    I have a 2007 Nissan Murano SL AWD with 150k miles. I bought it 1 year ago for $5k and I’ve already put $4k into it in repairs (car drove amazing when I first bought it). It’s in the shop right now for the 2nd time within 2 weeks for the transmission. I find out in a few days if the transmission is done for good or not. ANYWAY, for close to a year, I’ve been hearing this strange almost grinding noise where my left front wheel area is. Specifically when I’m going slow and or turning into a parking spot/drive through. I was told by multiple shops there’s nothing wrong with it with the car. The grinding and crazy noises have been getting worse, and happening at all times when I was driving. the worst was today and sounded like the car was about to fall apart so I took it in right away. Well, this whole time I’ve been thinking it’s the wheel area but it’s actually the transmission making these crazy sounds, mimicking noises that was almost similar to a bad wheel bearing or something similar in that area. Definitely wasn’t expecting them to say it’s the transmission at all. Just putting that out there for anyone that may be experiencing this and not getting answers/being told the car is fine. Because all this time, the transmission has gotten worse for a year straight when it could’ve been fixed before it got this bad. I hope maybe this will help someone since I’m now in a bad situation with the car

      Nissan were so bad they were on the verge of closing, they tried Ford for help who said no. Renault took them over in 1999 so if Nissan were not helped out then they would probably would not even be around. Renault did not make Nissan cars worse it is the management at high level. I have been buying Renault cars for 24 ish years now and no problems with them. I own a 2005 Megane,2010 Megane, 2012 Megane and a 2019 Megane and my father has a 2014 Captur. @@alexgrant1979 Ford wanted but then said no. Mercedes also but then no cuz that would be too expensive for them - the risk. And Renault also wants the tech - but later more...
      We all know that Nissan wouldn't be around. 😉 But the cost of it. Sure the management. Ghosn sometimes even said that the cost cutting were not good but they had to at the beginning. The quality went bad there is no argue in that as Scotty always says. 😉
      But Renault also went better after 2000. All these platforms were led by Nissan! The EV tech all Nissan.
      The problem with this alliance is that they make the competition themselves. Look what Nissan had over the years in Europe. And look now. Renault is big here in the EU. Nissan isn't allowed to offer much here. The German and European management is really bad too, yes...
      I am glad that they offer fewer models in general now. Better quality than quantity. I don't care about the how biggest company they are.
      I want reliability back! More like Toyota not like VW.
      Plus they have good engineers. Motorsport, sportscars, luxury cars in Japan (miss the 80s...) and more.

    I have an 07 Murano with ~175k miles and it has been an "OK" car... not great.. just OK. I had to put a new power steering hose on recently (common problem with certain years), change the oil cooler gasket (another common problem but easy fix), change a couple of those fluid filled motor mounts (a royal pain), replace a couple of ignition coils, and repeatedly snake out my sunroof drains to prevent it from leaking inside the car (PITA to access exit side of drain). The plugs are also a bear since you have to take off the intake manifold to access the back 3 in the transverse V6 but only have to change every 100k-ish. I have also had a couple of drain and fills on the CVT since I got it used ~2012. It survived a regular 75-90 minute commute (one way) for several years in the bay area without stranding me. Fortunately, I have been able to complete the repair/maintenance work myself. If it makes it to 200k with the CVT intact I will be satisfied. I have always been paranoid about the crappy CVT so I am gentle on the accelerator. It is a FWD and I did notice it was made in Japan so maybe that helps? I am not sure where the newer ones are made/assembled. Like Scotty said, just don't pay too much.

    Love your vids, I just made a trade in deal on my 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport. I've had it for almost 5 years now, but no floor heat and other issues started showing up. But I'm getting a 2013 Murano SV, and when I worked at a Nissan Dealership 2 yrs ago I fell in love with them. I rather get into the Murano then keep this Liberty, only because I've been told once the 3.7 hits 140xxx miles they are know to have major engine issues. It has been good though up until a few months ago, great in the snow and off road. But no longer need a vehicle for that, I bought a quad for all my off road needs now. But appreciate your view on these!

    Why is it that people don't clean out the leaves and other debris at the base of the windshield especially near the cabin air intake? That stuff rots due to mold growth and makes particle matter that clogs the filter and can smell really bad.

    Nice commentary and great insider historical points of interests. Glad you didn't use trashy words like stupid or doomed for failure. Lexus earned their prestigious reputation by their quality, performance and treating their customers as truly loyal owners. Look where Mercedes is today. My brother in law who is an excellent mechanic hates working on Mercedes vehicles because of their complex engineering and captive service agendas. Try buying a set of windshield wipers or changing the oil on a Mercedes that is only two years old, outside on your own. The captive service at an authorized Mercedes dealership is intentional, to gouge you out of even more money. The name Mercedes is only a status driven facad and not based on any reliability traditions.

    It's not the CVT trans thats the problem, it's how people drive them, irratic on and off the gas constantly will ruin them quickly.

    • @JohnZornAscended
      @JohnZornAscended 19 дней назад

      That’s not true. Otherwise they’d all be in the junkyard. CVTs use a crazy amount of synthetic fluid and some have a cooler. The belt naturally shaves little bits into the fluid, if you don’t catch it, it’ll grenade.

    Just mail the codes to him and he will tell you what it needs. He can tell you what part is listed in the code, so you can replace that and waste your money. He will certainly not have you perform any actual diagnostic work, which is what is really required. Maybe just change the spark plugs and use some chemical that can fix any problem with an engine.

    My moms 2012 rogue awd has 197k miles and still runs and drives. She’s never put money into it besides maintenance. I had a question though. Sometimes if she doesn’t use it for a few days or week it won’t start. Then when she holds the gas pedal down a bit while cranking over it does start right up. Is this something she should be worried about?

    • @markh.6687
      @markh.6687 3 года назад +1

      Since it should normally start without depressing the gas pedal, she should have the car scanned. It may show some kind of fuel system issue (vacuum leak, pressure loss, or fuel pump perhaps). If she can deal with starting it holding the pedal, then leave it alone until it won't start at all.

    • @alexviking9383
      @alexviking9383 3 года назад

      @@markh.6687 ok thanks. My dad has a scan tool I will hook it up and see what is says, although it’s not a super fancy scan tool. It is rarely a problem as she pretty much uses it every day. It happens a couple times a month only if the car sits for at least 3 days or so.
