  • How to turn your hanging house plant into a DIY plant wall, which I call "Living Wallpaper". All you need is a Pothos plant (a.k.a. Devil's Ivy) and some adhesive hooks.

The clear command hooks are a good idea...less invasive and permanent, yet effective and durable.😊👍

Love this so much. Beautiful. Gonna rig something like this in my living room with my pothos and perhaps philodendrons in the other side.

I transported my plant to a larger pot prior to trellising. Considering Pothos has a large root system it will quickly get rootbound and growth will be compromised....switching pots when the vines are mounted to the wall could be much more cumbersome. Therefore, it would be a great suggestion to do this before attaching to the wall.

For those wondering if pothos will grow into your wall - heck yeah it does! I was surprised to learn that today. If you want to avoid damage, put something behind the plant or don't let it set directly on the wall. ruclips.net/video/HGxt54oD8Lo/видео.html

Okay. Would these hooks hurt the wall? I m not living in my own place and I need to be considerate of the walls for when I leave...

Is there an update? If the conditions are right the pothos will grow right into the wall with its aerial roots. perhaps you can do a close up of the aerial roots to show if they have started growing, also a video of making this with a removable backdrop or something that it can grow its roots into.

Just posted an update. Check it out! Aerial roots are rare for some reason. Only about 5% of nodes have them and they are about 2cm at longest. The removable backdrop is a good idea though...

I salvaged a dying pothos on discount from Walmart about 3 month ago. I is doing beautifully hanging under a roofline in my outdoor screened lanai. Because I live in SW Florida (lower zone 9, and very humid), the plant is growing very long roots from the hanging shoots. I assume the plant is also feeding from the humidity from those hanging roots. However I don’t visually care for the look of these hanging light brown roots.
My question is ..... is it safe to trim these hanging roots off? ..... or will this damage the plant?

    • @nedsgarden7066
      @nedsgarden7066  5 лет назад +1

Nice find! It should be fine to trim the roots... they are just opportunistically picking up moisture, as you said. And I agree, they don't look good! But as when you make any cut, theres a risk of infection to the plant, so use a sharp knife and sterilize it with alcohol to be extra safe. Of course, give the plant lots of water.

Where did you buy that big white pot?

I bought it at Jamali Garden, the "White Light Fiberstone Pot" is the closest one they have in stock now.

Who isn't familiar with an overgrown pothos? Haha.
    I'd suggest propagating it.
    1) it's VERY easy
    2) you remove long bare strands
    3) you 'renew' your existing plant
    4) you have new plants, for free!

Is there any update on the project? Or did the plant die completely.
