This build has been terrific. Now on to tackling the "Flintstones floor delete option" and other interior issues. That motor mount issue is puzzling. Perhaps some owner only had a six after the original engine blew and put it in and then removed it before dumping it. Hope all your viewers, including me, get the word out on the need for the 1946 IHC drivers' side door. It's out there-------someplace.

In your part of the world, you may have a problem with the flex fan and cooling. I live in Wisconsin, had the same fan on my chevy, it would over heat on a hot summer day. A ole stock car driver told me the 4 blade fan was the best. I had to change the water pump because of the same issues you are having, but in the end, it fixed the problem. Just saying.

I was working on a ‘61 Belair with the 235 six banger. The car had been in the desert for forty years. Somebody had put in 8 cylinder motor mounts, so the motor oil pan sat flat on the frame and steering linkage. Don’t lose those 6 banger motor mounts. I payed a pretty penny for a set. Thanks for the vids. I always look forward to them.

You've got some awesome ankle vents! Love the car, I can't wait to get mine back on the road and I'm excited I won't need a different transmission crossmember as I'm going from a power glide to a TH350 as well. I have really enjoyed all these El Camino videos! Keep it up! The first time I saw my grandpa's 1960 El Camino was in the alley behind his house on Cooper street in Tucson when I was five years old! I asked him if I could have it someday and sure enough he gave it to me when I was 14. We drove it a while but then the power glide kept popping out of drive into reverse so we started taking it all apart to restore the whole car but life go in the way and I was a stupid teenager! Now 20+ years later we have concrete plans to get it back on the road. Thanks for the inspiration!

It runs and drives, very cool! The problem with the HEI distributor isn't the backside to firewall clearance it's that there's not enough room to remove it with how it sits under the firewall overhang. Put one in my 57 Chevy when the engine went in no problem but didn't have enough room to pull it up and out and that can be a big deal if you're on the road.

Just like on GM square body PU's, you need to push "back" and then "down" to close them ... otherwise, you'll end up with a crease in the middle of your hood; also lube the hinges well. Can't wait for the next installment guys.
