Best of Ember x SL

Ember development at Freefly ran 100% longer than expected. We planned on completing the build in a year or so, but it took longer than predicted to pack this much magic into a 4-inch 800g cube.
We fought hard over every gram, every mm, every connector, and every pixel to make Ember the most capable camera possible.
We did this because we knew that a smaller, lighter, faster camera would create shots the world had never seen before.
'When the Sky Blooms with Sakura" is just such a project.
It uses every last drop of Embers capability to create something magical.

The film is a Daytime fireworks shot for @caistudio and @ysl with Ember at 5k 600fps in Japan
Commissioned by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, the artist Cai Guo-Qiang created daytime fireworks titled When the Sky Blooms with Sakura, at Yotsukura Beach in Iwaki City, an area that had been devastated by the 2011 Japan earthquake and the resulting tsunami.
The instant bloom of the sakura in the sky conveys collective hope and a future where one day the land can become a pink sea of sakura.
