    As someone who lives in a town that got hit by this tornado, I just wanna say that I appreciate all of the kind words and consideration so many people are pouring out here. I know people like to make fun of "thoughts and prayers" but it legitimately warms my heart to see so much compassion.

    I watched RUclipsr meteorologist Ryan Hall the whole time he was live last night. God bless him and his team for being so diligent and saving lives by getting the word out from tornado to tornado. Last night's system seems like a nightmare. So many touch downs in so many states and oh my gosh all the ones listed as killer tornados. This is truly heartbreaking. I'm from Alabama. I know it's not much but I prayed for everyone each time a tornado touched down. I cried as I saw the expressions of the meteorologists and hearing the seriousness and danger in their voices. My heart breaks for everyone who was in the path of last night's horror. 😢 I'm so sorry this happened. I'm so happy for the ones who survived and grieving for the ones who have lost family and friends and even livelihood. I'll be praying for you in the days to come. I have been through two tornados but nothing no where near as what happened last night. I can't even imagine what you're waking up to this morning. I hope better days will be ahead of you. I'm so very sorry.

      Yeah, some unusually large rippers in IA earlier.
      I woke up this morning and it was 63 and humid in Chicago. (40 something last night) Could just feel the energy.
      We've has a mild/non - winter in the upper midwest this year. I'm expecting a lot more severe storms this year than we've had in the past 3-4+ yrs. If the jet-stream starts to move back to "normal" (aka since I was born in the '60s) we'll got whooped. The last 5ish years have been rather odd - mild summers, mild winters... hmmm ok.
      Anyway kids, and/or people new to the MW, get your preps ready (case in point - the wealtyest side of Chicago didn't have elec.. power for 7-8 days a few years ago.). While we may not be in a hurricane/earthquake zone, better to be prepped a year early than a hour late.

      It takes time. The following days (weather permitting) will begin the cleanup process, lots of people come from all over the place to help whenever towns or communities get destroyed like this. There is of course the matters of insurance and whatnot that can complicate things. Generally speaking, though, people will be there to help from chainsawing those downed limbs and such until the last bit of paint goes onto the new or repaired house. I think it's truly beautiful the way people are so ready to help others without question or expectation of repayment, the thing that bums me out about it is that I wish we could all be in that frame of mind always and not just in times of great tragedy.

      @@mud5377 but if you live in a place like this, you know the chance of it happening again is great... I wonder if they just get used to it or figure they got hit once, what are the odds of getting hit twice? I'm not one to take risks, lol, so I think I'd take the insurance payment and rebuild if I had to, then sell... Or just take the money and go....to a state that isn't 🌪️ prone. I HATE high wind storms up here on the coast of Massachusetts, let alone a twister, no flippn way!

    • @mud5377
      @mud5377 Год назад +4

      @@Em22-wtf Well I guess the likelihood of it happening is low ENOUGH that people can justify living here. I'd also say the events on Friday are definitely not what I would call common, although with changing weather patterns due to climate change it's possible they're more likely to follow this path. I live in a smaller town not far from Little Rock and the last tornado to hit the town was like 50 years ago. I've lived here since 1996 and anytime they've come close to this area they typically wind up out in the countryside just tearing through farmland and cow pastures and such. I love it here and I have an emergency plan for taking shelter when these storms happen, so I guess my love for the nature and whatnot outweighs my fear of the storm. Believe me though, I don't like em either! I had a combination of adrenaline and pure fear when it got close, I still have to function in order to make sure everyone is safe, but I physically felt the fear like a tingle/cold chill in my spine :| Couldn't tell you the last time I felt that sensation, but I haven't been that scared in a very long time!

      There were some. It's sad no matter the circumstance, however, there's way less casualties than you'd imagine looking at the destruction and the tornado itself. I believe the weather teams at the local news stations saved many lives with how they handled this storm, they told people before the storm even ramped up to be prepared to take cover. Almost immediately when the storm picked up steam it was apparent the likelihood for a tornado was high and they were quick to tell people to take shelter NOW. So both their diligence as well as people taking them seriously likely prevented many from losing their lives or being seriously injured. There's always going to be injuries and potentially deaths with these storms, but it could have definitely been much worse.

      Well, it's been called Tornado Alley for decades. Keep in mind, everyone has a digital camera now and the internet. Add to that stormchasers and 'instant news' media. Other nations are pounded more by hurricanes, we have those plus tornadoes. Today was bad because several large areas had intense weather patterns. The bands weren't developed enough in Hot Springs, but by the time they sailed past us on the way to Little Rock, you see the results.
