  • The day started with either my camera port or mic system having water damage. The editing might seem choppy in this. Most of the footage had sound issues and “popping” noises all over.
So I pivoted and chopped the pieces of ok sound together. The fish weren’t biting. So I pivoted and switched species. Those fish were shorts so I pivoted and changed locations.
If you go about your fishing days without a plan B, C, D, E, F… you are generally going to end it feeling disappointment. But if you pivot and adjust, you’ll end up learning more and always catch something.
Hopefully I’ll have the gear fixed and back to filming next week.

Hey Bob, nice to see your videos again. As per your request at 2:48 ( Bash, bash, bash).. Lol.
Catching the little fish is fun on a super light setup.

Ba ba bashin, great to hear from you bud. Yeah I wanna do more salt micro this year in NYC. I never see anyone doing it on the piers

@@BobAquatic if you can do the super micro jigs where you almost need a scope to thread the hook would be something completely different. I saw this person on "FishAngler" app do that, but those are just pictures and not a video. So it would be cool.

When bottom bouncing spoons for fluke and/or stripers, I used to lose so many Kastmasters and Hopkins that I began buying knockoff Kastmasters. Lure Parts Online sells blanks, as do other places. It's less painful to lose a couple each trip! or, if you're nuts like me, for a winter project buy a Do It Molds spoon mold, the wire forms, and a melting pot, and pour your own. I use tin instead of lead, tin gives better action, and it's still WAY cheaper than buying Kastmasters.

That sounds like a nice way to save money

@@BobAquatic Pouring your own is work, but definitely try the knockoff spoons though. And a tip, try scuffing up one side of each spoon with sandpaper, and then spray paint that side ( I do the side with Kastmaster stamped on it) with a good pearl white enamel. It will definitely up the strikes. I told this tip to an old guy who fishes tins a ton. He was blown away!

Hell yeah Bob! Been having a great fluke season so far from shore myself. You got that kastmaster technique down dude so sick ! What weight are you using if you don’t mind me asking ? Anyways catch ‘em up dude. Also a fan of the double gulp juice dip ✌🏾🤙🏾

Hey Karl! It is a 1oz kastmaster. For the metals I feel like you gotta get a little more aggressive with jigging. Not sure why but it’s a pattern I’ve noticed and so I usually weight them a little heavier than a plastic. It might be a drop time, fluttering motion they like

@@Fish-Erman You guys know something that I don't.because I don't know why you would fish a kastmaster instead of a fluke bullet,a 3/4 oz bullet with small white gulp would do the job.even the stripers will hit it if they see it.

Another fun day on the water!
    Always something to learn.

I got a couple and honestly not sure which one was in this video. Id suggest finding a g Loomis dealer and trying one out in person. The action on every rod is very different. They’re not cheap but it’s a lifetime warranty and American made

    Bob Another quick question
What lb test is your braid on a day like this when there's different fish in the water?
I don't always want to bring 2 rods with me when I want to fish for fluke.
I'll usually just go with my 9ft and 30lb braid when I'm going to be fishing multiple species. Then just change the leader size.
Rather then bring both my 7ft fluke rod and reel and the 10ft surf rod.
    Any opinions either way?
    Thanks man

    • @BobAquatic
      @BobAquatic  2 месяца назад

I think this was 20lb braid. Sometimes you can make it work with a long leader but I also bring two reels in my backpack occasionally. One spooled with 30-40, one with 10-20. Then a 7ft medium heavy covers pretty much everything
