Chris, why bring it into Production when we do use the guids in combining? and in Production, we can compare it to the ABM as a feature. That can't be done if they are both in Production.
@@adelphia27 hey Todd. I wasn’t able to see GUIDS in action in combining. When I brought two kiss files in with a customer (I know kiss don’t have Guids) there was no change detection in combining. Ricky had mentioned something about how production allows you to automatically make updates and more control on the import but also mentioned if ABM marks are right that you can compare a combining run against Production run. Is there good videos demonstrating this whole process? I can’t import xml into combining so I probably need to make a special kiss export of the parts that don’t shorten the lengths?
Chris, you mention it in your video that the IFC can be brought in and that does handle GUIDS. However Todd (and this is a big however), everything in an ABM is going to change once the model is connected. So when you have hundreds or thousands of pieces in a revised ABM it is incredibly tedious and tough to actually wade through all of the changes to see what actually matters. I have clients that just throw their hands up and do it manually instead, and I can understand why. Plus, changes brought into combining do not uncombine the associated pieces in purchasing/inventory. So bringing it into production control is better from that perspective. There are repercussions for this though once you receive a release for fab.
