OMG, hands down the best video explaining the thought process of diversifying looks and lighting for an actor's headshot. I've been looking up and down for something like this and I LOVE how you broke things down. Thank you!!
The best thing about your tutorials is that you present them in a down to earth manner with no frills. This prepares the photographer for the reality of doing the shot. The worst thing in this one specifically is that you don't talk about post production. It's another skill (and cost) for those starting out. But I appreciate you can't do everything in one video.
@@HannahCouzensPhotography your welcome. Na, my grandma gave the name. Its german and she sad it in my childhood when I broke something: Eigentlich solltest du Knall Hardt heißen.
Great result Hannah - nice to see all your set up options! Because you asked for feedback, I think the XL umbrella with diffuser was a bit too flat for straight on shooting - the Navy blue shirt worked best for Marek's coloring. The Beauty dish with reflector and rim lights were nice on the face - might have been better with a hair light too. My favorites were either of the last two set-ups you showed. The rectangular 2x3 soft box off at camera left with the kicker behind really worked for Marek providing Rembrandt-like lighting that works for his strong features. The final one light set-up was almost short lighting at shallow depth of field providing a very masculine look. Perfect! Thanks for taking us through your whole process Hannah!
Thanks Thomas! It's always interesting to shoot something different based on what the client wants. my favourite was also the one with the CTO backlight and the Rembrandt =]
Thanks for the informative video. Would it be possible to achieve the same results using the lower powered B10 as a key light and increase ISO? Thanks again.
Hi Simon! I used the B10 Plus only to fit the larger light modifier on it. The B10 will work fine without raising the ISO. If you choose to raise the ISO just be aware that you also raise the ambient light.
Really nicely put together video Hannah 😀 I know how much effort goes into making YT vids and I really feel the algorithm should be kinder to your fab content.
This is really great! Thank you! Loved all the variety, simplicity, and your teaching style. What @tiahaygood5461 said below is exactly how I am feeling. How many did you end up sending over to the agent and do you retouch before you send them? And if not, does the agent choose their favorites and then you retouch just those? I'd happily watch a video of you explaining this part of the process. Thank you!
Thanks very much, that's so kind. I host all the unedited images on shoot proof, and then it's over to the agent. Once the agent has chosen, then I'll make the edits. hope that helps and thanks again =]

Thank you Clark, that is very kind =]
These are great! I have a question, is it possible to achieve these headshots with a Canon R50 and 18-45mm lens?
Thanks so much! Yes this is doable with the kit you mentioned =]
Great Video Hannah and cool headshots too. Loved first and last set!

The one with the olive shirt + white t-shirt was the best i think
Yeah, I really like that one too. Thank you so much =]

05:00 The picture on the right is completely crooked. Did you do that on purpose? 😮
05:12 Same here.
1/125 shutter for 85 mm is a misleading and not very educative. 250 minimum. you just dont take that risk in a very controlled situation.
