  • This tutorial shows how I set up my Tobii 5 eye tracker and why I use the setting I do. It's pretty straight forward. One thing I forgot to mention is how to move your existing settings to a new profile. If you watch my video on moving creating a profile and moving it in and out of BETA, you will see it mentioned in there.

    Thank you for your wisdom, I play both euro trucker and American trucker. Just got a tobii and was having a problem setting up. You helped me no end.

      Happy to help Paul. I know I was all at sea when I frost got the Tobii. I swore if I ever figured it out I'd make the video. I'm glad I did. One thing I changed since making the video is I increased the in cabin pitch sensitivity from .75 to 1. 4 and actually have increased it once again to perhaps 1.7. The further increase was because when I start the truck, the amount of available pitch is reduced. Increasing the pitch fixed that. Cheers!

    Hello there ! I was happy to receive the tobii, I was really looking forward to it but after 3-4 hours of trying to get a decent result I was starting to regret my purchase, until I came across your video. Now everything works fine, I'll just have to make a few micro adjustments to make it 100% to my liking, but I'm very satisfied, thank you very much!

      You're very welcome. After I bought mine I was wondering if I'd made a big and expensive mistake. I ended up just hoping through it one setting at a time only changing the one and seeing what happened. I'm glad I did because I've really grown to like it.
      Cheers!

      Awesome! I changed my In Cabin Pitch Sensitivity from .75 to 1.4. Other than that, everything else should still be good.

    This has been very helpful Dan! Been struggling for a while....about a year that is. You also explained what each setting does and that makes things more easier for a Dutchie like me!😉 Thanks again Dan and happy New Year to team McNarry and to all of his followers! Happy trucking!

    I tried these settings but made a few tweaks like quicker activation and more horizontal movement and they work pretty good.

      That's great. Since I made the video I changed my "In Cabin Pitch Sensitivity" from .7 to 1.4. Seems better. Sounds like you are on a good path with it.

    I have a a Tobii eye tracker and I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted. Thank you for this video and I'm going to try it again. Question do you it on your head phones? Be safe driver

    • @danmcnarry
      @danmcnarry  Год назад +2

      Don, the Tobii doesn't have anything attached to your head, hat or headset. It just locates your eyes with two little infrared cameras mounted under the monitor and tracks where the go or move.
      A word of caution on the Tobii 5, it attached to the monitor with some self adhesive strips. They recommend letting it set or cure for an hour before attaching the eye tracker to the mount. Make sure and do that. I didn't initially and had to re attach it. No biggie but they were right, give it some time.
      Good luck with it, it's a great device.

    I have Track IR5 and i noticed that you can look around in cab top outside view (in another video) which i can not do,
    all i have in interior cab look around, is this a feature that only Tobii has
    cause it sure is a cool feature to be able to look around outside at the scenery as you travel.

    • @danmcnarry
      @danmcnarry  11 месяцев назад

      Hey Mike. The looking around from attop the cab is a mod called "Pivot Cam" I think. There's a link in the description of every video I use it in. You need to assign a key to "Lean out camera" in the settings two panes below the Camera section of the Keyboard Button assignments. Let me know if you get it working. Cheers!

      Thanks CCB! I made one change to the settings since I made the tutorial. I changed the In Cabin Pitch Sensitivity from something like .75 to 1.40. This makes it possible to look down at the pedals or floor. Not really necessary but the extra range is nice.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial, i wanna ask you if you use a limitator of FPS and if yes how to use?? Thanks a lot...

    • @danmcnarry

      You're welcome Luciano. I let my system run up to it's maximum of 162 FPS. It very seldom gets there but I don't limit the speed.

    Does the tobii go on the top of your monitor? My steering wheel and monitor are in mine with one another of course so I can imagine this wouldn’t allow the tobii to work properly. I am debating on purchasing one so just doing some research. Thanks for the video

    • @danmcnarry
      @danmcnarry  Год назад

      Jordan, if you check one of my ride along videos you can see my tobii in the over the shoulder camera. It's at the bottom of the monitor. I had to raise the monitor up quite a bit. I may have it higher than necessary but I like it where it is.
      Thanks for watching!

    So my biggest question is when you are at an intersection and your trying to look both ways. Are you still able to look at the screen and see it? I do play on 1 monitor that is 24inches.

    • @danmcnarry
      @danmcnarry  Год назад

      Yes you can. You can actually do the lean out view where you look out the drivers window to the rear and still have one eye on the monitor. You never lose sight of the monitor if you set it up right. You would probably want to adjust the yaw setting to fine tune to screen size.

    My head view responsiveness settings show maximum of 1%. But in your videos it shows 40%. Is my tobii defective?

    • @danmcnarry
      @danmcnarry  3 месяца назад

      That's not good. I suppose you re-calibrated Tobii again? Let me know. Are your other parameters showing the right range?

      @@danmcnarry hi Dan! Thanks for the info. I've been going back and forth on eye tracking but I only have a 27" flat monitor. Not sure how good/bad eye tracking with this size would be. Any thoughts?

    • @danmcnarry
      @danmcnarry  Год назад +2

      @@Not_Lewis if the cost of a Tobii 5 isn't a deterent, I highly recommend it. Even with a 27" monitor. The ability to glance left and right while keeping your hands on the wheel and shifter is so much better than using the mouse to look around. Way more immersive. They are pricey but very good.

    I was very excited when I first saw the Tobii Eye Tracker. The promise of hands-free control of my PC with my eyes sounded like science fiction, but the reality was disappointing.
    In addition to the unreliable tracking, I also found the Tobii Eye Tracker to be very uncomfortable to use. My eyes strain after prolonged use.
    Overall, I am very disappointed with the Tobii Eye Tracker. The tracker is unreliable, uncomfortable, and the software is not user-friendly.
    I would definitely not recommend the product to others....
