How to transfer iLok licenses from your OLD studio computer to your NEW one

- It's very important to take a few moments before you upgrade your studio computer to deactivate your iLok licenses off of your old computer! You don't want to get your shiny new computer and not be able to use your favorite plugins.

Just subscribed. I need to reset my Mac to factory settings. I have an ilok with protools. After resetting the Mac can I plug in the ilok and use protools again.?
Thanks so much for the sub! If you re-install iLok license manager, then yes you should be able to just plug your iLok back in, log in on iLok license manager and be good to go 👍🏻
Hi, A question: I have bought an SSL interface that includes a free package of plugins, which I have to install and license. The thing is that the plugin package contains plugins that I already have. What should I do with them? Thank you.
So glad I came across this may I ask once I deactivated the piugin do I just plug my 2nd generation into my new macstudio..or do I have to call the company for a new license so I can download the dmg..file
I'm so glad the video was helpful! Once you deactivate it, it should go back into your "available licenses" section and from there you can activate the license to your iLok key or your new computer. You should be able to grab any dmg files you need form the plug-in manufacturers web site(you may need to log in to access them). I hope it goes smoothly for you!

I defineitely dont have access to the computer that it was activated on. How can i reset the activations without the computer i had before?

My buddy has an Ilok with different plugins than my own... Is there a way to share ilok info so we can use each others plugins?
I don’t think so since you can only be logged in to 1 account at a time.
I hate ilok. Cant you just plug in your ilok key to another computer and use it or is it specific to that computer? I just got a new computer and thought that i could just plug it in and access my plugins but its not working so i guess that doesnt work? The plugins i have do not allow to add them to the computer, just cloud or ilok key. What happened to the good o'l days when you could just download the software and be done. I have a few plugins like that and its simple. This damn ilok always frustrating and giving me problems.
If you have iLok License Manager installed on your other computer and you log in there, then yes, you should be able to plug your iLok in there and have everything work. I agree, it is annoying though and wish we didn't have to deal with it!

Hey, maybe you can help me out. I have an old iLok that seemed to have corrupted yesterday. Never had an issue with it before. I tried to launch a plugin that uses this iLok, but it was telling me the plugin was not activated. I went to the iLok manager and it showed that the iLok was greyed-out. I also noticed another iLok that was plugged in with 0 licenses on it which is very weird as I don't have another physical ilok. It seems that it corrupted and the serial number changed. Whenever I plug in the iLok, it shows as a different ilok with a different serial number and 0 licenses. The computer is thinking it is a different or new ilok. I'm unable to transfer any of the licenses from the greyed-out location to anywhere else.
Sorry, I haven't run into that particular issue so I'm not sure what to do. I'd open a ticket with iLok support: help.ilok.com/contact_support.html

I mad 3 macs, max studio M1, trash can, and apple tower. I would like to use my plug ins on at least two. is it possible to share the plug ins and licenses? i want one to be for just music production and the other two if I can for mastering.
I think that all depends on the plug-in developer. Some give 3 licenses, most only 2 or 1 though unfortunately. In that case you have to carry your iLok key around and plug in to whatever machine you're using or have as many any the cloud section of iLok as are compatibly. It's pretty annoying!
Can you do one on Analog lab 4?
Do you also have to deactivate the Icloud ones?
I don’t think so. As long as you have your ilok log in info, those should work on any computer you log in on with the iLok license manager app. It would just close out any cloud session you have on another computer.

Did you happen to have zero downtime/TLC plan on your iLok 2? If not, I would reach out to iLok support to see the best way to get those licenses from your broken iLok transferred to your new iLok. Just a heads up, you may end up having to reach out to the plug-in companies directly.

iLok 3 should work with an iLok 3. I'm pretty sure I was using iLok 3 when I was on Pro Tools 11.
If your key is physically broken and you can't connect it to your computer to transfer licenses, you'll either need the Zero Downtime/TLC iLok plan or you'll have to contact the manufacturers directly to get replacement licenses deposited into your account. I'd contact iLok support to find out the easiest path!
Do you have to use ILOK to use OZONE 11 elements?
You should be able to just activate the license to your computer instead of iLok with the iZotope Product Portal app.
