About Sprocket:
Design tanks in a dedicated and intuitive designer, allowing the realistic armour mechanics that make tank combat so unique. Explore tank design's challenges through WW1, the interwar period and the early, mid and late stages of WW2.
Hull & Turret Shape Design
Easy to use and flexible enough to give you endless design starting points. Drag on a face or edge to move it. Bigger compartments create more internal space but have more surface to armour.
Well angled shapes may bounce incoming shells off entirely, leaving only a scratch and several ringing ears.
Armour Design
Set the thickness of each armour plate, allowing you to block shots from your foes. Though the weight and space used adds up!
Cannon Design
Build a gun capable of piercing enemy armour. You'll need enough space and force to rotate it. Make sure you save enough room for ammo!
Crew Design
Humans are light but large and quite essential, squeeze them in and assign them one or more roles. Cramped and overworked crew perform poorly.
Attached Parts
Add functional and decorative parts to the exterior of your vehicle. These can define where internals are e.g. the engine is positioned where you place your exhausts and vents, then gets hit if a shell pierces your armour in that area. Place a fuel port in front of the driver and the fuel tank just might absorb a projectile, saving their life - if it doesn't ignite...
Track Design
Focus your tracks and suspension on trench crossing, mountain climbing, going fast or just looking cool.
Engine Design
Design anything from ship engines to lawnmower engines in a basic powerplant designer.
Fuel Tank Design
Set your fuel capacity and tank locations. Even bring them outside of the vehicle - if you don't mind them being shot off every now and then.
Transmission Design
Design your ratios - make it faster backwards than forwards or give it a 1st gear that can climb any mountain. One of these on each track will let one side drive while the other reverses, turning on the spot.
Internal Component Health
No hit-points. Vehicles carry on the fight as long as their critical internals are still functioning.
Full Powertrain Simulation
Engines, transmissions & tracks work together to move your tank with a realistic simulation, making vehicles feel like the real thing.
Scenarios
Battle in a range of environments with a team of your custom tanks, although make your design too expensive and you might be on your own. If your vehicle is destroyed, you carry on the fight in control of an ally - sometimes watching your previous self go up in flames.

I just realised; you haven't played Space Engineers yet.
I'm surprised since you can build Bridges.

RCE : *Using a Panther
Also RCE : "I'm losing track already"
This game is pretty realistic ngl
the Tiger had massive engine problems. over half the Tiger tanks deployed never saw real combat because they kept breaking down. it was actually designed as a medium tank not an ultra-heavy tank like it became do to armor thickness and gun size being doubled. the end result was that the engine could not handle the demand the Tiger's new weight put on it. kinda like what would happen if you put an Volkswagon Beetle engine in a 5 ton truck. the panther had the same problem AND the treads were thinner
RCE: "Let's keep this somewhat sensible"
Me: Presses X to doubt
This is why they say mechanical engineers make the weapons, and civil engineers make the targets

14:00 Matt in this game you survive by not having a tank which can destroy a city in a shot cause higher the caliber the longer the reload time. You just need to destroy tanks.

This fits really well into no tank's land given that this looks a bit like the German A7V.
This is way to complicated for Matt. Waiting on the new Tanknado shirts

You have just described human existence in one sentence.
I don't know how well Sprocket models it but IRL there's an ideal ratio of length to width for a tank. Too long and thin and it can't turn. Too wide and short it turns like a shopping trolly and you can't drive in a straight line! LOL

This game looks fun. I’m looking forward to this series
Behave! (Even if you have a point...)
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming If I may offer a few suggestions:
1. The No Tank's Land scenario is very difficult due to the very tight constraints - you would have a better experience starting with the Ambush scenario.
2. Make sure you give your crew adequate space to function - if you click on the Crew tab in the upper left side, you can set how many crew, what their role is, and how much space they are required to have. If they don't have enough space they don't perform as efficiently.
3. Gun caliber isn't everything - caliber controls how much damage a shell causes, but its penetration determines whether it will bounce off the tank entirely or succeed in causing damage. I suggest sticking with guns between 50mm and 150mm caliber, and then changing the length of the gun or the length of the shell to generally maximize how much penetration the shell has.
4. Your tanks kept getting killed because the AI generally always aims for your commander's cupola, which has very little armor - try 'hiding' it in some fashion, such as directly behind the turret or on the back of the turret where the rear section is sloped downwards.
Thank you for your time.
.
@@efulmer8675 So the AI is a perfect aimbot. Sounds like a great thing for me to play never
@@tsm688 The AI is actually pretty bad. If you hide your cupola or just put it at the back of the tank, you can easily win. For RCE's case, he was playing by far the hardest level with almost the worst possible tank he could have designed. The game is excellent, just skip the first level - it needs some work.

Still, this looks fascinatingly fun! I’m an Armor Historian, so I genuinely study the designs. And I couldn’t help but cringe at several of these.
Partially because I’ve seen some similar design philosophy before, and partially because you found new creative ways to utterly ruin tank designs. Which is very British of you, so carry on then.
Jokes aside, absolutely checking this out sometime.
Yeah he’s building like a 12 year old which means land battleships with gigantic cannons and ludicrously slow speeds
I found out recently the sticks on the front and back are so they can drive over trenches, pretty cool!
I love how this game said: "gun caliber" and Matt said: "yes please." 🤣👍
I might be new to watching (recommended due to timberborn while watching Blitz) but i gotta say i'm glad you don't design tanks in real life or the uk army would fire you out of your own tank canon.
That said i wonder if i could fuck it up more.

RCE, You are the most engineer, engineer I've ever seen. Based on my friend group and the people I've grown up with (many are engineers, 2 are teachers, 1 is a lawyer), they tend to be really good at memorizing things and staying in their bubble. But as soon as you put them into a new situation that requires something different, they become a complete moron, or think they know what they are doing, but don't. It's hilarious. It's actually the reason why I love watching so much RCE. Reminds me of my childhood growing up with so many people in specialized practices.
My engineer friend I can tell you as a self proclaimed tank expert you are going to want your tank low to the ground and relatively light wait being taller makes you a bigger target and limits the movement of your gun
10:18 I like how the turret shots sound like a soda can getting hit with a BB gun
‘Blend into the sky’ 🤣 love it
If you don't make the strongest shape with a tank I'll be disappointed
No need - tank turrets are already phallic

9:24 TOG? Is that you? Have you been cursed perhaps? XD
Can't wait for the episode where matt makes a bridge tank
The Red Bowl Weevil tank. Perfect.
as a tank enthusiast this gave me a aneurysm.
Big caliber is good for high explosive shells, (eg KV2) but for killing other tanks you're probably better off with a slightly smaller caliber and more barrel length (eg Panther), really high velocity that way, and it reloads faster.
When it comes to tanks, you're a natural architect!
Ahh yes this one looks good. "Starts with a pre made tank"
the sudden hapiness when you discover a series you haven't watched yet
your loader seems to be struggling with fitting the 1 meter long shell into the chamber

no tanks land is hard. bigger gun isnt always better, you want to tune the gun for penetration and aim for a 5-10 second reload. if your gun cant move up or down then you need to rethink the weight of the gun its a lever system the lifting point is behind the fulcrum (the mantle is the fulcrum and inside the turret is the breech and where the lifting mechanism is). there's a counter weight option to help balance the gun. angled armor is usually better than pure thickness. always max your turret armor and angle it as best as possible. its easy to get hit on the turret from a direction you dont expect. theres also a bug where if the front or rear sprocket and idlers for the track touch the ground you move a lot slower even in a "fast" tank
