    Hey, this is my town. I was there. No electricity for a week, water was scarce for months, mosquitoes would cover you from head to toe after just a few days. It took more than a month to get back on track, and also the communities inland have been deeply affected by the amount of rain. It was insane, first hurricane in my life. Honestly not a great feeling when it's your town and all of your family and friends live there, have businesses there, have been working hard for years and years to build their own thing to see it smashed in 2 hours. Maybe the most beautiful thing was to watch the entire land go as green as we have never seen in two weeks. Thanks for the video, gave me the chills. Kinda triggered right now. I landed on this video because there's now a 90% chance of formation right in the same spot Agatha formed last year, so we're kinda holding our breath here. Really don't wanna live it all over again.

      Thanks for this note. This hurricane surprised me-- was much stronger than I expected. It sounds like the recovery was tough! I am glad you made it through, and that things are better now. You'll be pleased to know that the thing that's forming offshore now shouldn't be a problem for you guys down in Oaxaca.

    • @user-yp2lv1om3j

      @@iCyclonehow come? It's forming exactly in the same spot and although the storm is moving fast, last year the storm passed Oaxaca and then when the hurricane formed it came right back to us. I'm curious because after last year I am kinda fascinated by hurricanes now and would love to know more.

    • @iCyclone

      @@user-yp2lv1om3j Just because a storm is in the same spot as a previous one doesn't mean it will move in the same direction or develop the same way. Every system is unique. This one (which will be named HILARY) is not coming near Oaxaca. Follow me on Twitter or Facebook (@iCyclone) if you're interested in the meteorological side-- I talk about that stuff more there. This video is absolutely INSANE!!! From the short clip you had shared a while back I knew Agatha would be good… but I wasn’t expecting it to be THAT incredible! Those winds are unbelievable, and definitely look stronger than the official landfall intensity! And your videography is amazing, as always! The location and shots are all on point, and capture the hurricane’s violence perfectly! This video is easily among my all-time favorites from your extensive portfolio of chases!!!

I am excited that you think it's one of my best, because I put a lot of work into it. So, big, big thanks. Re: the storm's landfall intensity... I hate to doubt the experts, but it was weirdly intense for a presumed 90-knot hurricane. Let's just say it was BY FAR the most intense Cat 2 I've been in. 😀

    I LOVE your show. Question from me.
    A very recent cyclone involved an eye passing over friends and family ....they all commented that in the stillness of the eye, the smell was rank. It smelled of off fish....obviously the cyclone had travelled over a lot of water.
    Is this common and what would be the reasoning of the fish smell...or really strong odour in the eye of the storm ?

      @@iCyclone Cheer’s for the reply. I dig all your videos and going back years before Hurricane man. Ever since I lived through a big storm in Sussex UK in 1997, (our Hurricane) I was 8 and I looked out of my window out at corn fields, when the fields we’re lit up with the flashing of lighting I witnessed twin twisters 🌪 very small but fast moving across fast in a straight line. Every flash they moved far. I didn’t know what I was seeing at the time and what I was hearing with the wind, and the power was out so got straight back to bed. Until I learned at school and then the movie twister ten years later I understand what I see that night. I’ve been obsessed with storms ever since and the science, I love weather maps and models and watch live stream’s but I got to experience for real. Hurricane first as I can jump on a plane ✈️ 24 hour’s before landfall in a southern state and next world be the Philippines maybe. Anyway sorry for holding you up, you do bring the experience onto our screens and I appreciate that and the beautiful places you go to chase which been selected by the storm. Cheers buddy 🇬🇧 🇺🇸👍🏽

    Josh, this video and the quality of your filming is fantastic! AGATHA was nuts! Cat 2?! Those whiteout conditions from the second floor (you are semi-nuts too - in the nicest possible way!) reminded me a bit of DORIAN. Your footage clearly showed the intensification around 3.30pm. I still love your shots where the spray is curving over the broken window pane, definitely one of my favs of 2022.
    What happened at 3.47pm, was that when the door decided to take flight?
    I'm really enjoying this longer format of your chase accounts, Josh, I imagine it's a lot more work for you, so thank you. It does highlight the torment you go through to nail the eye. Your "Circling" section made me laugh a lot..."Lol. Nope." 😂 (I guess you and Erik weren't laughing at the time!)

      Lois! Your commentary, as always, is so thoughtful. Thank you. And I loooooooove that you saved this for the big screen-- because that is the way to watch a hurricane. ❤ I can't remember exactly what happened at 3:47 pm. I think it all just got a little out of control. I was on that second level without guardrails, and I could no longer see what was going on. Everything just got kind of... crazy. Thanks, especially, for the feedback about the Circling chapter. That was the most experimental part of this video, and I was having trouble deciding how to approach it and what to include-- so I'm glad to know it amused you. 😀 But, yeah, I decided to start including that stuff in these videos so folks can see what happens on a chase behind the scenes-- how much thinking and driving (and obsessing) goes into getting into position. Anyhoo, thanks so much for noticing all these details-- it makes the time I spend working on these videos worth it. 👊

    When I saw this video and when you said that Hurricane Agatha was going to be category 2 at landfall I thought that Agatha might behave like Hurricane Delta cause Hurricane delta was a category 2 storm the wind was strong but it did little damage but this video I was so wrong Hurricane Agatha has proven that it was much stronger than a category 2

    • @jacoblaryea5851
      @jacoblaryea5851 Год назад +1

      OK honestly I seriously thought that Hurricane Agatha will be a weak hurricane at landfall the winds don't seem like it was a category 2 it felt more intense for just a category 2 hurricane

    Is the shot at 18:49 there on purpose? It's pretty distracting to be enthralled in the storm then a random shot of your mouth comes up for a few seconds.
