I just got a Thinkpad recently and having only just found out about 'em and seeing videos about 'em, I find these machines so fascinating My Thinkpad is an E550, and it looks remarkably similar to the W541 here (being big, having a numpad and everything), but I'm not sure what the differences are exactly Still, it's pretty cool to see people upgrade and mod these things, and show off their collections
Awesome! I'm glad to hear. If you are willing, I would recommend getting the W541 trackpad vs the W540's "clunk pad" trackpad. The difference is night and day. I did a similar mod to my T440p when I still had it.
@@fazedawaymachinesonline I suspect that need will become obvious to me as I experience it for myself. I've already noticed it was a bit odd... 👍😁 But it's not a major concern since I often use a wireless mouse.
My dad has a Thinkpad form 1996. It still turns on and works. It needs to be connected at all time but it works. I wonder if it’s the first one they ever made because it had a lot of manuals and paperwork introducing the ThinkPad and saying it was the first of its kind. Back when IBM was IBM 🤣
That's awesome! I would definitely try to keep that model around for as long as you can. Paperwork for older stuff is getting a little harder to come by. I wish IBM still made the ThinkPad line instead of being sold to Lenovo, I feel that Lenovo has made the newer line of devices a little unreliable. I'm basing that opinion off of my repair experience with the newer models.
Hi there, Nice collection. Wonder, You have a T60P with Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, Nice, but they You have also a T61 with a T7300, newer no del with slower CPU. That T61 can do better. Last, If I we're You I ˋll keep the T60P, correct, and the X230. This last one can have the X220 keyboard, the screen can be updated and have the best of the classic IBM plus a faster CPU, USB 3.0 and portability, it's only 3 lbs
Thank you! I have though about getting a T61p but usually the cost of them is way more than what I want to pay for one. I have definitely been contemplating selling my X230, maybe it'll stick around for a little longer.
I have a thinkpad a485 I bought off of ebay great condition for 229 total (Price, tax, and shipping) It has a ryzen 5 2500u and I upgraded the ram to 2x8 gb
Just upgraded a t540p (fhd, nvidia 730) from i5-4300 to i7-4810mq, 16gb ram, 1tb 2,5, new battery.. I sold not that long tine ago one t60 that had 1680*1650 screen, id reader that i upgraded to t7700.. I have a plan to move away from x201 that has an i7 first gen.. 8gb ram.. condition is "used". If soneone wants it added to a collection.

Nice!
Just bought a W540 on Marketplace last week... Loving it!
That maxed out W541 is bound to make somebody real happy!
Cheers! ;-]

I have been thinking about getting one of those for the last few months. I hope that computer serves you well!

Very nice! I had almost the same spec in a T440p I had a while ago. That T60 you had was quite a gem.
