      Exactly, I mean think about it if Dame had turned out crap the Blazers would've traded him no question and yet when a great player is on a crap team he's supposed to show them loyalty? This is why all the arguments against player power fall apart, in a world where teams can trade you, cut you and send you down in order to compete and make the most money possible why shouldn't the players (you know the people who matter the most in sports) do the same. It just seems like another example of people taking the side of faceless corporations over their workers.

    I think dame is staying not because he doesn't want to leave, but because he has built a reputation for himself as the guy that "will never leave". He doesn't want to break that image of his. He probably just feels super awkward if he trashes on stars who ring chase, and then does the same thing.

    • @mediocremang
      @mediocremang Год назад +17

      Yeah, I agree. While I truly think he is a loyal dude, Dame passed on multiple great windows of opportunity to get out during his prime and get at it with a better team, and he wouldn't have much time to get it done at 32 years old. His legacy is all about loyalty, longtime carrying a team (and city), and incredibly clutch performances, and an ultimate "what if" discussion if he'd retire, as in what if Dame had gone to a better team?
      He would risk his entire reputation and everything he worked for during his career, if he went back on what he preached for years. Not to mention he could end up like a Russ, or PG13 type of player.

    As much as I love dame, tbh I feel like the main reason he doesn't wanna leave is cuz hes afraid to fail. In Portland he has no expectations, nobody gonna bash him for missing or getting eliminated from the playoffs. He understands how hard it is to win it and that leaving doesn't automatically guarantee a ring. But his whole situation just doesn't feel the same as dirks. Atleast my mavs were always competitive, it made sense for dirk to stay. If Dame still doesn't wanna leave despite nearing the end of his prime while at same time seeing n realizing his team going nowhere and STILL not wanna leave? Yes the city loves him n he also wants the city love but if he doesn't bring any chips, then that love ain't gonna b as strong regardless, so y stay? They not gonna build a statue for him like they did for dirk just cuz he played 15+ seasons with no rings for a team...

    I'm guessing the Trailblazers will rebuild and will want young assets from the Heat for Lillard. I could see a trade package of Damian Lillard and Jusef Nurkic for Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jovic, and Kyle Lowry (some Draft Picks will be dealt as well).

    Blazers fans should get a petition going to trade Dame for his sake. As a Sixers fan, we'd gladly take him(unless we win it all this year).

    i honestly believe og is most realistic and also raises blazers ceiling but id also love to see jimmy team up in portland with dame that would be fcking cool there games would correlate so well together.. but listen iv lived in oregon my whole life gone to portland games like 3-4 times a season.. and the love they show to that guy is unmatchable HE IS PORTLAND.. and the gm like you said has this offszn to make magic happen collected bunch off assets as well as lottery pick.. and they have 5 firsts but to unlock em they’d have to make a deal with chicago which would be huge if they can make that work

    At this point no one would disrespect Dame for leaving. He gave Portland everything and stayed there for better and for worse. It's the Blazers management that failed and everybody knows it

  • @antinapay

    He reached the WCF. He is getting paid 60m a year for 2 years. He already achieved success. For every championship team, the media ALWAYS pushed the narrative that the superstars of the other 29 teams needed help, but rarely gives sound solutions which is beneficial for all teams involved. This western conference has the best parity for decades, no guaranteed favorites, no more dynasties, no more superstar reliant teams. A Doncic and Lillard led team might not make it to the PlayIn, while the Kings are the 3rd seed. I would rather see good teams win, than fan favorite superstars win just because of loyalty or marketing.
