2002 Ford Ranger Stereo 3C3T-18C815-AC Wont turn on repair.

A viewer sent me a factory stereo from a 2002 Ford Ranger model 3C3T-18C815-AC with the complaint of erratic operation. I found the adhesive pads under 2 of the inductors had become conductive (like yellow glue). I cleaned the corrosion and hard wired the open traces and all is good again.

I had that same radio in my 2002 ford escape. It sounded great and had a subwoofer. The cd player eventually stopped working. It brought back memories of that car

Smashing repair :-D, the darkness of the through plating is always a worry.
There is no way of knowing how long the radio has been sitting in a nasty damp location.
Like a damp shed.
Getting the correct connector can be a time of hair pulling out, while swearing lol.

It is wild that Ford had a 6 CD changer in such a compact space. Many mfg had multidisc changers, but that usually involved a separate unit elsewhere in the vehicle. Nice job finding the open traces! Do you think the glue holding the coil in place caused the corrosion to the feed throughs?

Doesn't silicone RTV adhesive have an acidic base ? It always smells like vinegar when it cures
