    I got a couple of questions: Why did you put foam inside the hollow wood? You only brushed the wood with resin? (no fiberglass??) And how much does it weight?
    Thanks, and great job!

      The foam was to give it some support that was lost due to removal of the wood. In hindsight probably wasn’t necessary as the structure probably would have been strong enough. Just a bit of insurance.
      Yes I felt it was strong enough without fibreglass. I’m very careful with how I transport it as well. I carry it down to the beach in the case and put it straight in after the surf. Seems to work fine.
      Not sure on the weight. It is heavy, but once in the water I don’t seem to notice.
      Thanks

    Hi, It looks like you didn't fiberglass it. Did you glass it? If not, what did you seal it with? Thanks

    If you need balsa at Riley Balsa we can send it anywhere around the world - big sections 160mmx75mmx2900mm

    Great build. What did you coat it with? No glassing.

      thanks. no glassing, just lots of layers of resin and marine varnish. I assumed the balsa wood would be strong enough without the glassing. So far, so good.

    Hey... Can I ask where did you get the Balsa wood from?

    • @biltongFTB
      @biltongFTB  8 лет назад

      Ive just tried finding the website I got it from but could't find it unfortunately. They were 150mm x 150mm x 8ft reclaimed balsa. Might be able to find something out there. Good luck

    how did you know where to make the cavity sections at?

    • @biltongFTB
      @biltongFTB  7 лет назад

      the template at 2:18 showed where the edges would be before we glued it together so we just had to stay inside that. And didn't make in cavities where the fin boxes would sit.

    what is stuffing? it is necessary? air is better ?

    • @biltongFTB
      @biltongFTB  8 лет назад +1

      Its expanding foam. Just to give it extra support in the cavities. Probably didn't need it in hindsight as we left the balsa pretty thick
