When I die, I wanna be resurrected as Jay Leno. I never knew how cool and knowledgeable this man was until I started watching “Jay Leno’s Garage.” Late Night TV didn’t do this man justice. Jay’s an American icon.
These brothers have wonderful taste, and skill in upgrading classic cars. I would love to see what my 68 Roadrunner would now look like if they Built it ! I love that 67 chevelle they Did. My dad's roommate in 69 had a 67 chevelle SS 396 , fast 4sp.
A friend of mine had a true blue Amx. The Amx was different from the Javelin due to it being a true 2 seat sports car. It was beautiful and the Javelins were just as beautiful. The Amx was taken out of production and renamed the Javelin Amx later. Amx stood for American Motors Experimental.
It's so great that this video has drawn this much attention to AMC. I work on my 66 Rambler on my channel and it just doesn't drive the views like some cars (which is completely fine, I just do it for fun). But on the other hand, to see this awesome build bring all of this attention is so awesome for the AMC community.
@@teamwoodswarriorsracing2004 - More like all that "Mad Max" in it. It reminds me of the Turbo Interceptor of that movie - but LHD (Left-Hand Drive). I recognized it as a Javelin right away! Of course, I was born in 1955!! I got to see these cars when they were fresh from the show room!! Thanks Jay and thanks Ring Brothers!!
It's amazing how well the styling of the Javelin has held up over the years. I wasn't a big AMC fan, but the Javelins and AMX's were pretty cool. The Ring Bros. did a nice job with this one.

Chrysler should do some kind of special promotion. "The Throwback" maybe. Bring back the Javelin since they own the AMC name, but also bring back the Roadrunner, the 'Cuda and the Super Bee.
No, please, no! For the love of god, don't ruin my all-time favorite muscle car by trying to resurrect it! Chrysler unequivocally proved that's what they'll do to an old nameplate that hasn't been around for a while when they unveiled the "Dart II" in 2012 or whenever. Ford, too with the poor Zephyr (the name only lasted a year, it now fits into current Lincoln nomenclature: the MkZ). Just let the old girl rest in peace, except for incredible one-offs like this beast.

@Craig G I might be mistaken, but I believe @mopar2222 was referring to general body design elements, not actual body parts (at least, that's how I read it). And yes, you're of course correct that the mechanical parts *were* from other manufacturers.
The front end definitely looks Cuda, but the humps, roof and back end are pure Javelin. They should have had an original sitting next to it for comparison.
My '73 Javelin had a 360, with an Olds oil filler, Motocraft carb, Ford ignition, and Chrysler 727 trans. It had a Ford starter and alternator also. They really were a mutt, but the bodies were all AMC. My front window looked right at the east side of the factory. Now, it's a big empty spot of concrete, after the last of more than 100 years of automotive history was torn down in 2013.
These Ringbrothers cars are right up my alley. They made a Javelin look awesome. They are just weird looking from the factory with the enourmously look hood. Extented wheelbase fixes that.
Wow - the AMC Javelin (AMX) was my "dream car" in High School!! I drooled on it every time I passed the lot on the way to school .... what was amazing is that the salesman knew I was not a sales mark at all, yet he spent time talking to me about the car ... and AMXs in general. I learned a LOT from him. Beautiful car then ... and THIS one is beyond beautiful! :)
"Travelin in my Javelin" We had a lot of sayings, names for the cars of those days and I could have commented and said many. I new a guy in high school who had one, I started this one and it really stuck. I did let him ride my motor cycle and he let me drive his car. Like you Jay, when anyone gets a new ride I always let them show me and am excited for them. "let me drive it" works everytime.
HI JAY....I CAN NOT GET ENOUGH OF THE RING BROTHERS COACH BILDES.... I ADMIRE THEIR USE OF CARBON FIBER AND THE INNOVATION IN DESIGN, WITH THE ECONOMIC POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO OF THAT PLASTIC, ON HEAVY CLASSIC CARS...THEY ARE THE WAY FOR USABLE CLASSICS....... GREAT FOOTAGE

Very cool car. Still remember my Mother's second husband throwing my brothers and myself around the back seat of a Javelin in the '70's as he did doughnuts in a dirt field. Very cool car then and even cooler now.
'70 360 big flow 2bbl, headers... Pearl white over redguts, Mickey Thompsons on slots.. With just a bit of pearl red accent color, including the slots. GM 350s learned to beware of the hole-shot! Fun, fun.
Thats the one I wanted . I ended up getting a 304 Hornet which was fun but not as much as The Javelin . I did also have a 401 cid Matador for a little while but it killed me on repairs .
When I first saw the 72 Javelin it was coming at me and I thought my neighbor had bought a 69 Shelby until I saw the huge fender blisters then the roof line gave it away!

The pure joy on Leno's face and that laugh left no doubt in my mind that he thoroughly enjoyed that car ride. Beautiful car. Brings back memories from my own childhood. Awesome!
Is it just me or are the Ring Brothers one of the best builders in the game? And it seems that Jay really enjoys both talking to them and driving their cars. And what cars they build, just some of the most tastefully built vehicles at almost any show or event. I did meet them at SEMA once and they never seemed to want to rush the conversation. Really as cool as they appear in any video they have been in.
The 360 was only available in the 71 SC/360 Hornet and AMC built just 784 SC/360s from August 1970 through February 1971. You do not have a 1970 Hornet with a 360 because none were ever built.
That was a good move that kinda fixes the offset weirdness of the original. The grill change not so much. That's going too far IMO. The original blacked out Javelin grill would have been perfect. Now it just looks like a strange hybrid.
Why do I want to see this in orange and black or orange and white? These cars were always cool but they really turned that front end into something special. Really improved the lines on the side profile as well. Kudos to the Ring Bros.
What a phenomenal build. Love this beast. I always liked the Javelins as they were unique and fast. This takes it to a whole different level. If money was no option, I’d beg these guys to sell me this beast. Excellent decision to extend the front axle 6+ inches! Beautiful!
Way back when I was a kid the AMC Javelin was the coolest! Jay this car is one of the best on your show, thank you for presenting the Ring Brothers, their great and fun to see on your show.
Dang, what a beautiful car! Ring Brothers nailed this restomod. This was a really exciting episode to watch. I got a kick out of hearing Jay cackle with delight at the sound and the power of the engine, when he put his foot into it! The more I watch of Jay Leno's Garage, the more I love it, and the more I like Jay. His passion for automobiles and his historical knowledge of them, combined with his talent as a storyteller, make for such good entertainment. His stand up comedy was great, back in the day, and of course he had a good run, as host of the Tonight Show. But in my opinion, JLG represents the best work of Jay's entire career. His production team, and his mechanical and engineering team, are all exceptionally talented, and really shine in their roles.
the color correction (or lack of it) in video editing makes the color look awful. Just google the title and you will see other pictures and video its a beautiful color
The 401 was one of the most powerful V8's you could still buy in 1972. Even the lower compression 72-74 Javelin 401's were no joke. They only weighed about 3200 pounds and 255 net horsepower probably translated to 300 or so in gross horsepower ratings. So that made for a pretty fast car still. Probably one of the reasons the Alabama State Police ordered a whole fleet of Javelin 401's in 1972. They were probably the fastest car you could still buy in 1972-74 other than a 72 GTO or Trans Am 455 HO or a 73-74 Trans Am SD455. The 72-73 Duster and Demon 340's were still pretty fast too because they were so light and the 340 was still a screamer even in its lower compression form. Other than that I can't really think of anything made in 1972-74 that could beat a Javelin AMX 401. Most cars got bigger and heavier after 1970-71 on top of being less powerful. Ford and most of GM weren't even trying to build high performance cars anymore. Pontiac and Mopar were really the only ones still even trying to build anything fast other than AMC with their 401 Javelin's
A 401 Javelin is a thing of beauty. I'm an Aussie and whilst in Vegas I oggled one every day for 3 months. Such a cool shape and so much potential. This shows what can be done! Cool AF 😎
because now they have to be safe, and until we find cheap materials that can handle a crash test and still be sheet metal thin, were not going to get this type of car again.
This has to be one of the best builds ever. That side profile is perfect.

Yep, too bad the color is so ugly.

Bought a new 71 AMX 401, thought they out styled the big new Mustang, new Camaro, and barley over the 'Cuda. The Trans Am look was new.
The color is perfect, I think.
hastyberford, the color is fine..beat painting it red, or black
The Javelin always reminded me what a car would look like if Mustang and Camaro had a baby.
I've had several 74 javelins/amx & always thought they looked like a cross between a 71 mach 1 mustang and a late 60's/70`s corvette.

Yea, really transformed the car.
It's okay but it makes it kinda look batmobile to me.
I just looked at some pictures of the original and it's awful. Can't believe they didn't think of this before.
That was a good move that kinda fixes the offset weirdness of the original. The grill change not so much. That's going too far IMO. The original blacked out Javelin grill would have been perfect. Now it just looks like a strange hybrid.
I love this car. I have been waiting for this car to be on here. Another winner by the Ring Brothers
The change in the wheelbase makes a huge difference. It's awesome.
The Ring Brothers are great car builders. True works of art and mechanics combined. Jay loves having these guys on the Garage
Never been an AMC fan...until NOW! THAT IS AWESOME!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Just beautiful. They don’t make them like this anymore. Pure class
That is absolutely gorgeous I always loved javelins, but this one my god what a commanding presence it has. Beautiful!
I really LOVE the color of this car
Derived from the M3 BMW gold color.
Why do I want to see this in orange and black or orange and white? These cars were always cool but they really turned that front end into something special. Really improved the lines on the side profile as well. Kudos to the Ring Bros.
The wheelbase increase. and the rear treatment. THIS is what AMC should of built in the first place..
beautiful !!
What a phenomenal build. Love this beast. I always liked the Javelins as they were unique and fast. This takes it to a whole different level.
If money was no option, I’d beg these guys to sell me this beast.
Excellent decision to extend the front axle 6+ inches!
Beautiful!
That thing looks insanely badass!
kevinsdb1 would you please give my racing channel a Subscribe
i’m 90% sure rockstar used this car as inspiration for that multi car javelin on gta online
The Schyster Deviant? Yeah, they did it and even RingBrothers themselves pointed at the similarity with their Defiant on Instagram I think
Beautiful/Beautifully done 👌 👌 👌
I borrowed my grandma's Javelin when I turned 18 to get my drivers lic... Had to take the divers test slowly to pass... thanks for showing it!
…..
You must have/had one badass grandma 🤘
I had a Prestone, but had to sell it when I went off to Navy Seal training school.......
Justin Snow carful Don Shipley will come for you! 😂
19:53 best part. Don’t see Jay react like that to often
That’s one great looking car one of the best looking AMC iv ever seen the color is spot on
Way back when I was a kid the AMC Javelin was the coolest!
I've never liked Javelins but I love this one. I'm pretty sure I'd be just as giddy as Jay if I were behind the wheel of this one. Great video!
Dopest jav I’ve ever seen,I want one
Man they keep building better and better cars. Javelin is jaw dropping.
Ring Brothers are awesome. Every car they make is a gem in my view
Those side mirrors, geez, EVERYTHING these guys touch or redesign oozes cool... The BEST custom car builders....
6 inches forward on the front wheels and suddenly a javelin is beautiful, even in puke green
the color correction (or lack of it) in video editing makes the color look awful. Just google the title and you will see other pictures and video its a beautiful color
6 and a half inches
Miss my Javelin. I had a 72 with a 401.

[Lamborghinis don't even bring that smile to Jay's face]
WOW!! No words here to describe what my eyes are seeing. Thank you Prestone
A 401 Javelin is a thing of beauty. I'm an Aussie and whilst in Vegas I oggled one every day for 3 months. Such a cool shape and so much potential. This shows what can be done! Cool AF 😎
I'll take one.
There is only one.
natrone23 thanks
Offer them da monei
Why cant new muscle cars lo0k like this 🤔
True, the Challenger is the closest thing to old Muscle
Charger doesn't look bad either
your right
because of the federal restrictions placed on auto design..
because now they have to be safe, and until we find cheap materials that can handle a crash test and still be sheet metal thin, were not going to get this type of car again.
This just ruined Mustangs for me. Damn this looks freakin awesome. And the exhaust 🤤 😍 ♥
This carmodel should be in mass production just because it is so beautiful and should be seen more!!!
I've had many AMC cars, but this one is somethin else. I want one
Can I take one of your old ones ?
