Over ten years after making the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Tobe Hooper returns to his deranged family of reclusive cannibals for another round of chainsaw chases and non-stop screaming. Hooper brings a real budget this time (having recently directed Poltergeist for Steven Spielberg) and the talents of veteran make-up artist Tom Savini. This means he can make things bigger, louder, and gorier than ever before -- and they are. He also brings a wacky, self-deprecating sense of humor, as if deliberately flaunting Texas Chainsaw Massacre's status as one of the first and still greatest "splatter" movies. I love this scene. Drayton's completely obsessed with his food and family legacy and all he can see is competition whilst the sheriff is an honest Christian who's completely lost it due to the tragedies he went through. And now these two nutters are just spewing nonsense at each other. This entire movie is like that, just a bunch of loonies colliding with one another.

As much as we'd love to see that, unfortunately Gun can only use stuff from the first film due to rights issues with the franchise. Until that ever gets resolved, we won't get Lefty, Chop Top, or anything else from TCM 2 nor the other films for that matter.

Chop Top was confused when Drayton offered to bribe Sheriff Lefty. From Chop Top's perspective killing is the only way to handle problems or anyone who becomes a threat to the Sawyer Family. Drayton realizes however that in order for them to survive that they have to evolve and think of new methods. Not sure that Chop Top could ever get into the program or that way of thinking. He's too wild and uncontrollable, even for Drayton.

And with that line, the tone of the movie is reinforced, and Sheriff Enright’s character is informed, dignified, and revered.
It’s one of my favorite movie lines ever.

That awkward moment when it’s 1986, and you realize that Dennis Hopper’s Frank Booth in the movie Blue Velvet is a MUCH more terrifying villain than Leatherface in TCM2.

I absolutely love how Lefty could have easily brought guns and backup and easily taken them down. Instead he goes alone, on a kamikaze mission, armed with only chainsaws, as if to bring it down to their level.

This movie really messed with my head as a small kid. The craziness, dark comedy, one of the weirdest plots i've ever seen, and an all around uncomfortable setting. If i had to pick one movie that perfectly represents "scary madness" to me, this would be it.
Scared and full of hatred for the first movie.
