- Courtney talks about Part 103 ultralight flying in the United States and discusses the need for a pilot license or pilot certificate.

Note: A LEGAL ultralight is limited to 1 seat and requires no pilot certificate to fly. A 2-seat "ultralight" is, in fact, a Light Sport Airplane and requires a pilot certificate to fly. There is no such thing as a "legal 2-seat ultralight."

Hi Courtney, thanks to remind us the US FAR23 rules,, would be nice to have that in EU. In Germany there is something similar 125kg empty with a BRS, Mtow 250kg, but still a licence (simple, some hours in a twin like yours with instructor, and then single , 15h with 30 landings) In France, nothing equivalent. 6 types of licenses, 1. PPG, 2.WEIGHT SHIFT CONTROLLED, 3. 3AX UL, 4. GYROCOPTERS, 5. AIRSHIPS, 6.HELICOPTERS. The theory is same for all, but practical exams for each. 👍😊🇫🇷
Thank you for the info. (It's Part 103.) :)
Thank you so much for your instructions & information about with & without licence to fly 💸.🎉🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Courtney, I see you got up early to upload a very important and informative video refresher. Hope you have good flying weather soon!!!!
Thank you!
I would love to.learn to fly an ultralight, but there are no teachers near me. Full on private pilot only, not even light sport pilot. It is disappointing.
Expect to travel to get that training.
Courtney, what is the maximum load factors on a Quicksilver MX 103?
A 103? What's that?
An MX that is near Part 103 specs could handle a 250 lb pilot. Above that, the airplane (any ultralight, really) will fly poorly, increasing with each additional pound.
Well, I was referring to the maximum g forces that your Quicksilver can withstand @@CourtneyTakesFlight
So what we understand as utralight are really light sports something...What are the rules for these?
