Totally AWESOME video of IDALIA, Josh! It's crazy to see how much Perry and the surrounding areas have changed over the years, I remember this area well from the Elena chase in 1985. It definitely looks like they took a bit of a beating and they're lucky that it wasn't worse. Great capture as always!
Hey man. Great work you're doing here. First came across your work back during Dorian. Sat my entire family down to watch to show the immense power of a hurricane. Keep it up man.
Wow, thank you so much. I so appreciate that. I'm glad you saw my DORIAN video, and I'm honored you showed it to your whole family. I feel that is my best one.
@iCyclone yeah, have 2 young boys that have never seen the power and devastation these storms pack. You did an excellent cover, I was scared put of my wits and I wasn't there.
Another great chase Josh. You and Pecos Hank are the best weather chasers I reckon. I would love to see Pecos do a hurricane chase with you and you do a tornado hunt with Pecos.
Thanks so much for these incredibly kind words, Anthony. I work hard at my craft and I appreciate this. And I'm honored that you'd compare me to Pecos Hank-- he is the real deal.
@@iCyclone you do work very hard at it, I watch them over and over and your passion is very obvious. I live in Karratha, Western Australia and had the eye of TC Damien go right over us in Feb 2020. Not alot of them willing to do the homework you do. I look forward to seeing more of your vids. Like pashonic said, seeing you drive through the night is very interesting. Most cars and trucks are getting the heck out of Dodge and you are going in the opposite direction towards the fury. Keep up the good work Josh !
Been shooting video for 30 years and never covered one. I need to take your class! I watch most all your videos just to learn. Great job as always Josh!
I'm impressed but not too surprised that you managed to get in the calm of the eye on this one, considering the terrain, the size of the storm, and the track wobbles. You truly are the hurricane whisperer. ;)
Squeak of joy when I saw you’d posted. Always quality production & information, and it’s great that you identify these places & make visible what they have to deal with. Hope they get support . Well done Josh & team. 😊
Great work, man! I saw you out there, haha! Was gonna honk and wave but didn't wanna ruin your filming, haha! This one reminded me of Ian with the back eyewall packing more of a punch
I love your videos! The narration is just enough and there is no obnoxious music. Instead, we see and hear nature as it reminds us who is really in charge. 🌀 Perfect! I hope you’ll always be safe…and that you get a good night sleep at least from time to time. 😴😴😴
Thanks so much, Alex. That means so much to me, because I really wrestled with how much narration to include-- and your note suggests I struck the right balance. 🙂 One rule of mine: do the talking before and after the storm, but shut up *during* the storm so the viewer can really hear it.
Good stuff, Josh! Idalia seemed a little more mellow than most category 3 hurricanes, especially after watching your 2014 Odile video in Cabo. I most enjoyed the footage around 10:23. Trees making loud sounds like that give me the heebie jeebies!
What a great surprise, and the long form version, love it, Josh, thanks! And I learned a new word, capricious, perfect description 🙂. You got some great footage, as always, and nailed the eye, as always, congrats 👊. How on Earth you kept your cool when that debris was flying towards you in the car park, I'll never know! Thanks so much, Lois, for giving it such a close watch. I really appreciate your attention to all the details. ♥ The visual in the beginning is an infrared satellite imagery. Great video sir! Idalia was really intense regarding the wind damage... Worst wind damage ever seen since Hurricane Michael... The possible reason of this could be extremely low pressure of Idalia (940 mbar).... Also, this was, in my opinion, way worse for Big bend region, surpassing the severity of 1896 Cedar Key Hurricane...
Great video as always from you! That weird bit of turbulence at around 15:00, was that the edge of some sort of tornadic circulation? I noticed a lower, darker cloud departing the area just as the strong winds tapered off. Hard to tell, but vaguely looked like some sort of wall cloud?
The hurricane is very strong, it scares me more when a hurricane hits at night. However, when it hits during the day it doesn't scare me as much because I see how it advances. 🌀🌀🌀🌫
