- From The Road in Alaska: a personal story of former professional ski guide Eric Henderson with a unique view into the sport of backcountry skiing.
From The Road is a story of a skier’s personal journey, seen through the lens of redemption and triumph. Delivered through the unique personal perspective of former professional ski guide Eric Henderson, the film is centered on a human powered ski adventure in Alaska with a diverse team of ski athletes on iconic peaks in the heart of the Chugach Mountains. From The Road offers a unique view into the sport of backcountry skiing, and both its human limitations and liberations, ultimately revealing why this particular group of skiers have joined - to give Henderson another try at Meteorite Peak, a foreboding peak normally reserved for helicopter skiing, where he broke his neck in 2009 causing his professional guiding career to come to a screeching halt.
Look behind the scenes and follow Eric on his adventure!

Human powered AK skiing, we love it!
8:35 "With some good luck I was fine and walked away from another great day in the mountains." Probably the most nonchalant statement that could have been made about that incident.
Awesome. Even if you hate skiing, I don't know how you can dislike this video.
Serious balls on those guys. Congrats on the comeback mate!
Awesome film. Awesome group trip by the looks of it. Everything it's all about. Massive Fan.

They use self made snowshoe platforms.

These look extremely similar to the Ascent Plates made by Billy Goat Tech, which I would highly recommend!

Anyone happen to know the Artist + Title of the Song that begins about 14:25 and ends about 16:00? There are credits at the end of the Film, and I feel like this is Track 9, which should be Yetagon Mountain by Chris Child, but I went to his link, and can't find a song by that name. Nor do I get any results w/ the Google =\ Sick Song, would love to know who made it!!
Wow...What would Doug say.....
oh course the wifey is sporting a goggle tan haha
all that to look rad on the camera, instead of skiing sections one at time
lol my unclw
Lots of talking about just how great everyone is instead of just skiing!
does anybody know the title of the song starting at 1:40?
Princess of persuasion by wes makes peace
Never thought I'd see someone else telemark AK like I did in '92. Used to hike from the road but never topped out. Nice turns Hendy. YEW!
If the dynafit team need a swiss ski intructor, I' m free.
A couple friends (Matty and Kev) and I (Gabe) were the first to climb and ski Meteorite in 95. I wasn't old enough to drink. Matty and Kev were on tele's, with Merril Supercomps. I was on RD coyote's with Silvereta 404's, first year of the Denali's I think. Matty's cable broke at the top and he used perlon as his cable. I got so gripped at the top I called for a rope the last hundred feet, but went first off the top. We skied down in shit light. Still one of the coolest descents I,ve had the pleasure to complete. Rode Big League today almost 30 years later to the day. Cheers to the fallen, keeps us safe my friends, much love.
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

I always wonder if anybody actually reviews these video's before posting: how is anybody supposed to understand a word anybody says with such an unbalance of sound :-( ... Music is supposed to be background for dialogue ... background ... arghhh well
Very, very groovy and all that but let's head them downhill and stop talking!
Awesome video. Valdez is awe inspiring. Even if you don't ski it Go see it.
6:55 - 7:20
why take a right and traverse UNDER a gigantic cornice when you could have climbed the summit ridge in safety by crossing it, then topping out from the other side?
Carl Swenson because under the cornice it had already slid (see fracture line). So it was theoretically safer than channelling up the fully formed cornice above
@@bimfred i certainly wasn't there. however, frame 7:02 certainly seems to show a clear path to the ridge.
Guys. Awesome production and great story of resurrection. I'm in my early fifties and coming off open heart surgery 18 months ago. I can go downhill last ski season, but still sucking wind on the ascent. In the gym right now watching this for inspiration. Thanks for that!!
EMay good luck and you will get there soon!!
Anyone else think that was Bradley Cooper at 6:10
man, we all need the name of the song starting @1:40!
wesmakepeace/p-o-p
thanks!
Does anybody know the name of the song at 19:37? Thx
Holiday Heart by Ki Theory -- all of the songs are in the credits. This song is both Track 10 and Track 12.
No better way to know the conditions than to hike your line. I hike many lines in the Chugach & they can be found at faithandaction.net.
And though you talk about things happening for a reason, a higher power, & blessings, it is obvious that you are not following Jesus Christ after having repented from your sins. You must be born-again to see the Kingdom of Heaven. Jim Rippey found the real God while standing on a peak in those same mountains, you should too.
