My friend & I went to Orania. I was so very impressed. I do understand that they strive to keep the Afrikaner culture. Volkspele, Voortrekkers, the Afrikaans language. The schools - wow. Everyone works, they are friendly, have a hospital, CLEAN!!! Sweeping streets is a job, garbage collection is a job. All are proud of what they do. It is ❤

I will never life in Orania, even if I wanted I am sure they will not want me. But I did the second best thing. I went there as a tourist and spend a few Rands there. Great river club with a stunning restaurant almost in the water. Great food and great service. Maybe more Afrikaners must make this small sacrifice. I also went to Lake Sibayi in Natal a few years ago. This area is exclusively black. White or brown people can not own land here. There was no farms or industry. These people are ruled by a king, which gets his massive income from our government. Meaning the tax-payers of South Africa pay for his upkeep, along with about eleven other "kings". No white person complains about this arrangement. The people of Orania pays normal taxes to the South African government.

I don't get it that there isn't the racism problem to talk about. Just as there is corruption, mainly on the part of the ruling elites which we must not sweep under the proverbial carpet, racism also, still plaques us as a country. Take for instance the economy, one race and gender mainly, are the ones calling the shots, 30 years since the demise of apartheid rule..

I am black and have long stopped voting for the ANC. What do you mean I can't change as a black person? Isn't this racism to to lump people together by race and assume they can't change?

    • @dochere-bolelwang
      @dochere-bolelwang 11 месяцев назад

The first change that is sorely needed is to get rid of neo-colonist vestiges which are still in place by way of utilizing black puppet rulers throughout the continent. This is happening already in West Africa where colonial and thieving France is getting booted out. One can only hope that this is just the beginning of greater changes across the continent.... Like here in South Africa, apartheid corruption was replaced by black elite corruption which is one and the same thing because they both trample upon human rights and development which are badly needed to bring about the desired changes in the country that you are talking about.. If you really want to see change in Africa, work towards removing Western racism towards the continent together with the stealing of resources by corrupt Westerners.

Thanks for this video Thomas, I live in the Bronx, NYC, went to school at the Univ of Natal, Pietermaritzburg 4 years before independence (I am black African).
It is important to understand that the success set of Orania can easily be created everywhere, including the townships of SA.
But the key is that before we can pull our people out of the ghetto, we need to pull the the ghetto out of our minds.
Case in point, a fellow black man at a local store threw a piece of garbage outside on the floor.
I asked him why he would do that when there was a garbage bin right next to us.
He proceeded to shout at me, using very harsh words, instead of just placing the trash in the bin, which would have been less stressful for both of us.
Every morning on that street there is massive amounts of garbage. The politicians in SA are still prisoners of apartheid in their minds, and thus do not understand that being free means taking off the mental chains, not just the physical ones.

Here we don't litter" he just ignored me and walked off. That untidiness really rubbed off on our people because they are doing the same today.
Yesterday I walked through the Railway station to get to the mall and it was filthy even the grass has grown so high . It's no longer a pleasure to go anywhere with filth laying all around. I do not blame the Municipality alone but people have no regard for cleanliness.

Throughout post colonial Africa there is little respect given to the white settlers and what they brought to Africa. They brought technical skills, education, farming development, and maintenance. This created opportunities for work and economic well-being. They built something from nothing. Instead they have been pilloried as colonizers, stealers of land, and white economy capitalists. In the meantime all we have seen from the inheritors of post apartheid South Africa has been a continual decline in everything that was handed over to them. South Africa has lost the benefit of having immeasurable human capital because of the stupidity in not using a useful resource. Instead of demonstrating, looting, stealing and burning its time some of these people got out into the countryside and planted potatoes.

Now white people are blamed for all the problems and threatened with genocide 😒 the amount of times I've been mistreated with racism is too many to count, the amount of times I've been racist is 0. But one group of people always wants to drag in race - honestly who gives a crap if you are white, black, pink... just be a respectful human. Cut all racism and politics out of the equation.

The Afrikaans people came here to break away from European rule, so becoming self sufficienct and self governance was required - building our own communities are in our roots.
It takes a lot of hard work and pride.
We also recognized the value of education. Become highly educated so that you can serve your community, build businesses and provide a service to your fellow man.
The Zulu's have their kingdom with their own cultural values and believes, why can't Afrikaans people have their own way of doing things? (it's clearly working and they are not doing harm to others)

I so agree with you about the racism. My personal view about Orania is that they should be allowed to do what they want to and live how they want to. Is it racist or is it what a democracy is? Are we a free country or not? What would the reaction be in Soweto or Thembisa or Alex to white people moving in? Would black people be comfortable with that? I don't think they would be. Let's be honest. I live in a mixed race community and we're all fine together. There's respect, friendliness and good manners. However, we don't socialise across the colour line. 😮
People migrate towards their own kind where they feel comfortable because they understand each other. Let them be. Let things be. Heavens, when did we become so judgemental? Live your life and let others live theirs.

From what I have watched, when the founder’s of Orania wanted to do what they did, the authorities gave them permission to do so, provided they understood they were not allowed to use any municipal services. They built the town on their own, without any assistance from Government. It’s theirs. So let’s say they are forced to take in anyone, be they English speaking, (whites, coloureds, Indians) or Zulu, Xhosa, etc are those people going to abide by their laws and traditions? Those who complain about Orania should also build their own town without Govt assistance, a town that is clean, litter free, productive and has very little crime. Good for them.

Culture to the Afrikaner is what is keeping them going.
The same for other race, there vultures keeps them going.
Why all the hostilities towards a group who just want to live and bother no one else, I don't understand myself. And as far as I am concerned they do have the right according to the constitution of this country to associate with whom ever they want, or dont want. Why does other races continuously want to be where every other Afrikaner is? It is not inclusive or uplifting or building a nation as part of inclusiveness, if other races continously FORCE themselves upon or into another race, space, culture, shops, way of living. At best all those forcing it, is going against their own constitution.
The old Apartheid era also did not force themselves into or unto other races or the cultures of other races.
So others would like to continously break the law of a constitutional right, but low and behold if a white person is keeping exactly to that specific law, the right to associate with whomever or whatever they wish to associate with. Seriously?
I think people should start reading their own constitutions in the right way, instead of spu-ing alot of nonsense, giving false witnessing, lying and continously putting the white race down foe following this country's LEGAL RIGHTS.
Some are way out of line, where that right are, concerned and actually if Orania was that childish, like some are, they could have taken every single person to court already and would have made much more money, for going against yet another constitution right of everyone living in South Africa.
I salute Orania, allthough I am no fan of Afrikaners, but a fan of South Africans, not African. I do not do whatever Africans are doing being part and parcel of 70+ murders per day, and counting. Hard core facts don't lie!

Orania is exclusively built for Afrikaners - get that clear! We don’t despise other groups,we simply prefer our own, like any other family, tribe and nation on earth does.
We treasure our Christian faith and calling, history( struggle),culture, language, morals, standards and neighbourhood.
We don’t tolerate corruption, crime, laziness, drugs, pollution or loitering. We spend no money on security systems, don’t know what fences, beams, security systems and reaction units are.
We live, work, worship, relax and sleep without fear.
Here we recycle, cleanup after ourselves, tend our gardens, wash our cars, tar our roads and fix our potholes ourselves. We teach our children that no task is too menial as to leave it to servants.
That, my friends, is what we call FREEDOM, the right to associate to your own choice,as granted and described in the SA constitution.

I was born in 1968.Almost zero crime.Children slept in tents in the gardens of there homes with friends. The front doors of the houses were never locked. Cars were left with keys inside Cities were clean, window shopping was a regular activity in nighttime in towns. Then came the new SA.
    The blacks took over
Corruption ,crime, filthy cities, no rules in black schools, blacks move there children to white schools for better education. People must hire security companies, Just one black mess with no law and order
Now leave this people alone, they want to be in a world before everything was fucked up.

I agree with you Mabaso, I think the focus on racism demonstrates a political illiteracy among a lot of our people. We need to have enough critical thinking to know that just because someone is black it doesn't automatically mean your interests are aligned. But I'm also not blind to the reality of Afrikaaner nationalism which still exists in this country and finds expression in places like Orania.
While I recognize this reality, I don't have an issue with it, I don't need all people in the world to love, respect and accept me, that's neither here nor there. I don't need the Oranians to accept me for me to be confident in my own humanity. Like I said, racist attitudes are neither here nor there for me.
I'm concerned about real things. My political positions are based on securing my interests, and of course race plays a part in that but it is not prime, my interests are. So if learning from Orania can advance my interests then I am willing to do it. I'm not governed by emotions.
I actually have a self-determination model I want to start implementing in African villages across the country, starting with where I come from. I think we need to localise everything and communities must be in charge of their own development. Depending on politicians who care nothing for us is not sound. It's a clear demonstration of that political illiteracy I was talking about. If you love yourself you will do good to yourself and those around you. I think this is a fundamental principle for building a self-sustaining community.
There's a lot to learn from Orania, we just need to switch off our emotions for a second and turn on the logical part of our brains lol

Thank you for this video Thomas. Thank you for your insight in this problematic topic. Orania has nothing to do with apartheid. It's all about self‐determination. Black people are feeling inferior when they see a White person going forward. Apartheid is something of the past and the Whites are still going forward without the help of the useless State of SA. One thing that we stand for has nothing to do with thinking I am White and better than you...! No, we strive to be humble and know where our strength and help comes from. We are believers in God almighty through His Son, Jesus Christ and we believe we are led by the Holy Spirit of God. We believe in our culture and our language. This is a winning combination for self-determination. We want to preserve this for our children. This does not interfere with other people or races. Why does Lesufi change into a monster to destroy the Afrikaner and the Afrikaans schools, just because of the past. He and the rest of the looters in the government know that we are better equipped through our knowledge of self-determination and the strive to be on our own without interfering with other cultures and traditions. Leave us to live and leave us to believe in what we want to believe. We know what is the best for us. It is our choice. Why are we as White people a thread for black people of the government? Because we have our faith and our culture and we are not afraid of a man. We do not steal, kill and destroy. I wish more interaction can be done about the life of a white person his needs versus the Black person. God bless you richly.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with expressing one's opinions but if its all about putting others down because they are black while elevating oneself, this doesn't help in the long run. As a black person I don't feel inferior and I hate it when others like you speak for me... I must say this country can do far more better without people like you.

Orania is not unique! It's merely Community Building. It can be based on anything - culture, sports, language, hobbies, religion, music education, profession, ... whether it is a fishing village, a mining village, a farming community, etc... And any two like-minded persons is enough to start a community. Why can't some young African boys make some arrangements with the older land-owners and cultivate some exotic foods that can be delivered directly to the hotels, etc... Or, just start some serious Football or Athletics clubs, or make good music, or just start some little industries ... for the community, first of all. How about just making hot bread? Or just providing Community Security? We need a leader, a good idea, collaboration and dedication to succeed - a co-ordinated group effort. All over SA. ❤
