 50:50 chance that you can turn the tires in the correct direction that they have to go! Beautiful western Washington and sleepy fishing and tourist towns. Enjoy your travels.
This makes me so happy to see Newhalem! We’ve been going there for over 25 years. It’s actually the first campground we ever stayed in when our young family started rving.
I'm retired and grew up camping. My husband won't retire for another 6 years and though we have tent camped we wanted to get up off the ground. So we bought a popup when I retired. This way I could go camping with! Brother and 2 SIL's. He was a farmer and backing trailers comes second nature to him, not to me. So I practiced with my lawn mower and garden wagon, still I needed my brother to not only spot but actually tell me which way to turn the steering wheel. This spring we traded the popup for a 25 foot Alta 1900MMK. And I have gotten pretty proficient backing it in to our driveway and was able to back into a site in July with one swing. Granted it was a driver side turn. I'm also the one who supervises the dumping when we camp together. It is important I think for both to be able to tow, setup, and teardown. Keep on letting us join your journey and teaching your kids with hands on classroom.
You were literally in our backyard on this video in Sedro Woolley. Lots of family history. Super bummed we didn't know. For some reason, we are not receiving notifications when you post even though I have the bell selected. I hope you both enjoyed WA. There really is no other state like it in all of the US. We have been following you guys now for about 3.5 yrs. We love everything you post. Just last week, we followed your footsteps and had the privilege of visiting the Jerry Johnson Hot Springs and Lolo pass hot springs. It was a super good treat. Thank you and hopefully someday will get to meet.
Great job! I will say this is why a motorized unit appeals to me, and I like your unit! I think it may be more user friendly than a towable as far as driving . This is on my bucket list to switch driving roles. I have helped with most everything else. We have a 34’ airstream trailer, a gooseneck living quarters horse trailer, and I tow a small horse trailer and I still can’t back up to save my life. The living quarters horse trailer scares me way more at the thought of towing than the airstream. So far, my towing rules are 1) Get in the right lane 2) Stay in the right lane 3) If it involves backing up, simply avoid and only do situations where I pull forward. I don’t know why, but so far, hubby has not relinquished control of our 34’ airstream classic. He wants us to find a huge empty parking lot to practice first.
@@LessJunkMoreJourney ...So Nathan, when will you be doing the Navigation, Lodging arrangements, and the kids meals and home-schooling on the road??? 😂
OMG! You just did what I've been avoiding for 4 years! I have no problem driving our Tiffin Class C, but I don't want to learn all the outdoor stuff. I like inside set up, so a great BIG kudos for doing it so well. You rock, girrlll. :)
We use headsets when parking, and our language is ‘bring the back end more to the drivers side, more to the passenger side, etc.’ great job Marissa! I occasionally dump our tanks, hook up water/electric etc in case something happens to my husband. I do drive our 38’ Class A but not as much as I would like because my driving stresses him out!!
You go girl. Last year my hubby got sick on the road and I had to pull our rig. It didn't take long to get comfy and now I drive most of the time. Oh yeah, we sometime snap at each other, but that's another convo. Confidence grows with experience.
I agree with so many of the comments of "you must switch roles with your partner." me and my wife switch often with our camper roles. My father has recently become unable to drive, so my mom does everything camper related. So it's important to learn the roles to know what needs to be done in an emergency, or if one is sick and unable to drive. Nathan needs to do the homeschooling on the next video!
Marissa you did just fine. The more you do it the more comfortable you will become. So keep on doing what you’re doing until you are totally 100% comfortable. I’ve known many couples that were in your situation. The man did the outside and the woman did the inside. Then the man passes away, and the woman end up selling the RV. My sweetheart passed away last January. Luckily, I knew how to set up everything and that included taking the truck camper on and off from the truck. We were one month shy of 18 years full timing. We retired our fifth wheel on a lot in Arizona and travel exclusively in a truck camper. Yes there were a few things I had to learn, thank goodness I had a tremendous amount of help from RV folks at our park and also the wonderful RUclips videos. Ralph and I often talked about when one of us would meet the Lord that the other one should continue to travel and carry the other ones ashes and that is what I am doing. So I want you to keep on driving and setting up the outside until you can do it in your sleep. You are a nurse and a mom and those are the two hardest jobs out there, so I know you can do this. I’ve enjoyed your videos so much. You have a wonderful husband and beautiful children. God bless you all.❤️🙏
So sorry to hear of your husband’s passing, it is important to understand how to do all the jobs. Thank you for sharing your story with me and encouraging me.
My hometown is experiences a historic economic disaster where thousands of people are out of work and huge corporations are shutting down or being sold off. LJMJ videos give me something to look forward to each week; take my mind off of the problems here. Thank you!
Well our camper was a small one pulled by a pickup truck so it was no problem to set up. Marissa you are a smart lady. Thanks for the video. I watch so many music videos, you guys are the only campers I watch lately.
Nathan, just so you know Marissa's always had it! I was pretty sure she would do fine. You got her a little out of her comfort zone but it's important that she learn how to drive because there may become come a time when she has to. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give the kids a hug for me.
Oh Marissa! We've been Raving for 18-19 years and I have never done anything outside and only driven once. I do everything inside. He does the outside. We can be done in less than an hour with disconnect...less than 30 with connecting. I'm impressed! Good job!
It’s so important to know what to do. My hubby ended up in the hospital an hour from our rv. I had to break down, hook up, and get the dogs and head to the hospital. I’ve seen too many women who don’t know what to do.
This was really a great video. And this is why we have a smaller truck and a smaller travel trailer. Just in case......I ever have to drive. I do not feel comfortable towing. However I have driven a van for years. So I would LOVE this rig you all are traveling in right now. My van was a self-build. No black tanks. LOL Marissa....you have done a fantastic job !!!!! And I have to say, it is hard to be in reverse roles. My boyfriend is the navigator when we are traveling 99.5 percent of the time. But our travels have been in a van. I drive !!! But now that we have a travel trailer......Oh Lordy, the navigator has a tough job I tell ya, and I am not a good fit.
That was excellent!! It has only been the past 2 years that my husband, Dennis, has been doing the hooking up, towing, and backing in. Before that, it was all me but he learned a lot. (Dennis tolerated camping for me, now he's hooked!) One day he asked if he could try, we had travel trailers in those days. So I was you Nathan, LOL, very nervous. I can still do it all, but he has taken over and I'm fine with that. I have towed our 5th wheel, but I haven't backed it onto a site. The only thing he has yet to do is dump black water, but he has dumped gray. Close! So glad to see you are better, Nathan. I was thinking in your last video you were looking a little green and something was up. Thanks again Moss family. God bless.
O h yes Marissa has this! I have driven our class C short distances, but this summer we were across the country from our home base, we had a medical emergency, and my husband couldn't drive. I had to do everything, including driving home with a toad. All RVers need to be able to do everything!
Proud of you, Marissa! It’s really important to know this! Proud of you as well Nathan! Are you telling me it’s illegal to have children mow grass??!! We’re moving to TN in a few months from Deep South Texas! I’m too old to mow grass anymore! We usually fight over who gets to drive!😊
One last thought Nate and Marissa. I know all this flagging thought is a bit much since I did it for my entire carrier. But, I have seen so many RV channels that have phone or walkie talkies to back up. Backers say need more left turn. What the hell does that mean. If you are sitting in the truck, does that mean I need to turn the steering more left, or does it mean the back of the back of the trailer needs to go more left ? Left is 2 different things when you are sitting in the cab of the truck. Game plan, know what each one of you needs. The person in the back knows what is going on. Driver is at a loss, he can not see. Even with back up camera, only does so much. Person directing is is MAIN. Game plan, flagging plan, walkie plan, phone plan. Be on the same page !!!!!!
Well, we won't learn if we don't try. Teacher or self taught. Man or woman. Great job Marissa! Keep doing it, it can be a drill that could come in handy one day. If knowing what to do, it won't be done with a stressed mind. Thank you for sharing guys! :)
I drive a 25 ft B+ very similar to the Lineage, and I find it very easy and fun to drive and park. My late husband and I had a 27 ft TT that he was always trying to get me to pull, but I refused. Good job Marissa!
I do all the driving and towing the trailer. My husband does the hook up and breakdown, i do the water fill and dumping, he takes care of the dogs potty breaks while im doing that. I also take cars of the inside. Hubby does all the walk arounds and he directs me in backing into the sites. I dont like being a passenger as i can suffer from motion sickness. Hubby doesnt like driving as he had a long commute when he was working. So all in all it works great for both of us. Teamwork
The RV is my baby, I do it all. The boat is my husbands😂 Last month I drove with just the kids (no hubby) all the way from Alaska to North Dakota. Epic trip. I like the water hookup inside the compartment on your rig, that’s pretty cool you can leave the hose attached.
I have refused to learn how to do an oil change but not too pampered to wash a windshield. Recently, hubby and I reversed driving duties due to medical issues and now he understands better that the gps does not change direction immediately. Be prepared to share duties in case of emergencies. Keep on learning.
I never get tired of driving 20 and stopping at Oso once I turn at Rockport to get to Arlington. OSO is a small town where a major mudslide killed 43 people 10 years ago. A friend of mine lost her entire extended family, and her son lost his cousins/aunt uncle.
One thing I was taught was to change the water selector before turning on the water. They told me changing it while under pressure is hard on the valve.
She did great! You were up in my neck of the woods. Northern Washington! La Conner is a cute little town. Would have enjoyed a meet-up in Northern Wa, I’m sure a lot of us PNW folks would have loved to connect. Your channel was the first RUclips channel I followed and subscribed to.
C'mon Marissa. You're a full time RVer. You need to learn how to do everything. Nathan, good job coaching. I'm proud of Marissa for stepping up. Role reversal is tough.
Good job Marisa. It’s good to switch up jobs. Like most couples, I usually do the inside while hubby does the outside. However, I dump the tanks. Hubby does the driving, I navigate & be his second set of eyes.
Marissa you did a great job! I was laughing so hard the look on your face when you had to dump the tanks. 😂😂How did that go? Then I laughed at the gas station when Nathan said now you have to clean the windows. 😂😂 But you did a great job! I remember you driving the fifth wheel I think. Great video! Love you guys! ❤❤❤❤😊🤗 I was praying you could do it. 🙏 And you did it!
Great job Marissa! I still haven’t had my first try at pulling our fifth wheel and know it needs to happen soon. I can do all of the setup and take down though 😊.
It is important!
As a solo female full timer and a retired RN, I was positive that Marissa would be fine. RVs can be daunting, but so is working in the hospital. Hooking things up to patients isn’t always easy!

That's why I do try every RV, for the "just in case".
"Now, I need my coffee." Wise words. Next, let's see Nathan doing cooking, dishes, laundry, etc.
👏👏👏

I don’t think that’s anyone’s favorite 😅

Great job Marissa!! Can't get Terri to drive for nothing!! Been to LaConner TT a thousand times. We LOVE the town of LaConner!!!
Oh shoot! Keep trying, you never know - maybe one day. It really was a great spot
Ok Nate. The first time my bride towed our boat. Gave her a few pointers and we took off. First turn I just said take it wide because of the trailer and we were gold. After that, never had to say a word. Rock Star. Give him hell Marissa !!!!!!!

God bless.
💪💪💪
Way to go, Marissa!
Good job being the navigator and gopher in that reversed roll, Nathan.
👏👏👏
The fuel cap is brilliant! The cover is captured by the door so no one can steal gas
Yes, just hard to find 🤭
Melissa rules! Thanks for the hilarious movie clips. 😂
👏👏🤩
O h yes Marissa has this! I have driven our class C short distances, but this summer we were across the country from our home base, we had a medical emergency, and my husband couldn't drive. I had to do everything, including driving home with a toad. All RVers need to be able to do everything!
Sorry to hear that, it’s always good to be prepared!
Marissa…..totally agree with how you use your map!! It HAS to be displaying the route in the direction I’m traveling 😂
Totally!
Well done Marissa, you did great. ❤🇬🇧
💪💪💪🙌
Also I’m with you on how the map is. I like it to be pointing the way you want to go. I don’t care about having north at the top of the map.😊
Exactly!
Fabulous job Marissa. I truly need to do thus with my wife. Currently if something happened to me while on thr road there would be trouble.
Thanks! It was fun!
Both of you did a great job. Thanks
Thank you too!
Welcome to my neighborhood. It was fun to see you driving in an area I know. I begin my fulltime nomad journey this week. Grateful for your videos.
That’s amazing 🤩
Great job. She made it look really easy.
Thank you!
Well, we won't learn if we don't try. Teacher or self taught. Man or woman. Great job Marissa! Keep doing it, it can be a drill that could come in handy one day. If knowing what to do, it won't be done with a stressed mind. Thank you for sharing guys! :)
Exactly 👍
Congrats Marissa.. 👍👍 great job, we knew you could do it! 😊
Yes! Thank you!
Wat to go, Marissa!!! You are the woman!!!! ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏 Nathank needs to do a day doing all the iside stuff/meals/laundry!😘 Love from SC Jane
💪💪💪
I am a 70 yr old woman i drive a class A winnebago ALONE. 31' long set up . EASY.
If men can do ,i can do it.
Both drivers should be able to drive
You’re amazing 💪
I feel you on that hand strength. I struggle while my boys just zip right on through whatever it is!
Yes!
I feel you with “can I have the plan”.
😂😂😂😅
I drive a 25 ft B+ very similar to the Lineage, and I find it very easy and fun to drive and park. My late husband and I had a 27 ft TT that he was always trying to get me to pull, but I refused. Good job Marissa!
👏👏👏
I do all the driving and towing the trailer. My husband does the hook up and breakdown, i do the water fill and dumping, he takes care of the dogs potty breaks while im doing that. I also take cars of the inside. Hubby does all the walk arounds and he directs me in backing into the sites. I dont like being a passenger as i can suffer from motion sickness. Hubby doesnt like driving as he had a long commute when he was working. So all in all it works great for both of us. Teamwork
It’s all about teamwork 🙌
Great video! I am looking forward to seeing Nathan doing the laundry and dishes and home schooling the kids in an upcoming episode. ;-)
Yes me too 😂😅
The RV is my baby, I do it all. The boat is my husbands😂 Last month I drove with just the kids (no hubby) all the way from Alaska to North Dakota. Epic trip. I like the water hookup inside the compartment on your rig, that’s pretty cool you can leave the hose attached.
👏👏👏
Wow! You did fabulous!
Thank you so much!
Marisa, you were a nurse! Thus should be a piece of cake!
👏👏👏 yes it wasn’t too bad!
You both done great.
Thank you! 😊
I have refused to learn how to do an oil change but not too pampered to wash a windshield. Recently, hubby and I reversed driving duties due to medical issues and now he understands better that the gps does not change direction immediately. Be prepared to share duties in case of emergencies. Keep on learning.
We are always learning 🥰
congrats to both of you, great job.
Thank you so much 😀
I never get tired of driving 20 and stopping at Oso once I turn at Rockport to get to Arlington. OSO is a small town where a major mudslide killed 43 people 10 years ago. A friend of mine lost her entire extended family, and her son lost his cousins/aunt uncle.
That’s so heartbreaking 💔
Time is the best teacher. You go girl. Watch for dump blow out. Nate, take lessons from from the master, Marissa.
👏👏👏
thta was a sweet lookin classic chevy pick up you all passed up with a blue and white combination in color.
😊😊
Isn't it great to drive?! So proud of you, girl!
It was awesome 👏
Well, I was watching Matts, RV reviews and he told me to watch you'all!
So glad you found us!
One thing I was taught was to change the water selector before turning on the water. They told me changing it while under pressure is hard on the valve.
Thanks for the tip!
We loved it 😍
You did very well Marissa. This was kind of nice. You two work well together. Like you folks
Thank you!
C'mon Marissa. You're a full time RVer. You need to learn how to do everything. Nathan, good job coaching. I'm proud of Marissa for stepping up. Role reversal is tough.
So true!
AWESOME JOB!!!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I knew you could do it Marissa!
💪💪💪
Welcome to my (single lady) world, who does it ALL, alone. The anxiety that sometimes shows up from no where is normal, too. You did great!
I admire you!
Good for you getting out of your comfort zone. Now Nathan needs to do everything you do. You did good.
I think so too! 😅
Good job Marisa. It’s good to switch up jobs. Like most couples, I usually do the inside while hubby does the outside. However, I dump the tanks. Hubby does the driving, I navigate & be his second set of eyes.
Thanks! 😊
Great job Marissa !! I couldn’t drive a RV !! 😀😀😀😀
You can do it!
You guys need radios for backing and driving directions. A game changer and makes things much better. At least it did for us.
We should give them a try
Marissa you did a great job! I was laughing so hard the look on your face when you had to dump the tanks. 😂😂How did that go? Then I laughed at the gas station when Nathan said now you have to clean the windows. 😂😂 But you did a great job! I remember you driving the fifth wheel I think. Great video! Love you guys! ❤❤❤❤😊🤗 I was praying you could do it. 🙏 And you did it!
Thanks 😊. I had never washed my windshield at the gas station. 😂
@@LessJunkMoreJourney
I hardly do either unless it is really dirty. I love you Marissa! 🤗❤️💜💙🩷🩵
@@sherriweber7105 🥰🥰🥰
@@LessJunkMoreJourney
I love Nathan too! You both majestic a great husband and wife. 🥰😘🥰
Great job Marissa! I still haven’t had my first try at pulling our fifth wheel and know it needs to happen soon. I can do all of the setup and take down though 😊.
You can do it!
This was epic lol 😂 Awesome job Marissa!! You two should switch roles for a little while lol ❤❤❤❤
Thanks! 😊
I believe the vehicle has a rear camera. Great adventure! Good job driver and copilot!
Thanks 👍
Way to go, girl!
😊😊😊
