@@alikacrawford6866in the colored version you can see black frieza at the point of impaling gas is in his black form.. also in super hero vegeta states that frieza and jiren aren’t that much stronger than them they just use their power a lot more efficiently similar to how vegeta was switching from red to blue in the manga..

Frieza became more of an Anti-Hero than a villain since he discovered they are more strong people out there and wants to test his full potential Saiyan style (the stronger the better)
His Golden transformation implied heavy on his side of envy towards the first Warrior to have ever defeated him. The rare Golden Saiyan legend was born to rise against his tyranny. His Golden Frieza form was paying homage to that moment.
His transformation to Black Frieza started the moment he decided that instead of revenge against the Golden race, he would steer off into his own path of hatred, and he delved deep into the side of him he kind of always wanted to be before the Saiyan's revolt. In the end, however, the second he decided to wipe off the Saiyans, he essentially sealed his pact with them, and became the constant bearer of their spirits deep within him. His entire future has become that of fending off against the saiyan race.
