- Moving Pictures is such a great album. The Drum parts by Neil are very challenging as well. Red Barchetta was extra fun for me because of the heavy rock back beat Neil lays down along with his creative fills. Enjoy!
This was recorded with Sennheiser mics, a 421 on the floor tom and RODE M3 on the Hi Hat. Mixed live through a 16 ch Mackie Mixer with a stereo output to a sound devices. Mastered and compressed with original track in Protools and edited in IMovie.

Nice job, for sure Moving Pictures so fun to play. I giggled at the feet at 3:15 that appeared suddenly, you had your fan club present !

@@adamjohnston2311 you bet. Man i really enjoyed watching your video. Im also a 51 year old drummer. Neil inspired me to become a drummer at the age of 14 or there about. Rush has always been the primary source of music in my stereo. I remember the 80s. The music then was some of the best. Rush was definitely in the limelight. Watching you play Red Barchetta was simply awesome. Beat for beat you nailed the entire song. Ill be watching more of your videos and i also subscribed.

Wow! We were both on the same plane. I started playing at 13. First Rush album 2112. Played Rush in cover bands in Jr high school and high school. Now at 57 doing it all over again relearning the songs of my youth. It sure is a lot harder now then it was back then. LOL!

I quit playing in my 20s and started the raising family and marriage thing. To be honest i could have skipped that and simply stayed playing drums and went professional in drumming. I was really starting to learn when i quit. But i stayed practiced up air drumming to Neil though. I built a tama and zildjan kit over the last 5 years. I have my drum room and i play every night after dinner. Ill never put the sticks down again. Its good exercise and I cherish every moment i have playing now that Im older. You start seeing life in a different light. Its good to be alive and have lived during the days the Rush played. Im still pretty sad about Neils passing. His music meant so much to me and still does. And yes he is a hard one to copy after.
I hear ya John. I have been lucky enough to build a studio at my home but I have only been playing once a month for years. I was in some jazz fusion bands for about 10 years. And then onto playing blues. I worked with a working blues band called The Mamas Boys. Great players. Great experience.
We did a few albums and I moved on. Burned out giving 4 days a week for 3 years.
And now I’d love to play more but my ears are ringing all the time. I finally found some good in ear Shure headphones. They help but I can unfortunately only play a few times a week.
A part of getting old. Take care of your ears my friend.
