I remember after the Second War my father and his family all of whom served in either WW1, 2, OR Korean were discussing Isreal and Palistine.

The iron dome protects civilians from incoming rockets and mortar shells. It is only fired to intercept a projectile if it is going to land in a populated area. If a projectile is going to land in an open field, they let it fall because one shot costs about $50,000 USD. It’s money well spent. The Israelis developed this in less than 4 years. Developing an anti missile defense like this usually takes more than a decade.
