  • This video is a transformative opinion piece, not a substitute to the original source. My intention is to create discussion and awareness about the author's work. Several panels are slightly altered for accessibility purposes.
    Hope you guys like this video. No Gundam this week, but this is the next best thing.
    Game shown at the end is Marfusha: Sentinel Girls.
    The title is just my opinion.
    Final note: I did not count the epilogue in the styles. So there are technically 8, but it feels like a continuation of the 7th.

    ah yes the manga gave me the feeling of 50% damage hit to my Wanzer's right arm unit's HP and legs unit's HP that I now move slowly from some dude using a mortar cannon hiding behind a shipping container across the street.

    i read this earlier, my main complaint, besides being a little too gratuitous at times is that it feels very one sided. idk the lore behind front mission, ive never interacted with the franchise before now, but the USN just feels comically evil to the point it just feels uncomfortable and not in a "war is bad" way but more in a "what message is the author trying to send" way. in a way it almost feels like it glorifies war at times by giving the heros glorious last stands and speeches and getting the girl. I feel like if a piece of media doesnt humanize the enemy to a degree it fails at being anti war, especially to the comical degree this manga goes about it. I still thought it was for the most part cool just kinda off putting
    like im okay with comically evil orc like factions until its obviously alluding to real life nations. idk if im looking into it too much, it just made me feel weird and i couldnt stop thinking about it

    Man I've been just thinking about this manga recently, after looking at the various Front Mission remakes we're getting, yet never had a chance to read it. I had no idea the same artist did Thunderbolt!! And I didn't expect such a glowing review, amazing video and I'll try to find some time to read it because morally grey stories like these are amazing. From what I remember playing the original games, they didn't have the same kind of stories unfortunately, still war stories but clearly not the same tone for sure.

    Wow this was really really dark depressing sad and there's no good involved in it. Which I think is perfect for front mission because I do believe even the series kind of goes into that front although the only recent thing I've heard about the series now is most people didn't like the first remake, a good amount of people didn't like the second remake and from what I'm hearing about the third remake from what people reacted in the trailer's, it's not looking that good. And we don't talk about that 1 not front mission game that was just a metal gear solid rip-off so at least this manga carries the essence of the series and it is good for what it does.

    I'm the opposite with Fruit of Eden and Heroes Cross. FoE was so bad I nearly dropped the whole manga, but HC was so good it made me keep with it. I just hate how he and the girl had this cute father/daughter relationship, just to be all over each-other out of the blue. And then as he's fighting to keep her safe she's getting ravaged by others. Heroes Cross was great for the reasons you said; its a Shakespearean tale with a hint of the supernatural.
    As much as I like this manga, it is not the best representation of the games because the games are never this sexual and gory. Serious events happen in the games, but you never see anything as explicit and unhinged as you see in DLDS. You should still play them though.
    If you want another great mecha manga like this, read Red Eyes.

    • @NopeMechs
      @NopeMechs  5 часов назад

      On the subject of Fruit of Eden: I interpreted the change that happened in their relationship as a result of her lacking an understanding of healthy relationships. She was raised as essentially an object ever since she was 14. Valued for what she could give others rather than her own autonomy. Her abandonment issues combined with that led to her forcing herself on Akagi so he wouldn't leave her behind.
      After that, she fell back into the cycle of her old life. Assuming she was yet again abandoned. It's depressing and honestly could have been terrible. But, I found the unconditional kindness he showed by coming for her even after learning about her past moving.
      That being said, valid perspective on your end too. It's definitely weird and uncomfortable. Like a lot of the stuff in the story, but that's part of what I like about it.
      Edit: Also I'll probably look into Red Eyes in the future.

    Seriously. This reporter guy throughout the series seems to be instigating everything and then just vanishes from an interrogation room at the end.
    Oh, and the gratuitous levels of rape going on. Like, I got no problem if series wanna throw that in but it just seems weirdly placed in Front Mission. I've played all the games. A lot less rape happens in them than in this manga.

    War journalism is extremly important to show what is really happening and to show all the war crimes. You are saying let war criminals get away with it.

    • @ryutak777
      @ryutak777 6 часов назад +4

      Liveleaks and RUclips back in the day are very different from war journalism. People legitimately would watch videos of people dying purely for fun during the Iraq War. Keeping war criminals accountable is obviously super important but many people who would take these gruesome videos were amateurs who just wanted attention, fame, and to sensationalize the horrors of war. Once again professional war journalists do great things but they are very different from Inazuka who is clearly doing this not to keep war criminals accountable but to sensationalize it.

    " _He went on to make Gundam Thunderbolt_ "
    THAT PIECE OF SHIT? Ain't winning any points with me..
    I downloaded this manga ages ago but I got so bored thanks to the rape scene and the blatant disregard for any kind of civility. Been meanng to check it out again at some point but... I'm just not interested in such extreme views.
    04:20 - The start of the Second Huffman Conflict I believe. Inb4 Battel of Freedom City by the Black Dogs and Hell's Wall.
    7:22 - Frederick would twist in his wanzer at his failure of reporting, lol.
    10:15 - Yeah this is what I'm talking about. It's all doom & gloom and rape and pillage which IS NOT HOW FRONT MISSION IS. Sure Front Mission is dark but this manga is just saying that war will make monsters of all 100%. Just like Thunderbolt. You're either someone who hates war and just want to run on the beach, or you're a sociopath. What a dull storyteller.
    14:17 - And there the canon of Front Mission juts took it up it's rear chips. There's no such thing in Front Mission. This is STUPID.
    This video reminds me why I don't find it interesting. It's just shit.
