  • Inside the Tower of London during the reign of King Henry VIII, two of the Tudor monarch’s wives were executed upon the scaffold on Tower Green. Anne Boleyn was the Second wife of the King, and she was executed by sword, but Catherine Howard was the tragic fifth wife of the King who was allegedly a teenager when she was executed by axe. Catherine had been sentenced to death for treason and adultery behind her husbands back, but one woman who was implicated in the whole Catherine Howard scandal was a woman who allegedly arranged for the Queen to have time and liaisons with her lover, the King’s favourite courtier Thomas Culpeper. But Jane Boleyn was the sister in law of the King’s second wife Anne Boleyn, and she has gone down in History as being a woman who was rather sinister, and she may have even sent her own husband to the block on Tower Hill. But her coffin was opened centuries after her execution inside of the Tower of London’s chapel.

    I can't escape a feeling of looking at the face of a psychopath every time the portrait of Henry VIII pops up

    I actually thought we was going to see the ‘opening’ of the coffin. Maybe the title should be amended as it is a little misleading

    The Tudors were such an immoral and bloody lot. They had everything in life, but are likely bereft in eternity.

    You showed three different portraits of men and a banner stating "George Boleyn". When none of them have been definitely certified as him.

    George Boleyn looks similar to King Henry 8th. Can’t imagine living during that time period and having to fear if you would end up on the block or not.

      Second cousins are the grandchildren of siblings. If the siblings were half siblings, wouldn’t that make the grandchildren half second cousins?

    • @OpalLeigh

      It’s also crazy that he killed so many women 🙊 like usually at that time women were more likely to be spared the death penalty. But Henry didn’t respect anything or anyone.

      I can’t help but think, that King Henry’s personality changed to the detriment, after his near death brush at the titling yard, when he was knocked unconscious.
      Many people who have suffered severe head trauma (car accidents/cycle collisions) have showed signs of character changes.
      Could this have been the cause of his paranoia of dying without Heirs ?

      I've read a few sources state around 70,000. No one can really know for sure as much has been lost on time but it's an educated estimate

    • @daneaxe6465
      @daneaxe6465 5 месяцев назад

      @@karenlenk1724 I really question where and how that oft mentioned 70k. Its highly doubtful Henry had the spare time to write up 70k death warrants. Frankly if the number does have a source I'd list the power structure of the Roman Catholic system as the #1 suspect. They had the most to gain by slandering Henry.
