  • Do you really control every decision you make? There’s an increasing number of people who believe that free will is only an illusion-that the decisions you make today are solely caused by events from your past.
In this episode, AUTHENTIC host Shawn Boonstra discusses research from neuroscientist Benjamin Libet and the determinism of Dutch-Jewish philosopher Baruch Spinoza. It's a deep dive into the debate over free will versus the law of Nature.

Ther are influences and there are conscious decisions. I chose the latter. Though we can be in fluenced by a lot of things, it is still a matter of choice.

Is there any chance the volume can be increased during recording?

I cut it short at 17 minutes I'll listen to the rest afterwards, what year did scribing and talkin about is neuroscience and neurobiology. Which gets into sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve roots. That is where intelligent design comes from there's, really no disputing it. You actually need both autonomic and non-automatic and they work together if one goes out of whack it can mess up the other one Unfortunately they forgot social science and social sexual science. And the five different physical needs and emotional needs that everybody has. We work on a conscious and subconscious level.
Yes our environment directly and indirectly influence how we behave. And yes we were designed a certain way and the beginning before the tree of knowledge.
That did not mean we did not have intelligence, it's just we did not know evil. We were designed as children of God like that of a newborn baby are young children. We did not know Envy our greed. Just like a newborn baby. But because of the original sin, we were swayed away from God buy evil.
Which is soon as corruption or should I say envy and greed came into mankind, the design was corrupted, you can have free will without envy and greed. Then you would just do things by your heart , which would be good. Then there would be no comparison no jealousy no hatred. There would be no need for it, like a small child or a baby we don't look at color or race or gender when we are very very young. Our nakedness. The tree of knowledge took away our innocence. And God knew what was going to happen once our innocence was gone. That's where the true love of God comes in he knew things would never be the same as he planned, but he still accepted and cared for. Even though we were changed and no longer had that innocence, he knows that evil is and we will be swayed by it, so he knows we're going to sin no matter what. It's just up to us to try to do the right thing. The corruption can come at us at all different angle. And take something good and turn it into evil without us even realizing it. Because in the end we are still children. We may think we're all grown up just like a young teenager thanks they know how the world works and becomes rebellious they think they have it all figured out, well guess what none of us do. That's the reason why we have to rely on God and ask for his help and forgiveness for our own stupidity.
    Thank you:
    Barry E, Ives.

Had a thought that maybe ignorance really is bliss. Like not partaking of the tree of knowledge???

Our judgement has already be levied. This world is either our 2nd reincarnation or the Judgement Day. We just have to live out our karmic punishment.

Free will in the natural man and temporal sense, of what we see and must make a choice, is not the issue.
We are made in the image of God, yet man (made a living soul) became a dying soul, falling into sinful self-will and pride, like the devil. The soul in Hebrew has many meanings, shades of our being. Soul is rendered as person, creature, man, heart, mind, will, appetite, desire, life, etc in OT scriptures. We have 'will' to think, say and do what is right 'in our own eyes', according to our limited understanding of good and evil results. God is not the author of confusion, and free-will does not help spiritually speaking, unless our "free-will" becomes "knee will" in the image of Christ. To be spiritually minded is 'life and peace', and man's fallen "free will" is carnal minded and not subject to the law of God, until God intervenes. Most men are 'taken captive by the devil at his will' (2Tim.2:26). God's will is subject to His holiness, justice and lovingkindness, and truth, and responds not from "free will" by any stretch of the imagination. Adam chose his own self-will over God's will, word and warning, and plunged fallen mankind into sinful self-will and sin, and the 'iniquity of our sin' is the problem (Ps.32:5). The real issue is Ps.149:4, and Ps.92:6 explains the big issue, and "free will" is not the solution, and never shall be. Christ teaches us to say, 'not my will, but thine be done'.
