Revelation Gamzee could never be calmed down by Karkat or anyone because Tavros was dead I think Gamzee might have wanted the mass honk to happen so he could join Tavros in that eternal carnival, he tried to bring him back by kissing him but Tavros’s dream self was already dead, and I think Gamzee liked Tavros so much cause he actually liked Gamzee like didn’t make fun of his religion or scream he actually respected Gamzee for who he was even all his quirks and and didn’t care about diluteing his blood or constant chill... Okay, I just joined this fandom like a month ago, i really only have a faint clue as to what happened with sober Gamzee and everything, and yet this song still managed to bring me to tears as I tried to fall asleep. Gamzee losing his composure as the song went on fucking broke me, and I really don't know how to feel.

I feel that if Gamzee didn't snap, and Tavros wasn't killed, they could have made a nice couple. They vibed really well together, and all in all, I wish it could have been cannon.

Actually, in canon, during the introduction of the dream bubbles where Aradia was explaining them, she actually shows a timeline where they never enter the game. In it, Tavros rejects Gamzee, and Gamzee flips out and goes incel mode and kills everyone.

Probably overanalyzing but I really like the lines "repent your sickness/leave it here for lent" bc when you give smth up for lent its supposed to be giving up smth you enjoy or smth indulgent so the idea of giving up "sickness" for lent has interesting implications. Sort of sounds like its talking about addiction which makes sense considering the character this song is about

bro a friend who's into homestuck sent this to me and this might be one of my favorite love songs ever. that sad indie folk guitar and the reverb on the chorus backing vocals and those LYRICS man fuck it captures that unrequited feeling so well. i never heard of these characters in my life but shoutout to them for inspiring this song cause it's really fucking good

Even though I don't 'ship' Gamzee and Tavros, I still think this is a beautiful representation of their relationship from Gamzee's perspective. The desperation at the end always tears apart my heart. This is one of my favourite love songs even though it's fan made. It evokes far more heartache than most original love songs released.

Amp1 Buddy I can see what your getting at there, but you’re also missing all of their chatlogs, in which Gamzee *heavily* implies that he is entirely head over heels for Tavros, not to mention Gamzee did offer when he was alive if they could possibly ‘Make out a little’ of course, Tavros didn’t exactly like Gamzee the way Gamzee liked him. So although Gamzee probably did strongly miss his best friend, he also had extremely red feelings for him. So I do agree with you, but you need to understand that Gamzee thought of Tavros as his almost Matesprite and it was absolutely devastating for him when he found out he died. Not to mention it is highly canoned that he carries Tavros’ head around with him, and talks to it regularly due to high blood instincts fucking with his already fucked brain. So yeah ‘humor me a second’.

i am rereading homestuck and i am right in the middle of the trolls murdering each other in the meteor, and just like last time i have no idea why gamzee snapped. he was offering naps in the horn pile, then he vanished, and the next time we hear him, he's sober and threatening karkat through terezi's glasses, and the next time we see him, he is killing equius and nepeta. the timing of gamzee going sober and vriska killing tavros are very close together. while controlling nepeta in the flash game, she sees gamzee''s writing in tavros's blood, just before gamzee kills equius. but what made gamzee go sober i have no fukkin clue. also, the way gamzee talks while high is annoying to read but the way he talks while sober is TERRIFYING. "I SAID... kneel." starting with power and authority to get your attention, followed by the command, spoken softly, cuz you know gamzee is carrying the biggest of motherfuckin sticks
