To respond to the questions about the card shuffling. I can't really speak for anyone else, but I personally do it, because why you're waiting for your opponent to make their move, you may get anxious and in order to keep yourself sane you just shuffle the cards in your hands. And after awhile you sort of make it a habit. It's contagious. The less you play, the less likely you are to do it, but the more you play, the more likely you are to do it.
lol I assumed there were standards. I'm from GA and at most events I play in Atlanta, the judges announce that if you go outside and get sweaty between rounds, you'll be asked to either change your shirt or leave if you start smelling bad.
Card flicking: The purpose is to give the opponent the least amount of information by keeping them in the dark of which cards you've drawn. Especially if the opponent has any way of looking at your hand, such as Inquisition of Kozilek, Duress, etc. It may not seem like much, but at the higher levels of this game, every little edge matters. Sharfman actually doesn't even flick that much or that loud. Go to a PTQ and listen, tick, tick, tick. Or just watch Brian Kibler play. :P
Actually, I would rather have Cris Pikula or Brian Hacker. they both did a great job in the past. I also want Randy back. some people thought he sucked, but I always thought he had great insight.
don't expect block to represent standard for the coming year the way zendikar did, scars of mirrodin block is climited far more by the core set than zendikar was
@andregor99202 just keep watching players and attempting with other people around you and eventually you will get better and know how to set a up deck your more comfortable with
@darkferiousity Card shuffling is that common, its sad really. I have to tune it out while people are playing because they (they being most MTG players) do it. Its like a nervous nerd tick.
also you can cheat shuffle your own deck, if you know how to get an advantage, it'd be cool to see magicTG go to online tourneys to prevent that or make an official shuffle your deck for you each time it needs to be shuffled. I vote for online pro tours, more eye candy.
Not fond of his nail trimmings either, but FFS people, this is MTG, not a paediatrician's office. If by some chance Sharfman's a classical, jazz, or blues guitarist, he's got both a reason and an excuse to wear his nails long. Now can we get over the length of his nails and get back to the game?
BDM has looked nothing but bored in all of the PT Nagoya videos. Maybe it's time to find someone who can match Rich's enthusiasm, and BDM's knowledge of the game.
Kadooka lost because he was distracted by those nails that Sharfman has. Seriously, no wonder Magic players get the reputation of being disgusting nerds; people like Sharfman. Yeah, I get it, he's a good player and he won lots of money; but c'mon.
How is Rich Hagon still doing coverage for wizards? He's obviously knows very little about pro level magic and he is utterly unbearable to listen to when he starts rambling. Honestly I really could care less about everything he says and am forced to skip ahead in the video when he gets on a rant. Wizards please replace this guy, he makes me feel dumber every time I hear him. Even BDM, who is the greatest guy, can barely stifle laughter when Rich starts talking "strategy".
@Klonoaz im about 95% sure they're using basic colored UltraPro sleeves. they're about 3.50 a pack.
Oh, I meant the non-stop shuffling of cards in hand. Figured that out by now, but thanks anyway :P
@ArcRunnerBeach well 1 sparmage is 1/1 but shaman is 2/2 and sparkmage isn't standard legal anymore
There's a lot of shuffling. Whenever you get something that searches your library, generally it says shuffle your library. (Library is the main deck)
@TheSandilini That's what I was thinking, but both hands have long nails so that would include his fretting hand.
@ModeLTU no that is the players being tense or just jittery. some do some dont.

@ArcRunnerBeach It costs 3, 2 any + 1 mountain
how did kadooka use the anatomist's ability to take out the sentinel in game 2 at around12:20?
Posting the Finals vid before the semis vid? Why?
I don't play Magic IRL, is card shuffling THAT common? I'm guessing it's sort of like chip shuffling in poker?
wat do the people with the laptops do
are these draft or constructed decks?

@KensanOni I know what you mean people always tell me how weak she is but I like a 2/3 for 3 mana with any kind of walk
In these tournaments, yes. Otherwise, not so much.
@MorrisJoshua26 he didn't have 2 black mana.

@ArcRunnerBeach its 2R
@brothervalencio they invented an Unhinged card for that : "Stop That", look on the Gatherer website
i'm a yugioh kid who retired from card-gaming altogether 5 or so years ago. :(
Actually, I would rather have Cris Pikula or Brian Hacker. they both did a great job in the past. I also want Randy back. some people thought he sucked, but I always thought he had great insight.
@tajnisvet i still miss Randy Buehler
WTF is with the card shuffling in hand????
don't expect block to represent standard for the coming year the way zendikar did, scars of mirrodin block is climited far more by the core set than zendikar was
I like how they played like...19 cards before we even saw something going on.
David's nails are gnarly
@andregor99202 just keep watching players and attempting with other people around you and eventually you will get better and know how to set a up deck your more comfortable with
Finally HD! Amen to that
@tajnisvet they should get Evan Erwin
game starts around 2:33

@wiivolution222 Type play-by-play.

Why the hell didn't he play the zealot?!
@GobBluth1
you don't have the heart of the card anymore,I feel sad for you :(
Go support Duel masters Lol.
Haven't played MTG but planning to play it around when I'm 18+ years old looks like a very complex and detailed game.
Cool chairs...
He used Glissa's scorn to remove the sentinel
All those people who have been telling me that Koth's Courier was a weak choice, you can bite me now. :)
What youtube viewers talk about while watching magic:
CUT THEM NAILS>Magic
I was going to make a comment about the nails, but instead I thumbs upped all the nail comments.
@daryldeveyra a razor wouldnt hurt either
@krazykidpsx Too bad that's part of the game.
@daryldeveyra wah! spoilers!
@ximbabwe0228 Draft.
I think that david is gonna bomb worlds tho he was lucky he win because if draft
i can not stand the hand shuffling, it drives me crazy haha
8:22 Meanie camera man
OMG SHARFSMANS FINGERNAILS
I can't stop looking at David's gnarly nails...*gag*
Not hard to win when your opponent has two lands out.
With the winnings, the least Sharfman can do is buy a nail cutter.
@daryldeveyra Yeh i can't watch watch when they zoom in on his hands - nasty
i would not want those rat claws touching my cards
Spin to win.
2:30
SHARFMAN: CUT UR NAILS THAT IS GROSS, UNLESS UR A COKE DEALER
"Spin that engine!"
haleluja when sharfman is in topdeck mode ... then he cant do annoying stuff with his handcards like constantly flipping them against each other.
Bah, I wanted to see real games.
This game is much easier to follow on console lol.
I dont care about the nails. HOLY CRAP!!!!!! 9 wins 0 losses... O.O
@tajnisvet He wouldn't be able to compete.
Somebody tell sharfman he only needs one coke nail.
yes,. not to brian kibler ADHD levels, but it happens. :)
honestly it takes five minutes, JUST CLIP YOUR NAILS!!!
Game 3, Entering the mana screw step... yea... amazing victory... /sarcasm
@TehChaps There is nothing worse than ginger beard.
@Shadmed2 still doesnt make for an "amazing" victory.
I can't even watch this because everytime i see Sharfman's nail, I want to vomit.
Poorly played by Kadooka. His deck was very good
@terkerknight Nah, BDM FTW

Those are some nasty ass fingernails.
@ArcRunnerBeach hahahaha dude...learn magic please!
Omg. That chain. gross.
