It may have been just for the mission -- and it still, at the very least, probably meant the world to Yor -- but it's heavily implied that Loid is drawing from his own life as a spy. And, of course, we can't get enough "respect sex workers" speeches. It's a wonderful moment.
I just have to say, thank you for hiding Kaguya-Sama Love is War in this, this video basically made me say "FINE I'LL CHECK IT OUT!" Two months of laughing at what should be anxiety inducing later, I have had so much fun, thank you.
This manga/show’s commitment to theme and way of integrating the fun, tension-filled premise of ‘we all keep a secret part of ourselves from others’ to ramp up angst and comedy at equal rates is so good?? It grabs me so well, no other show has done that on the same level
I just finished the current season and movie and i must say its one if the best anime iv ever seen and that movie, for me its 2024 best movie of the year! I love this show
I'm surprised how well thought-out this thesis was about Spy x Family. Thank you for spreading the love about this amazingly wholesome and hilarious manga and anime series. I also learned that there are many, many, ways on how to pronounce the silent "x" in the title. "Mission: Yozakura Family" also has an anime adaptation and it's also quite funny and action-packed.
Ok I watched the video and knew exactly from the thumbnail that it would be as expected. Forgive me in advance. This show's main appeal is the character design rather than their motives and what their whole point of being there actually is. The premise is not together, they add things that are unrealistic in one place and the fact that the Japanese nationalism restricts the setting from being able to breathe. This would work if the setting worked alongside the characters the way they are however an assassin should at least be adult enough to learn more about how social conventions work, the spy should consider more leniency, and the little girl is just a trope that attracts baisc anime viewers. Giving the little girl mind powers while making her act like she is important is what's wrong with this anime because there is too much focus on her rather than the family altogether. There is a realistic sadness to the fact that a family is to show each members strengths all in one place, but this anime fails at it because each member HAS to be that special to their own trope on their own time that there really is never a moment where their tropes connect with one another. Like the scene where the spy puts the ring on the assassin would be the best way to convey putting aside their tropes to make their situation work such that they can establish a fake family for their benefit. This anime's main theme is family yet it does what post time-skip One Piece does and over-focuses on each member to the point where we never see more than 2 members doing something other than showing their trope like fighting side by side as a pirate crew, or having a moment where they have to do something outside of their trope zone. The premise doesn't work at all, the only reason a lot of people like this is because of character designs alone. The motives don't matter, in fact theres an anime(Kotoura-san) where the protagonist has the exact same mind reading powers and has more relations with her powers than the little girl in spyxfamily. There is no depth in how they relay their jobs, with the exception of the spy because apparently he is the only one that is actually realistically thinking as a spy. The others are inconsistent, like the assassin would be much more mature in order to infiltrate and she would have methods of understanding her prey which she stops thinking like an assassin and it ruins her character arc because if she isn't an assassin then what is she? Just some random killer getting paid to finish off targets for money? Do forgive me but this anime has not a premise that works yet the character design is the reason for its popularity alone.
In my opinion the mentality of the assassin makes sense because her and her brother's parents died when they were really young, so throughout the series we see her struggle with how to fit in and be normal in general (also it should be noted that she became an assassin to support her brother). So the best she can do is kill and clean a bit. It also seems like her being dumb is part of the comedy, mainly when she gets drunk. But I feel like it'd be better if we saw more of her doing her job in the first season instead of only one time (but her showing her super strength throughout the season is still super cool). The little girl is strongly focused in the show since she is the tool to complete the mission. She needs to either become a scholar or befriend the son of the boss, so since she's pretty dumb, we see her focusing on befriending the boss' son despite the boy disliking her (at least at the start). Also since she has the power to read minds, she tries her best to help out the spy without the spy even knowing. Just overall I enjoy how all members of the family connect with and needs one another. The spy discovers he can be lenient because of the assassin and girl. The assassin discovers she can be a fine and normal person because of the spy and girl (mainly the spy). Then the girl discovers that she can be influential and helpful because of her powers (not just the world but also the spy and the assassin). I also enjoy how there can be endless what-ifs due to how mysterious and complicating each character is, with the main one being the outcome if one or all of them discover everyone's identity. But this is my own opinion :)

Haven't watched this video yet, but I strongly disagree already, I believe spy x family to be a very overhyped anime
