Maybe the greatest of a country music awards show, but I have seen and heard better with greater audience participation, unlike this audience who didn't know the song except the band Lady A. Kimberly Paisley, Jewel, Miss America and other artists seemed lost.
I was watching this live in 2015 & they DID NOT close out the night with this. They did, however, BRING THE FUCKING HOUSE DOWN with this!!! I would NOT have wanted to perform after this AT ALL!!! I had just had a full hysterectomy at this time & I swear to GOD I got pregnant 14 times watching this!! 😂
And that band!! The organ, the horns. OMG - there was nobody on the slate to perform that night that could match that; and made everyone else look like they were in a high school talent show. Lightning struck on that stage that night for sure. Everyone on that stage just grooved the heck out. Absolutely epic performance.

This is why it’s called Music City. Represent! 🤟🏻As a Nashville native who grew up exposed to the industry, I’ll say, there are TONS of crazy talented musicians who aren’t famous. Chris was a writer for years before he broke out. A lot of famous artists already knew him worked with him over the years.
I hate country and my friends keep telling me Nashville is more than just country. Is this true? I’ve avoided going there because I envision me surrounded my country music.

Chris was wanting to back out of performing because he was so shy in the beginning. Justin tried to talk him into it. Chris agreed IF Justin ( who is a close friend) would perform with him. Chris's wife also keeps him from being so nervous on stage as he can look over at at her and it keeps him grounded so to speak. She also has a great voice.❤ The rest is history as far as this epic performance. Just think what we could have missed.
To this day, I don't know of a better CMA performance that has happened since that. And I wouldn't have wanted to be on the 2nd half of that award show because I would never want to follow that performance!
