5:16 Bryce Harper’s first game back to his former team in DC after signing with the Phillies. He was being booed by the home crowd but the cheers from Phillies fans were louder. It was at Nationals Park but it’s really like a second home to Phillies fans.

Fun fact about the Jose Bautista bat flip. He signed a one day contract with the blue jays this past season to retire as a jay. As part of the ceremony, they revealed a mural of the bat flip on the side of a building in Toronto. Just to put it into perspective how influential that moment was for the team.

As a catcher for 8 years I was the subject of many tossed bats (often because they struck out or didn't know what to do with the bat). They can be dangerous.

The clip you guys are thinking about where Tatis got "In trouble" for a home run was a Grand Slam where San Diego was already up big and he swung on a 3-0 pitch. The Rangers manager cried about it as being against the unwritten rules and the next day someone got revenge hit by a pitch.
That one nobody complained about. That was a big home run in an elimination playoff game.

There's a certain feeling you get from knowing you hit a homer, that's when the flip happens. It's just like when you see a basketball player hold his arm up wrist bent when he just knows his shot will go in.

It’s crazy cause if you’ve ever played baseball, when you hit one on the sweet spot, you’ll know if it’s gone as soon as it touches the bat. Such a great feeling.

That was a bubblegum container that got dumped on that player’s head. I’m sure someone has mentioned this before, but there was a time when baseball players were the primary source of profit for chewing tobacco companies. They used to use it heavily. Baseball players seem to need stuff to chew on. These days they have lots of sunflower seeds and bubblegum to keep them occupied. I’m sure some still chew tobacco too. Anyway, I think I liked Big Papi’s bat flip the most. It was pretty relaxed.

3:34 "How often do you think it happens that they bat flip and then it doesn't go for a home run?" There's an unmistakeable feeling when you've really hammered the ball. There are times when you know without a doubt that it's going out. Most guys only flip the bat when they're absolutely certain. In the rare instances when it doesn't go out, it would be tremendously humliating even without boos and jeers.

Gotta watch some KBO, CPBL, and NPB bat flips. The culture and attitude about them is lightyears ahead of MLB. There are some savage ones there, and due to how much more common they are there, bat flips on foul balls aren't rare. 🤣 But hey, it's still entertaining!

9:18 I was at that game, about 30 feet from where the ball ended up. I don't remember much after it left the park aside from running up and down the concourse hugging complete strangers having the time of my life. This was the Mets' first home playoff game after Chase Utley took out Ruben Tejada with a dirty slide (if you haven't seen that yet, you should react to it!), and the "F*** Chase Utley" chants before the game set the stage for an incredible night. Playoff baseball is magical.

6:18 - 20th to be exact. 1987 World Series Game 4. This was a home team winners series so the Cardinals were down 2-1 but the Twins had struck first in the top of the 3rd. The Cards answered back to tie in the bottom half and then busted the game wide open in the fourth off the back of this home run from Tom Lawless for only his second Major League homer after going 2 for 25 during the regular season. This helped run Twins ace and eventual series MVP Frank Viola from the game. Following the home team trend, the Cards would go up 3-2 but then lose the last 2 in Minnesota to lose the series in 7.
7:34 - Same season but no. This was the 2020 Playoffs and that was during the regular season against the Rangers.
8:36 - No, that was Cleveland slugger Jose Ramirez. This is legendary Cleveland and Boston slugger Manny Ramirez (no relation).

2:17 - Delgado went 4-for-5, for the record. His 5th AB in the 9th, he hit the ball to the warning track. No one has ever hit 5 in a game. Worth noting, as well, that the first home run of the game was his 300th career homer. Carlos had a flair back in his day. Still a travesty he's not the the Hall, IMO.
3:33 - More often than you'd think. I believe both Puig and Carlos Gomez have both done it and gotten a *lot* of flack for it.
6:15 - I'm disappointed. I love Joey Bat's flip, but Lawless' flip is just so much better. Guy hit .080 in the regular season, hit 3 home runs in his MLB career, including that one, and had 1 hit in that series in 10 ABs. Yet he pimps it like he's Barry Bonds. The swagger of that guy who had _no_ right to have it is just hilarious. It should be #1 on any list. The only excuse for it not being there is not knowing about it.
