Just when I thought I'd seen all the muscle cars out there, this video proves me wrong! 🌟 These 30 Australian beasts are absolutely wild! 🚗💨 Which one was your favorite? Mine was the 1976 HOLDEN Monaro HX LE COUPE. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more hidden gems like these! 🏁🔥

Is this your personal ranking of the cars?
I'm wondering how the falcon xygt 351 phase III was only 25th.. it's easily top3.
I prefer the look compared to mad max black ford falcon 1973 xb gt 351.
The xa imho is just xy coupes.
Much like when Holden brought out the monaro again, but it was just a vt coupe.
The original monaro with it's own shaped looked so much better than the remake.
Im quite enjoying the video (m up to the 83 rpo, but had to ask that first question.
I see all the negative stuff you been copping...
I'll just say the cars are old, n the way your are presenting them, makes me feel like I'm watching an old TV show... so it kinda matches 😊

I appreciate seeing all these vehicles, but it's completely full of mistakes. For example you're showing some clips of Holden 304 V8's instead of the Falcon EB GT
There are some cars that could be included, no mention of one HSV Clubsport VN VP VR VS VT

At 37:00 the car is actually a special VL Wilkinshaw edition. And it had a V8. Not a Turbo 6cyl. There was a VL Turbo model though, that did have the 3 litre Nissan 6cyl Turbo Engine. Like a Nissan GTR, but a 3 litre.

    • @AmericanMuscles

Thanks for pointing that out! You're right, that car at 37:00 is indeed a special VL Walkinshaw edition with a V8, not a Turbo 6cyl. It's important to get these details right, so I appreciate your help in correcting that. The VL Turbo model with the 3-liter Nissan 6cyl Turbo Engine sounds like a powerhouse as well. interesting side note: they detuned the nissan 6 turbo (with holden rocker cover) so that the V8 would out perform it and hopefully keep sales going because lets face it.... the RB is a MONSTER !!!

    • @tonymarshall9670
      @tonymarshall9670 15 дней назад

The Wilinshaw was also de-stroked for the race track to keep things competitive with the fords. The homogenized street version was more powerful than the actual race cars that year. It was the most powerful car Australia ever made for at least another couple decades. It was also the last of the homogenized cars sold. Meaning that Holden and ford no longer had to produce for public sale a minimum of 500 cars that were going to be raced each year. Holden had real problems with warranty due to the Cam and solid lifters they were breaking at the rockers. Pretty sure it was the mounts on the head not holding up. So to use these motors and get away from the warranty issues. They put the motors in station wagons with standard manifold and exhaust and mostly they were sold to companies used for sales reps to do business in. There were a few stories getting around of the odd freak station wagon that out performed all the others. And over the years the story came out about them being put in station wagons some people have been lucky enough to find some. I know of one that was found in a family wagon by accident. So rather than scrap the car he actually had the engine rebuilt and kept the wagon. That was a long time ago now and I've no idea what become of the car now.

The VL Walkinshaw came from factory with a 5 litre V8 that was fuel injected and also had a twin throttle body inlet manifold.

To remedy the glaring problem, you & I would have to run slowly through the entire presentation from start to finish & edit images & narrative. It could be done and it should be done.
The problem begins right from the starting point hand drawn artwork.... Not representative of any Australian car.
Things get really out of shape soon after when you show images of what you assert are 1968 HK GTS 327 Monaros. They're not. They're 1969 HT 350 GTS Monaros & having someone who obviously doesn't know tell us it is so, is bothersome. Please find the time to fix this thing. It's sick & it runs like a dog with a busted leg.

Cars were our culture, at school my mates drove fast cars. My neighbor owned a 327 Monaro and rallied a Days in 1600Sss with a 2 litre engine.
My 2nd car a Holden Torana LJ (Not an XUI ) SL with a 173ci 6 and a 3 speed that did 16 second quarter.

There are so many mistakes, it's irritating to the point of excruciation.
You've gone to all this trouble to produce something that many would enjoy & made a shocking mess of it.
We love our unique to Australia homegrown high performance cars & we're more than happy for the whole world to see them & learn about them. When we see & hear so many glaring mistakes, it's borderline insulting.
The commentary needs to be redone without the mistakes & the images need proper sorting. Many of the cars shown are customised & or extensively modified & have no place in this presentation. Some of the customised cars you show bear ugly tasteless customisations best fogotten. Some models do not match your descriptions. You describe a Series Production virtually standard HDT HT 350 GTS like it's a one of... It isn't. A GTR & a GTR XU-1 are substantially different cars. An LJ Torana shown by you IS NOT AN LC TORANA AS DESCRIBED BY YOU.
The mistakes carry on with the Valiants as well. The whole thing needs a rebuild since it is so far out of whack.
I can promise you this: You need to fix this mess or you'll attract some really upsetting coments, destroy your own credibility & look like a fool.

We struggle with this problem every day. Interested folk consult the internet seeking information on unique to Australia interesting performance cars. The internet is littered with faulty information regarding this subject. Even many Australians make mistakes when describing cars & history because they simply do not know any better.
Arguments start when those misinformed haggle with those who actually know. To add insult to injury, a rotten pack of greedy globalist bastards decided in 1978 to destroy Australia's world class highly competitive automotive industry which led to the total loss of all the wonderful manufacturers who saw fit to create these great cars you showcase. IE: We're hurting because we'll never see any more great new Australian cars ever again. It's vitally important under the circumstances to do exactly as you have done in showcasing these amazing & potent cars. We just have to make a better effort to gets the facts in order. A pedigreed factory high performance car is worth showing. You have included some seriously ugly customised cars which, in all honesty, look decidedly overdone, gawdy & rather tasteless. Our manufacturers did a damn good job on most of our factory high performance cars & those are what you describe when you show many that are borderline privately mangled.
You have sufficient images of suitable cars interspersed with some crud. Some editing could quickly remedy this. The narrative also desperately needs edit. It's quite fixable. You really need an older Aussie enthusiast who was around when all these cars were produced & who paid attention. A few of us survive. Aust car enthusiasts love Aust factory high performance cars. We're protective of them & their history.

For a start, Australian manufacturers use a two letter code to distinguish between different models as they often are built for than one year. The Monaro GTS 327 was designated HK. The HDT Monaro was a race car raced by the Holden Dealer Team and not its own model and was actually a HT Monaro GTS 350 . There are so many other things inncorect with this video that I don't have the time to list them all. One main problem is not including the car that started the muscle car wars in Australia. The XR Falcon GT, wich was released in 1967.

10:58 they were never released in a 'UTE' ........ 11:06 that's actually a standard XWGT with 2v 351 windsor motor (with HO front lip) which came out before the XYGT.... you can tell the difference easily by the side bonnet scoop, different stripes.. the GTHO had front/ rear (boot) spoiler performance globe wheels instead of the 5 or 12 slotters, XYGT (HO) came with a 4V 351 Cleveland.

As his dad was the local Chrysler/Valiant dealer, with in house mechanic shop and body repair. He closed up after Mitsubishi bought Chrysler out in the 80s., but his son continued to work on and rebuild old Val's and Mitsubishis, everything from Chrysler Le Barons, 2 door coupes, the charger was never classed as a coupe rego was classed as sedan, even Starions, 2 door Scorpions, 770s god I had fun back then. Needless to say we turned it into a replica of the E38 R/T which was 3 spd on the floor, the E49 WAS 4 speed and both where powered by the mighty 265 Hemi. I was minus the triple carbs and 265 so instead we dropped a 350 Holley on worked 245 which we both rebuilt with pacemaker headers. It used to snap gear box and engine mounts all the time. That was some flowery language to describe some cool but rough’n’ready old bangers! I had a few of them and they looked and sounded beautiful and were ok in a straight line but except for the Walkinshaw Commodore and A9X and the later 90s through 2010s cars, the early 90s, 80s, 70s and 60s cars had live axles and leaf spring rear ends.
But full points to you for effort. The AI voice did very well mostly except for little things like “…five eight” and “le coup” I know there’s the “LeBaron” in the USA but LE stood for Limited Edition and was pronounced like “Elle Ee” but they didnt put full stops like L.E. on the badges so that’s an understandable mistake.
The SL/E Commodore could come with 4.2 or 5.0 V8s but also with 3.3 sixes and truly terrible 1.9litre 4 cylinders so it was just a family sedan really. But lots of them were hotted up by kids in the late 80s and early 90s so you get away with that I suppose.
Good effort but I would say the language was a little bit too flattering🤓👍

I had a L34 and it was an under steering pig compared to the ford GT I had I never know how the hell it won any race, it is an example of how not to design a suspension combined with the worst brakes that came out of a factory on a performance car in other words a pig

Thank you for the correction! You're right, the Ford Falcon XR GT was indeed the first. We appreciate your keen eye for detail. Is there a particular aspect of the XR GT's history or performance that you find most fascinating?

@@AmericanMuscles You can`t tell me anything, I`m an Aussie. Did you know the last 50 XR GT cars had the Windsor 302 not the 289 & Gold was not the only colour, you could if you knew, order a different colour. Bet you didn`t know that.

Spot on about the GTO's origins as a Holden! It's fascinating how global partnerships influence car designs. What are your thoughts on the impact of such affiliations on car quality and brand identity?

Wow, thanks! That’s some high praise, especially for Austrian Mussel Kars-although I think they might be a bit shell-shocked by the spotlight! 😄 Seriously though, I appreciate your enthusiasm and support. Glad you enjoyed the video!
