@@dirtypure2023 got it done! I did indeed have to take out the radiator. The most difficult part was just trying to get the wire connectors off the alternator itself. After that, getting the alternator off and back on was super easy.
@@joshirwin5245 Congrats! I've been struggling with that connector on top of the alternator on my '05, not enough room to grip it but I wanted to try cleaning it before going all in on a replacement. Did you need any unusual tools for your job?
@@dirtypure2023 I think I used a ratchet with 12" extension and wobbly socket to loosen the belt tensioner (from the top). The pulley I was able to get with a ratcheting wrench. I bought a set of those remover tools that he uses to get all of the plastic fasteners (like $10 on Amazon). I can't remember exactly how I got the wire connector, but I want to say I used just a pair of channel locks that were able to pinch both sides of the clip to release it.
I wanted to tell you that by watching your video I am no mechanic nor have I ever in my life changed an alternator but with your video and the fingers you happened to is to point at the parts I changed my whole alternator today! I did not have to remove my radiator but it was one huge B to get the alternator out, also that long bolt thru the hidden part was the biggest jerk of a bolt I have ever dealt with I fiddled for 40 mins to try and find a way to put it back in because that space is so small but what I did was I wedged a bar under the alternator by the pulley to lift and hold it aligned in place finally and I put that bolt thru the bigger opening from underneath the car and pushed it to be held in place by a part of the frame and wedged my hand up in that small space and finally got the bolt to go all the way in no problem at all. Pretty good instructions also I done it by myself.
i’ve done a few steps, but some bolts are seized and i can’t get the connectors off so i took a pause. the part of the video where you show the bolt on the alternator looks like you went through the fender well.. can you access that without taking the tire off? i have limited tools and the weather is shitty but i need this car up and running.
@@Sellthoseflippingcars thanks for the response! managed to clear all the ice and snow off the ground, got the wheel off.
