    The thing that gets me about the Earl Weaver clip, that usually no one notices. That was the Top of the 1st inning…😂. Game wasn’t even a half inning long, yet, and Earl was already in his own 7th inning stretch…😂

    Earl Weaver is the best...that little old dude was loved in Baltimore. If noticed.....he would walk away but when he turned back the crowd ROARED every time. I'm sure he knew that and just wanted to entertain thr home crowd. Billy Martin is another manager who liked to brawl with the umps. He was a hard nosed player and carried his tough guy style as a manager.

    10:40 Earl Weaver was awesome. That argument was in the very beginning of the game too. And Earl did indeed go onto the Hall of Fame

  • @lovesgucci1
    @lovesgucci1 Год назад +18

    The Terry Collins (Mets) argument stemmed from Chase Utley of the Dodger (former Phillies superstar, Mac from Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s crush) broke Mets Ruben Tejada leg while he was trying to break up a double play. So the pitcher was trying to hit Utley at the plate

    • @Noledad77
      @Noledad77 Год назад +1

      It was a dirty, dirty slide by Utley. He made zero effort to slide correctly (i.e., on time) and it looked intentional. Maybe not to break Tejada's leg, necessarily, but to injure for sure.

    • @lovesgucci1
      @lovesgucci1 Год назад +1

      It was intentional to break up a double play, not break his leg! Utley was also a 2nd baseman & got it almost as good as he gave it.

      I’m also glad that it’s illegal to do that now, no reason to get hurt in that way as commonly non-contact sport

    I would hate to be a player and keep quiet about umpires/refs. If it were me, I would start cutting checks for fine amounts and go off on the refs because some calls like baseball are bogus and umps are trigger happy to throw out players if they look at them funny or hell even breathe on them. But it's always a good show to watch people blow up at the umps/refs.

    As far as the Terry Collins incident: the player they were trying to hit was Chase Utley. He is a dirty player and everyone knows it. The year prior he slid into second base and deliberately broke the Mets shortstops leg in the playoffs. MLB teams have long memories and this was the very next time they faced each other.Terry was livid that MLB gave no punishment to Utley, so they attempted to take it into their own hands. He is so angry here because the umpire ejected the Mets pitcher before he was able to retaliate against Utley.

  • @jaykaufman9782

    Baseball managers and coaches wear the same uniform as players because there's a universal rule you can't be on the field wearing street clothes. That's why football, basketball, and hockey coaches aren't in uniform: There's never a reason for them to venture onto the field, the court, or the ice, and if they do step into the field of play, it's a penalty. In baseball, the manager or pitching coach goes to the mound to talk to a pitcher or pull him from the game, or discuss strategy and fielding assignments with the infielders. The third base coach and first base coach are relaying signals, yelling when to slide, when to take another base, etc. There have been managers who wore street clothes -- the famous Connie Mack from the early and mid-twentieth century is the most renowned -- but per the rules, they never set foot on the field. And unlike the other three big sports, baseball has had many dozens of player-managers, who of course had to be in uniform.

    I remember Daz, Dave, Mike one time commenting on the managers in baseball wearing uniforms. Even though I grew up with baseball ⚾ I see your point. All I'm saying I can't ever see a manager coming on the field to argue with a suit or khakis. Way back 100 yrs ago you would have player/managers so I'm guessing that's why managers dress in a players uniform. Last player/manager was Pete Rose in the mid 1980s right before he voluntarily signed to Dowd report which stipulated his lifetime ban from baseball.

      At least they would look like adults rather than preteens running out on the field in little league uniforms. It's not any less ridiculous than if bill belichick was roaming the sidelines wearing shoulder pads and a helmet with paint under each eye.
