Nah, we still catch shade. Millennials are known for being MUCH more socially conscious and caring about others. Gen Xers are the cynics who watched our baby boomer parents go from hippy to yuppie in the 1980s. X-/
so true! I am one of these millennials sadly. I am guilty of some of this crap- trying to be better and slowly reforming. Hope some other of us stray sheep begin to see the light, otherwise not much hope for the human race
It's almost like our entire generation's parents decided to let their TVs and early internet raise their kids and completely neglected to act as guides or mentors, and can now act shocked that it didn't pan out well. And now those kids are doing it to their own kids with their tablets and smartphones, just like they were taught. Good luck everyone, lol.
You sir, have nailed it - It starts at the home and Gen X parents totally failed their kids by doing some of the exact things you mentioned. I can clearly recall Shrek and Toy Story being on loop for a lot of single moms I dated back in the day lool

It does give them something concrete to do. Don't forget that SOMEONE made everyone a winner, so no effort is needed to be a winner if life. DATING HARLEY QUINN I think that OP's comment was not about getting a sense of accomplishment for ourselves. It was about what we should do for others to be fair to them.
But if you say "I can't write a book, I'm dyslexic", it's not rude to others. It's an excuse towards yourself only. Which may be bad for you, but not writing a book is not disrespectful to others. What I meant is that OP's comment was not about being good to ourselves, but to others.
You can't be pissed at someone that is not rude to you. Nobody could be pissed at you if you didn't write a book and used your condition as an excuse. You don't need to apologize to anyone for not writing a book, no matter what the reason is. It doesn't even make sense to find an excuse for that. But yes I got the message, your book is awesome. You are not mediocre if you are expressing your gifts(i.e. doing what you were meant to be doing. You can even do this as a hobby.). Unfortunately(maybe, but it was meant to be), I didn't find out my gifts until close to 60. In addition, I think I had to get a certain gift that was age dependent, before I could express my gifts fully. Once you do this, you will be way ahead of almost everyone, as they will still be flailing around-in a way, looking for their gifts.
As a millennial who has worked very hard for what he has, and knows quite a few other millennials who have done the same (oh, we've also fought the longest war in American history- and yes, I was a part of that), I get really tired of being told I haven't earned anything, much less respect.
I didn't learn about the word millennial until I was in my 30s already. I didn't think of myself belonging to a particular generation, more than anything else, I saw myself as an ADULT. It also took me some time to understand that the word was frequently used pejoratively. Huh, I thought, what's so bad about being born in 1981 instead of, say, 1974, like my older sister. I think the only sensible way to deal with the issue is not to give a damn. There's no use denying you are a millennial if you were born in that cursed bracket in contemporary history, but if people think being born a millennial defines who you are, then this person has a problem, not you.
I’ve been a nurse since 20 and ran entire units. Boomers and Gen Xers are so aggy 😂 They abused their kids and neglected an entire generation as kids and now we are the problem? HAHAHA! Boomies prostrate themselves to an employer and gov that…did nothing for them hahaha
That was my favourite. I see that you have gone to an even higher level of intelligent illiteracy where emojis stand for letters that say the words you're not saying.
When explaining something, don't forget to end every sentence with an upward inflection, like it's a question. Also say 'literally' all the time. Oh....and when you have a tantrum in public, call it protesting.
Violence, looting and even murder were also included in those "tantrums"...but it was Black on Black person violence; so if you only watch MSNBC/CNN for news you didn't hear about them.
I’m sorry. I know I’m so late to the game on this one! But I just found this channel and I’m hooked! I had a career for over 30 years at the same (veterinary) hospital. I was pushed out by employers who caved to millennials. It was disgusting. Hard work and dedication and LOYALTY meant nothing anymore. It became one giant clique and if you didn’t follow the leader you were “difficult to work with”. We were literally required to “give roses” out to people who did a good job. Whoever got the most roses won a prize. It was nothing but a popularity contest. Going out of my way on a regular basis for my clients was ignored because I always did those things. But someone else would get recognized for sweeping properly! When a coworker who had been there literally one tenth of the time I had been there was upset with me and I wanted to know why I was told we can’t get into it because she feels uncomfortable and it’s not fair. UGH!!!! Thanks for letting me vent! I LOVE THIS CHANNEL. You hit the nail on the head my friend!

One of the sweetest things about retiring was getting away from the millennials, their attitudes and lack of work ethic. The few with “old-fashioned” ways really stand out. They deserve all the success they work for so diligently.
"old fashioned"? Jesus Christ the baby boomers are full of themselves. That makes it sound like they invented the idea of "hard work". They didn't. They do however, love to get high by smelling their own farts.
I finally left the workforce two months ago for good at 73. The work ethics sucks with so many of the younger generation when you are at your desk working in overdrive all day long.
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers." Attributed to Socrates (469-399 B.C.) by his student Plato
When I first started reading this, i began to wonder what distant past generation was being talked about. Even with expecting it, i was surprised by how far back it was, lol. Goes to show ya, there will always be a generation gap.
that's because a lot of hate against millenials is unjustified and points against them ignore life situation (like it's much harder now to get a job, a good degree and earn a living (especially in america)). At the end it's just the typical "Younger generation sucks", which was always present.. So they get critized for changes, they didn't start.. Like using too much smartphones - in a world, where electronic devices get easier and easier to understand and use. Like everybode uses internet nowadays.. but it's the millenials who setting always on and typing badshit crazy comments how millenials sucks.. oh.. wait.. It's the generation prior to them who do this a lot .. on the internet. p.s everytime "I'll write a short comment" .. then this -_-

It has been bloody hard work, 60 hour weeks, since 1985 for me, and my friends over that time either worked their guts out and like me slept on couches or five room mates in a two bedroom tiny place, for years and years, or they had wealthy parents. It was one or the other. It has been a race of either hustle and work your guts and win, or fail, for as long as I've ever seen it. It's different today. Not harder, it's different. I so love being a gen xer. The transition from records to cassettes to digital cds to dvds. The transition from bod modems to dsl to t1 to cable to fiber. The transition from rabbit ear reception to cable to HBO and subscription channels to satellite to tivo to streaming. The transition from beta max to vhs to DVD to HD DVD to blu-ray to ultraviolet to streaming. The console games... so much innovation. Nowadays kids are defined by apps or phones it seems. Seems like stand still. I am happy to have gone from an age of bikes on a lawn indicating where my friends are to digital. It's like we were given the freedom of childhood and then the ability to communicate easily when we drifted apart.
I’ve experienced this also being born in 82 (the oldest of millennials). However the transition was sadly a bit quicker when things transitioned to texting and Facebook in my late high school /college years. Video games being more common in ppls homes in my mid-elementary years I noticed effected my interactions with my classmates in a way I didn’t really like since hanging out at some friends homes consisted of “hanging out” in front of the TV which wasn’t my thing.
"we were given the freedom of childhood and then the ability to communicate easily when we drifted apart." wow! what a great comment. Born 1973 here. I cant tell you how on point your sentence was. thanks for posting.
If someone has a gluten allergy then maybe that's understandable, medical condition and all. But the amount of self preferential demands is stupid and pointless. It's like: "Seriously, you want us to bow before your every demand, but don't want to bow to other's demands. Yet the only ones giving demands are you. "Or what, do you think you are the only ones who deserve freedom?"
Unique sense of humor ? You mean taking stereotypes of a group of people and caricaturing them as something they aren't without any depth and questionning ? That's so original...
We live in a society that the ludicrous is now the reality. Seems the older I get the more the truth hurts my brain. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa. 5:20.)
"When I was a kid I always won the medal on the team's track team. I was only the 18th fastest kid, but I always won the gold medal. So did everyone else on team....And the opposing team. Because we were all the best."
There's still medals for first and second, a participation trophy is the equivalent of letting a kid grab a toy from the dentist chest. The older millenials like myself at 32 didn't grow up with a phone in our hands and Facebook. We got it later. We had MSN and MySpace and for Americans AOL. I remember calling my best friends and talking on the phone for hours. We still believe in competition and working hard. I think we were the last sane group of people. It's that generation z that worries me and maybe the younger millenials. We are 26-42
And don't forget their tendency to start all sentences with "I feel like...", because of course feelings are absolutely paramount. You don't think, you feel. And your feelings are "your truth", because of course there is no such thing as objective reality. Only subjective truths that must be catered to as if they actually are objective reality. I feel like that's best for everyone. (Yup, the country is absolutely screwed)
I hope that the unproductive youth of today can adapt to the next version of organic farming where you follow an ox in a field fertilized with dung, barefoot, to raise food for oligarchs who force you to serve them. It's the purest form of "green farming". 🙄

Has JP done a video about parents who can not parent? For instance one guy I was speaking to said he was upset the public school system didn't teach kids more morals. I said that was weird, because last I checked that was the parents job. Then he said something to the effect that he and his wife don't have time for that, because they are working. Which I replied,"Why are you having kids if you don't want to raise them?" -Sounds of silence followed. OR I had a parent see me as I am treating her 9 year old child. I asked if the child was being compliant with said assignments. The parent said,"I can not make my child do what she needs to do. YOU, need to tell her what she needs to do; you are the professional." My jaw just about hit the floor... why have parents abandoned the act of parenting? They don't want to do any raising or guidance... they want random people who flitter through their lives to make the largest impression on their child. I can't stand it.
It's easier. People are literally neglecting their kids with the help of technology at home and expecting them to learn everything they need to learn about life from a public school system, media and the internet. Do you think it could partially be because most parents are more focused on providing material goods through working extra hours weekly rather than taking time to actually raise their children?
Parents don't have control over their kids 99% of the time. You can see that with bullying, where even the best parents couldn't intervene on time or school didn't take them seriously. Resulting in suicides, conflicting personality, mass shooting, etc. " teach kids more morals" Some parents do exactly what you want them to do like not allowing them sex education, sending them to conversion therapy and others.
Playing almost every sport growing up, the minute I got a medal that wasn’t earned, went right into the trash. No way I could show off a medal that didn’t say 1st/2nd/3rd. My friends would have just made fun of me.
Nowadays children are given participation trophies and their parents are proud of it. They're teaching their children how not to be competitive or actually try in winning something.
It's not even that I find participation trophies offensive... But they are completely pointless. It better be a participation medal for 'helped cure cancer' or something that is still some kind of achievement, not got last place in a race.
JP is the Satire GOAT yo!! @3:08 “awkward” is an amazing 27-word compound sentence that ironically explains using a single word to express oneself! 😎🐐🤣

This is true. In recent years, I have been on a genealogy jag. I have looked at the census records of past generations on my mother's side in Canada. It was rare for a household to have four or fewer residents. The norm was for elderly mothers, grown children with their spouses, or grown siblings of the main couple to be residing in the home, into their late 20s or 30s.

My grown children have a virtual life with their friends...while I struggle to stay connected and nurture a REAL family life!! They are distracted by keeping up with their image!

You can't be pissed at someone that is not rude to you. Nobody could be pissed at you if you didn't write a book and used your condition as an excuse. I hope that the unproductive youth of today can adapt to the next version of organic farming where you follow an ox in a field fertilized with dung, barefoot, to raise food for oligarchs who force you to serve them. It's the purest form of "green farming". 🙄
"Their tendency"... 'cause, uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh, our, uuuuhhhhhhhhhh, generation had no, uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, tendencies like that, right? We were just more radical and tubular, I guess.
"I love to go out and meet up with friends so that we can all sit down and look at our phones to message other friends who aren't there with us"
mtryon2011
I saw that like 10 years ago, and we could not belive our eyes.
One of my friends always organizes sleepovers at her house. I don't like it very much because I always sleep terribly (we sleep together in her bed) and her dog ends up taking all the bed for itself leaving me unable to change my sleeping position. Anyways, the thing is that my friend insists a lot, and when we are finally in the sleepover, SHE CAN'T LEAVE HER PHONE AWAY! We (my other friend and I) are watching a movie together and having fun while she keeps texting with other friends and with her new boyfriend who's gonna dump her the next month!! I don't understand!!! 🙄🤷🏼♀️
Aimi Moque I feel the same & I’m an adult. The only one who does not do this is my bff. She used to though, but I told her how what a waste of my time it was & she stopped. Time will tell who is your true friend & not as long as you tell her how you feel and she ignores you, you will see if she’s a true friend. Sad but true. Best of luck to you Sweetie! Maybe you can talk to your parents about it too - that always helps & it seems you’re on many levels of consciousness above your friend. She CAN comprehend, but WILL she?
@@The_Salty_Siren Thank you so much! 💕💫
I don't know if she'll listen to me, I think she will 🤔 I hope so 😂 right now, because of the virus, I don't have any rush to tell her, but I probably will any time in the future. Thanks again! ❤
@@aimimoque1155 And how old are you?
Has JP done a video about parents who can not parent? For instance one guy I was speaking to said he was upset the public school system didn't teach kids more morals. I said that was weird, because last I checked that was the parents job. Then he said something to the effect that he and his wife don't have time for that, because they are working. Which I replied,"Why are you having kids if you don't want to raise them?" -Sounds of silence followed.
OR I had a parent see me as I am treating her 9 year old child. I asked if the child was being compliant with said assignments. The parent said,"I can not make my child do what she needs to do. YOU, need to tell her what she needs to do; you are the professional."
My jaw just about hit the floor... why have parents abandoned the act of parenting? They don't want to do any raising or guidance... they want random people who flitter through their lives to make the largest impression on their child. I can't stand it.
AM MJ I know......people have lost their minds!
It's easier. People are literally neglecting their kids with the help of technology at home and expecting them to learn everything they need to learn about life from a public school system, media and the internet. Do you think it could partially be because most parents are more focused on providing material goods through working extra hours weekly rather than taking time to actually raise their children?
As a teacher, I can totally relate to what you said.
Parents don't have control over their kids 99% of the time. You can see that with bullying, where even the best parents couldn't intervene on time or school didn't take them seriously. Resulting in suicides, conflicting personality, mass shooting, etc.
" teach kids more morals"
Some parents do exactly what you want them to do like not allowing them sex education, sending them to conversion therapy and others.
This reminds me that the experiences of being an older millennial and younger millennial are drastically different.
@@Asfgxff Yup! I am 41. My understanding was I just made the cutoff for millennial
I was born in 1995, so by "definition" I am Gen Z. But I find myself sandwiched between people older and younger than me
@@ameygade1977 you're still a millennial, just the tail end
One problem you should have made a duck lipped kissy face when taking the selfie at the end, but other than that nailed it.

This was great, keep them coming. You are right on.
Every “dislike” on this is someone he’s describing.
True, I disliked the comments I didn't like in the comments of one comment 😂
I'm just pissed that my childhood was so confusing, like geeting cussed out and spanked for cussing and hitting.
Facts👏👏😄
I thought maybe the dislikes were still stuck in their parent’s basement.
and now they are truly protected since we cannot see the dislikes. :P
"It's like an intelligent form of illiteracy." ahahaha
Playing almost every sport growing up, the minute I got a medal that wasn’t earned, went right into the trash. No way I could show off a medal that didn’t say 1st/2nd/3rd. My friends would have just made fun of me.
Nowadays children are given participation trophies and their parents are proud of it. They're teaching their children how not to be competitive or actually try in winning something.
Medals that actually say what place you got? OMG WTF I am soooo triggered....
It's not even that I find participation trophies offensive... But they are completely pointless. It better be a participation medal for 'helped cure cancer' or something that is still some kind of achievement, not got last place in a race.
It's so everyone feels like a winner. It's the fact that your participating and part of a team that counts.
We received a medal for just showing up and knowing how to breath in and out without cliff notes.
JP is the Satire GOAT yo!! @3:08 “awkward” is an amazing 27-word compound sentence that ironically explains using a single word to express oneself! 😎🐐🤣
EVERYONE, please stop being offended. im a millennial and this was the most accurate & funny video. that's another thing about millennials- they get offended way too much.
Delilah Mast right! This video was funny and very accurate😂 I'm a millennial too hahahaaa
The offended responses are bots designed to direct conversation and spread disinformation.
I"m offended that you're not offended.
Delilah Mast I almost got offended by this too but realized I wasn't a millennial..
Delilah Mast 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You forgot to mention you like to travel to exotic locals, as part of your college internship, to take selfies with brown, impoverished children and post them as your profile picture.
Kal Plays word
Kal Plays lol
You just described my assanine cousin
Tom from myspace did that
So accurate
the worst term of the past 10 years..."haters are gonna hate..."....ugh....
Steve Selinsky that's him
yes, it completely stifles any form of contradiction or criticism, denies the right of someone else to express an opinion while at the same time labelling the person. Ugliness and coercion at its best.
Steve Selinsky Also ... YOLO... I m going to throw up and shoot my self now for saying that.
Steve Selinsky lol!! Haters gonna hate and ain’t’ers gonna ain’t.
Steve Selinsky Gen X.......
Love your strait face when delivering the sharpest realitychecks for a certain kind of people 😂😂😂
I'm a millennial and it's alarming how accurate this is. It's such a shame how so many ignorant and self centered young adults are painting us all in a bad light. There are some patriotic, free thinking, and respectful young adults out there. God bless America!
Well, than you're a millennial if you think you're roped in w these clowns. Good luck to you
Prepare to be cancelled 🙄.
I'm surprised you don't realize you could say the same thing about literally EVERY generation
God bless you all ❤️❤️❤️
@@steveclark3341 Yes, the older generations have always criticized the newest generations but this time it's clear to see that it's drastically different. Not in a good way either
" It's like an intelligent form of illiteracy" That's brilliant.
That jumped out at me, too.
"...hard work and determination are severe forms of abuse". I can't wait to tell my boss that one.
Fantastic!!!
I'm a millennial and you re on point sir as always.
“It’s like an Intelligent form of Illiteracy.” Epic Line. So many epic lines in here.
It was definitely a great comic act that woulda been better described as "what old folks think" =)
@@steveclark3341 Just the old folks, huh?
@@danix8538 Well, young folks also love to pretend they ain;t the same, too =)
Right on point. Nothing like self importance mixed with a high dose of ignorance.
This video is FleekAF.
P.S. I am surprised fidget spinners were not mentioned in this.
AwakenWithJP did you feel the same about the yo-yo? And if not, what is the difference in your mind?
Yo-yo required some level of skill , fidget spinner is like toddlers rattle.
Fidget spinners aren't the toy of the millennials dude... They're apart of "gen z"
Hahaha. This is something I would have wrote. I love your online persona. Probably should never meet... it'd just ruin things
what's Fleek? I'm guessing AF is as Fu*k. It's funny that I'm included in this generation, but I cannot even understand the jargon. Back in my day, things were "fly" , "fresh", or "tight"
“Give me money for no reason. I should have a huge job with no experience. Do as I say or I gaslight you. I will also flake / ghost on any plans / responsibilities at the last second & you can’t take offense.”
Hard work and determination are severe forms of abuse.
I am a master of communication. Every sentence I say is thought out at least an hour in advance, that way I never say anything stupid. Everyone knows being smart is so much better than being an actual human being. You know, I think I've got all the skills to be my own boss. Well, minus the work ethic, and the time management, and the ability to take responsibility for my actions, but aside from that, I could totally be the next Bill Gates.
Cirrusyt Except for the Bill Gates part, I'm pretty sure your tone resonated with me like a gen x and Hillary Clinton.
Evi1M4chine Are you really so obtuse that's all you took away from his comment? He's clearly trying to convey that attempting to not make any mistakes in order to *appear* smart is a wasted effort because part of being a human is making mistakes. Everyone is fallible.
Well played :-)
I'll reply to you an hour later.
Also we millenials take social media comments very seriously everything other people say is 100% shit and they dont know what they're talking about we will help them out and present them with real facts based on my personal opinion , so they dont make a mistake of thinking they have freedom of thought, or that they matter in any way.
"Hard work and determination are severe forms of abuse..." LMFAO!! Just terrific!
no one thinks that
I'm from a different country and its amazing how many things don't apply at all, but some things are so exact!! Amazing as be usual.
Lol. I'm a 27 yr old millennial and I'm pissed, because I never actually got all these gold medals for participating. Wtf. Never got a medal in girl scouts, track, Model UN, or science fairs. I only won medals in judo when I placed in the top 3 at competitions. Where are my participation medals??! This world did me soooo wrong. Also, if I had any friends I'd totes like their online personas better.
Yeah, right? I want gold medals that aren't metaphorical! Fuck this shit!
Blame your parents. They have probably saved for psychotherapy if they are Xers. Unless, of course, you used that savings on your MA in Lesbian Dance Theory...
The gold medal thing looks like a myth to me. I may be a millenial but I don't know friends who were regularly given gold medals for participating... u_u
I'm not quite a millennial but a lot of this sounds like me. I've painfully come to realise that I can't do what I want with this weak mentality so I've been gradually toughening myself up!
we all have had to.
One step at the time and you will get there . I guess it was sarcasm . 😁
Yeah I can tell just from the comment! 👏
Hard times create tough men!
This is Gold, you deserve a gold medal brother! 🥇
i love millennials! some of em are my kids. i am fine with kids living with parents. that's why people need a very large house. reverting back to ancient times when families ACTUALLY STUCK TOGETHER AND LIVED UNDER ONE ROOF.
I'm a millennial and I find this offensive. How dare you criticize us. I'm gong to tweet this and you'll hear it from all my internet friends.
I’m a millennial and I’m glad to say most of the stuff you said doesn’t match my description. All I need to work on is listen more to people and learn to accept criticism. Hard for me to admit that but there’s a famous quote that I love to use; “It’s time to leave the nest”
As a Millennial, I don't need words to express my emotions. I just use emojis. They're much more accurate and intelectual. Words are for losers.
R R 😂
See how you even spelled intellectual 🤣🤣....ya words are for losers
Thats true thought.😲😱
👍
@C W Are you trying to offend or joke around or something?
Thats true though THATS GOOD THATS GOOD
This might be your best video yet JP
My grown children have a virtual life with their friends...while I struggle to stay connected and nurture a REAL family life!! They are distracted by keeping up with their image!

“It also taught me that me n my family can sue anyone who doesn’t give me a gold metal”😂😂😂😂
"I think I like my friends online persona rather than their in-person persona." - I have yet to see a video with a more succinct and accurate description of millenials.
I'm not a Millennial but I notice that a lot of my friends are way cooler and kinder on Facebook than they are in real life :)
Marie Benard because Facebook is used for social connection moreso than real life now. Also, it's documented if they are an assist. Delete post or message only does so much once one person has a screenshot of the original.
Sharikul Islam I said "Wow, that's actually true." 😂😂
Sharikul Islam you mean society in general?
Besides that he points out many modern behaviours with flaws of society in general, all that generation "come up with any stupid name you want" bullshit just tries to shoehorn certain common aspects of modern daily life into specific groups of people.
You explain this better than anybody I’ve ever heard.
