Most modern tanks raise and lock the gun after firing to make the loader’s job easier, and the StuGs were based on the Pz.III and IV, neither of which had interleaved road wheels. The Stürmtiger had interleaved road wheels, so maybe you were thinking of that?
There are autoloaders that allow for maintaining gun elevation, the one on the PzH 2000 and it’s derivatives comes to mind, which is similar to the loading systems on naval guns, but I can’t think of any examples used in a MBT.
Also, one thing interesting about this style of tank is you can keep a low profile yes but you can also have a very high caliber gun, and something like this would breed the innovation to go crazy with gun calibers and length especially because of how efficient it can be with space. So i feel like you coulda used a bigger gun here, even 90mm
@@nope_defender.bot.6563 I have no idea, but I've heard that from both a video about it and two Abrams servicemen. Someone said they preferred it as they could see where the breech was as they got the shell so they could line it up better as they grabbed the shell, so I think it all comes down to how they practice during training.
Dude, I was there when he bloody uploaded the blueprint to the server lol, I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. He’s barely been playing the game for 3 months, and he’s already doing this. If Hamish really wants to expand the developer team, Aku would probably get it should he ask
How about a tank with both of the "weird autoloader solutions" that you were talking about around 8:27 ... a heavy tank/MBT with both hydropneumatic suspension and a low profile ocilating turret.
Have you thought about remaking some vehicles you made in old Sprocket, like the improved KV tank or the Romanian beast from the east? Perhaps you could try to make a Polish tank, like an alternate history of what-if x country had an actual tank program?
I see so many comments about the Stug not having interleaved road wheels.. but when did the Stug have hdyro-pneumatic suspension? When did the stug have its gun offset on the right of the tank? I dont understand what people miss about the *inspired* part of it, not a replica. Also I do wish you you had some sort of gun mantlet to cover the hole. Great video tho!

3:08 Will... idk how to tell you this, but the StuG really doesn't have interleaving roadwheels 😂😂
yes, ur right its looking more like a jagdpanther
It was a time when they didn't overcomplicated things yet. In case of Pz III - IV, that is.
Well yea Stug III and Stuh 43 don't got that type of wheels layout XD
My father was a Stridsvagn 103 tank Commander, i had the joy to ride in it

Already played the dune scenario with my little FT-17 reconstruction. A lot of fun, especially when you read how the new AI seems to work :D

All manually loaded tanks will slightly raise their gun from the neutral position automatically to make loaders job more easy
Except the Abrams, for some reason. Apparently it’s a feature you can enable, but they never use it.

Objective met. Demonstration of why that Suspension Type wasn't used much looks persuasive to me. :)

The stuGs gun was always offset, very slightly, to the right, so people can stop with that one

I believe none of the stug IVs had interlocked road wheels
None had. Only the Jagdpanther and Jagdtiger had that, inherited from the Panther and Tiger II (Königstiger).
