I've had one almost identical to that one for a long time. Maybe ten years? I've kept it in my wall tent, in my hunting shack on wheels and most recently in the back of my little travel trailer. It's been to some beautiful places. It's gradually fallen apart over the years. The first to go was the antenna. I took it apart and attached a short length of copper wire and put the wire in my teeth while I was cranking it (the battery wasn't much good but it worked) and I'd listen to NOAA forecasts with the wire in my mouth while cranking. Worked. But now the crank has broke. So I've been thinking about upgrading to something a little better. But I'm also thinking of all the places that thing has been and how dependable it's been. It's been taken apart and glued back together but, hey, I suspect I got my money's worth out of it!

Just a toy. It has a battery that most people can't replace with no provision for alkalines. It's junk.
