- I was backing up a hard drive yesterday and found this little gem on it. (I've really got to sort through that Patti folder!) Anyway, I'm surprised no one has ever posted this interview with Patti-cake and her giant, adorable glasses.

She is so freakin' sweet, beautiful, and talented. Also, the way she talks makes me think so much, not because it's complicated, but because it actually means something, and you don't find that a lot anymore.
And those GLASSES are perfect!!!!
I love watching interviews with her. I could watch her all day long. And, yes, those GLASSES!
I saw this production with LuPone in the role. I don't remember any specific detail, but I remember my first impression. When LuPone first took the stage, she owned it, instantly.
omg this is everything! look at her she is stunning
She is, isn't she? I love this look. Such a beauty, our Patti - then and now.
Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous
AH SHE'S SO CUTE😭 i think i just died a couple of times
Same. That woman is perfection!
she’s so gorgeous!!
She really is.
She absolutely is!
Right, how can someone be THIS beautiful, and the glasses OMG😯❤️
Isn't she lovely in this? I love the look!
Thanks for posting this. I am from Minneapolis and was just talking to someone about seeing this yesterday!
Do you mean the play or the interview? If you saw the play. I am so jealous. It's difficult to even find photos of it! Also, if it was the play, how was it? :-)
@@JoannesVodkaStinger The play. I didn't see it--- I was in high school at the time and was busy being a teenager but my parents saw it and my mom was particularly intrigued because she was/is a huge fan of singers and had read about Patti during Evita. (I think she was a little disappointed that Patti was being brought in for a nonmusical.) As for the reception... Liviu Ciulei was a very challenging director, both for the actors and the audiences. My folks admitted they struggled with his productions. They acknowledged that Ciulei was *really* innovative and they respected him for it but other artistic directors at the G more closely fit their tastes.
I actually have ties at the Guthrie, including one person who *might* still occasionally connect with Patti. If we ever get to see each other in-person, I should ask. As for pictures, I suspect there is a photo of her on one of the walls of the Guthrie. When they moved into the new building, they hung archival photos in all the hallways. I can't imagine she's not there.
Wow, this is really interesting - thanks for sharing it. :-) I would love to dig through their archives!
Ooo, you lucky person! I got to see 3 brilliant plays there, as a teen, at the Guthrie, 1975/6 …. MAGICAL ! Alas, did not see this production - but I’ve been lucky enough to see and hear Patti onstage 7 times - in London, NYC and Philly. She just is something else! The Gold Standard. Brava, Ms. Lupone! ❤️. She’s so amazing. I’d love to see anymore interviews you have, I just love hearing her speak about her craft and her career!
I'll have a look and see what I can find that hasn't been posted by someone else. :-)
Thank you thank you thank you for posting Patti's Never Never Land from LGO!
The Patti I love (and this would be about the time I first..ummm ..met her!).
Ah, to have access to your memories for just a bit, Jeff. So jealous! ❤
Thank you for this! Your entire channel is great.
Thank you so much! :-)

I admire Patti, but I leave a comment here because of the interviewer that he looks so much like Christian Bale in the movie Vice.
So gorgeous. She's 33 here
