“Knock it about a bit.” Best help ever for ME! This was SO helpful! Thank you for taking the time to do this! Any kind of future videos would be most appreciated! Don’t assume we, or at least me, know it all! I have no one around me that stitches so I am very thankful. 💕
I thought I was the only one who knocked it about! Actually I call it combing. I use my needle to comb or straighten my stitches sometimes. Thank you for this tutorial!
Lovely to hear you talk about rain! Please send us some in Pa! We have been so dry for months! Poor people in North Carolina but we are like a dessert here!!! I'll trade sunshine for rain!
I use the Victorian Stitch as well. It seems very natural to me too. I think it may be since we sew as well as stitch!! It’s always a pleasure to see a video from you!!!❤️
This tutorial came just in time as I just started stitching a sampler that has a significant amount of over 1. I found some of your tips very useful but I can not wrap my head around keeping my needle on top of the fabric. I appreciate you taking the time to show us how you stitch. I'm always learning and enjoy seeing how others do things. ❤
thank you for the insight for one over one stitiching...gave me the push to try it. It doesn't seem so intimidating now that I have seen you do it. I stitch in hand and I like to stitch right to left too.
Embarking on the Victorian stitch journey is like discovering a secret garden of needlework - every stitch is a petal, every knot a leaf, and your linen the canvas for a blooming masterpiece. Happy stitching, and may your thread never knot (unless it's supposed to)! I so enjoyed this video, looking forward to more!!❤
As a ‘lone’ stitcher I was fascinated to see how someone else stitches in hand. I must try using my ring finger for pushing up rather than my index finger. It doesn’t work on my current project when I have a huge fabric bunch as my little hand can’t hold it but feels great when I am near the edge. Very helpful to be able to visually link a stitch process to a name….. sticks in the brain better! Lots of interesting titbits to help me improve my stitching. Thank you for this .
I have been using the Victorian cross stitch for years on Elizabeth Bradley woolwork projects. Thank you so much for your very clear demonstration. Beautiful design and gorgeous stitching.
Thank you for this I’ve been intrigued to see one over one I feel it would take a lot of trial and error for me as I’ve always gone left to right in my stitching the danish way 😬 and I dont think I’ve stitched on a such a high fabric count but definitely want to give it a go xx
I stitch the same as you for the most part and I stitch completely in hand and never with a hoop. I can manipulate the fabric and threads much easier. Your stitching is beautiful and your back looks fabulous really as well! Mine, not so much. Love this video. ❤️
Thank you so much for the extra video! It was very helpful. The next time I work one over one, I’ll play this video again so I can stitch with you. I’m loving your videos and their content.
Hello from Oklahoma. I have been stitching for many years, but I have only tried linen once. I failed miserably. I think soon I will try again. For some projects it really looks so much better than Aida. Thank you for taking time to make videos. I really enjoy them. 🌻
Great help! I do use a hoop but loosely. So fabric is loose enough to push up and stitch as you are showing. Find my stitches lie straight that way...'knocking them about' as I go! Thank you for the extra help!
I was so thrilled to see the back of your stitching as I stitch the exact same way only I use a hoop. I’ve never really tried in hand but you make it look so comfortable I might have more of a go. Thanks for sharing this with us all. 😊
Thank you so much! I have a project that is being held up because I am hesitating on the one over one verse. You have encouraged me to try this method and get it finished! I just love all your flosstubes!! Thanks for taking the time to share!
Love this!!! This is how I learned to stitch and I really enjoy it! Can't wait to see your finish on this, it is just lovely 😍 and yes .... What beautiful verses in that Psalm to reflect on!
What a treat! Thanks for this lesson. I struggle with one over one, avoiding if at all possible! It’s cool watching those little threads turn into words! Beautiful ❤
I gave my 1,000 Hills wip to my sister recently. It was my first attempt at stitching on linen. It is 24 count so easy enough to see. I was not enjoying it although it is beautiful. She also hasn’t stitched on linen but is wlling to try. I texted her with this video which I know will be helpful.
Good eyes for that fine! You were off screen quite a bit. If you’re recording on your phone you cast screen share to a laptop and see what we’re seeing too.

What a treat! Thanks for this lesson. I struggle with one over one, avoiding if at all possible! It’s cool watching those little threads turn into words! Beautiful ❤
Thank you Pam!
I'm glad to see this way of stitching one over one. I try to avoid it, but this helps define it.
Thank you enjoy your day
Thank you Suzanne!
Fun to watch YOU do this but I’m afraid my eyes won’t let me tackle one over one anymore. This is going to be gorgeous m’dear! 👏🏻👏🏻❤
Thanks so much!
Oh I just love this! Raised a farm girl and my husband is a farmer. So want to stitch this.
Thank you Renee - how lovely!
Thank you for showing this! I was wondering how you would stitch 1 over 1 in hand. This was a great help!😊
You’re welcome 😊
I embroider in a hoop but not with cross stitch. I also stitch the Victorian stitch and, I agree, probably because I quilt and sew. Beautiful sampler.
Thanks so much Sara!
I always get confused when I turn my linen but will bear it in mind for one over one as I've not done that yet. Thanks.
Hello Lynn! Tx so much :)
Thanks! I would love to see how you start and stop threads when using one thread.
Hi DIane - Nicola Parkman has a great tutorial on the pin stitch but I usually hide behind other threads!
Thank you VERY much. It is tremendously helpful- thank you for taking the time to make the video!
Thanks Julie!
Thanks! I had never heard of stitching it right to left. I will try it!
Thank you Lizzy! Cannot wait for your next update!
Wow…one over one doesn’t seem so intimidating to me now. Thanks for the demo 😊
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the knowledge. Its a beautiful stitch.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing - I will try the no hoop method next time I've got some 1x1 to stitch!
Thank you Leslie!
Thank you for the tips and hints. VERY helpful!!❤
Thank you Joyce!
I’m so glad to see this because I’m just a beginner. Thank you!!!😎
Me again I forgot to ask you…how do you do your embroidery? Do you stretch it?
Hi Cheryl - I use a small Nurge hoop for my embroidery yes but never for cross stitch :) Thank you!
What a wonderful tutorial, thank you!
Thank you Beth!
Very interesting.
Thank you.
Marilyn
Thank you Marilyn!
Thank you Sian. I feel a little braver to tackle one over one and in had stitching. Do you do all your cross stitch I hand?
Yes I do! Tx so much Georgie!

Thanks Sian really useful xx
Thank you Karen!
Your projects are so beautiful and inspiring. I’m going to try this project with one over one, too. Did you use the called for threads? Thank you.
Thank you so much - yes I used all the lovely called for colours!
I’m not a fan of only one thread but enjoyed your visual of the process.
Thank you Tanya!
Wow. Were you wearing magnifying lenses or using a magnifying lamp? So quick and even! Thank you. Yes, some off screen stitches.
I had my readers on yes!! I am so sorry the up close was a fail and I need to try to fix it if I ever tried again ;/
@@periwinklestitcher so good anyway. Try again for sure.
Hi Sian! I stitch in hand and right to left as well! thought I was the only one!
Who is your online workout person?
I love Fitness with PJ 😃
I forgot to mention I also have this pattern as a ‘to-do’. My father was a farmer and would like to do in his remembrance.
Hi Angela - it's Club Five with Talilah Henchoz! Tx so much for watching :)
That would be precious!
Good eyes for that fine! You were off screen quite a bit. If you’re recording on your phone you cast screen share to a laptop and see what we’re seeing too.
Thanks so much for the tip!! I will check it out :)
You say "Knock it about", I've said "I pet it with my needle" to put it in place😅
Love it - tx Diane!
