Jane Elliott's Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes exercise divided her class and a nation.
"Blue eyed people are smarter than brown eyed people, they are cleaner than brown eyed people, they are more civilized than brown eyed people."
Its' 1968 and Martin Luther King has just been killed. A boy asks his 3rd grade teacher - "Why did they kill that king?". This led to a classroom activity that divided students and the nation.
One of the negative comments received was "“How dare you try this cruel experiment out on white children? Black children grow up accustomed to such behavior, but white children, there's no way they could possibly understand it. It's cruel to white children and will cause them great psychological damage”

The idea is pretty interesting, but I don't think it's good to use the social experiment on children, especially if they haven't started puberty.

I really don't think blue or green eyes have anything to do with race. I'm a North Indian. My grandmother was blue eyed. Most of the females in my extended family, particularly my cousins have green eyes and one of my male cousin has grey eyes. I have light brown eyes. So many variations in eye colour within a family. I don't think eye colour is specific to a particular race.

The only theory is that Aryans had Blue and green eyes and the Aryans was not a region specific group and not solely associated with Europe. They migrated to Europe, Iran, India, etc. and intermixed with the local populations there.
The experiment did not prove anything, and the teacher herself admitted to discplining students who refused to partake. Even if it were effective in producing two groups segregated, with an opressor and opressed (which it isnt), it would only prove that children are impressionable and not rational, and that they put rely on their guardian for guidance.

Test score results were suppressed.
During the heyday of Elliott's the Blue eye vs Brown eye exercises the test score results were actually hidden from the media/public. During the experiment the test scores were supposed to show poor grades for those being discriminated against & better scores for those being told they were the better people. But that part was eliminated from the findings. I wonder why?

If you actually think about it having these traits are inferior due to the fact that these traits are caused from a lack of melanin which protects you from UV rays. Making you more prone to sun burn and possible skin cancer.

Ive been targeted for my blue eyes and blonde hair. White kids, and especially brown kids that didn't have these features rejected me or attacked me. So I imagine the blue eye kids in this experiment, (which still goes on) have suffered lifelong anxiety and depression and are now antisocial.
It's the opposite. The brown eyed pupils in this experiment were discriminated against, so they are more likely to suffer from trauma. I'm sorry you were bullied for your eye colour. I was also bullied for having brown eyes by blue eyed people.

Brown eyes, brown eye whites with a slight tan are not my equals, nor I theirs and it becomes real very early. If you don’t have these features, you couldn’t imagine. However maybe you could with a red head or a very black Sudanese. Or a very Asian kids in the Midwest.

Also, coincidentally, I was watching a documentary about the genetic make up study of vikings and it appears vikings were norse men mixed with south europeans. Mixed heritage means they most likely had brown eyes. Not at all what we thought they looked like all these years.

I kind felt this way growing up because on my dad’s side of the family a lot of people have light coloured eyes and he wanted his kids to have blue eyes but we all ended up with mom’s eye colour brown. I used to see brown as “dirty” or “undesirable.” And blue as “special” and “unique.” Well, this is true to a small extent, because more people have brown eyes green is actually the most rare eye colour. And I read people with brown eyes are less subject to eye problems and cancers compared to people with light eyes so, I felt better about having brown eyes.
