    I think LOTS of people will find these 3.5 videos helpful. 3.5 is by far the largest population and also the one that does not have regular coaches unlike others catered to advanced players that can also learn through their high school, college, club coaches …
    This is perfect.

    I have just recorded myself serving a few days ago, i have totally the same service motion. I was shocked when i watched my serve, i thought before i have a pretty nice service motion, like a pro :-D I immediately decided i have to improve a lot my serve, but i hadn't clue about the first steps. And, now, like a miracle, here it is what i have to do! Thx, Nicola!

    dang, can't argue with those results, great coach, great student. the presentation is ace, too, with the side by sides, annotated freeze frames, and PIP replays. you condense a lot of helpful info into a short amount of time. very helpful, living up to your channel's name!

    Happy hearing you saying the front foot bares most of the weight in the knee bend, I’ve see a couple coaches in the past and one now teaching students to fully load the back foot and drive from there…if anyone’s tried that they’d know it’s borderline impossible and not one big server today or before has ever served like that either so I really don’t know where that idea comes from.

    The jump is really about the forward momentum and weight transfer. In other words, but for that little hop, you'd fall forward. It's really to catch yourself. Great video. You are an outstanding teacher. Thanks.

    This was great, helps me tremendously. I know I have the speed and power but lack consistency and I feel the biggest issues I’ve had is the almost the same he has, toss more in front and bend my knees more. The arm speed has never been my issue the speed and power is there and I’ll serve a bomb here and there in matches but I couldn’t figure why I wasn’t consistent.

      Nadal and Federer don't have a very deep racket drop. Still 120mph+ first serve.
      I guess it is not a must to drop the racket below the hip for huge speed?

  • @markchan006

    He thinks his first serve is bad so he tries not to involve his lower body, thinking this'd make his serve more stable. But this actually further stops his body from lifting up and hence a lower contact point and more balls not going over the net. Sometimes we just don't know our exact issue and attribute our problem to a wrong cause.
    In this case, Bremen probably thought his legs and his old pinpoint stance were his faults for not making enough 1st serve. But Nick figured out other reasons.

  • @ducksu_6243
    @ducksu_6243 Год назад

    one thing i notcied is no matter how far inside the court he throws the ball, he tends to go under it with his body, so he ends up always hitting the ball up above is head instead of in front of it.
    you can see that by how he lands on the left foot.. no weight transfer, the right foot should be somewhere around his butt because of all the weight transfer but instead it just stay on the court barely lifting

    Been watching your videos for a long time now thank you! I am teaching both my kids, I am teaching them what you are teaching here, more of a flat or slice serve. Their part time coach though is saying to only serve more of a spin (kick) serve style. He says do not teach the kids (8 years old) the flat serve. Would you agree with him?

    Great stuff Nick love your service instruction. Impressive improvement is just one lesson! related question: do you talk of head positioning somewhere on the serve? by this i mean, I've noticed high/elite level servers turn their head just before hitting the ball so they're looking at their target. this also puts their head in a less stressed more natural position. any thoughts on this part of the service motion?
