Completely pointless imo. Not even a good moneygrab by Blizzard, so just weird/confusing. Most big servers are both single faction and locked, so you'd have to faction change and then also transfer to a (relatively) dead server - likely ending up with a worse experience and also locked out of going back if it sucks.
