Everyone please remember he has to make most of this climb three times. Once to set the camera once to make the climb then again to go back after the camera. Luke you are a maniac buddy!!!
I always think, "Man...he goes up to set up the camera, goes back to record, then goes back to grab it then goes back up..." Unreal...
.. If he was smart ,, he would do these with Susie ,, He could film her ahead,, then just catch up ..... besides she's ,,well Susie ..... then we all win ..... Luke included .. (although he already has) ....
Simply amazing, now if we could only get at least 1 other RUclipsr to do anything close to that
It’s not that great of camera work!
@@markodell5466 what video are you watching Mr. Spielberg
Storm camping is the best camping. For those of us who are homebound right now due to physical issues, your adventures become our adventures. Thank you for taking me along!
Exactly 💯. I'm new to his channel and enjoy watching them at night , they help me to sleep .

Couldn’t agree with you more. 50 years ago you couldn’t keep me away from camping in a thunderstorm.
Nail on the head.

5 years ago my autistic son and I became homeless. So we went "camping" for 3 months. These videos helped me through many nights. Gave me great ideas. Y'all were lifesavers and you didn't even know it. May God bless y'all.
God bless you
I sincerely hope you and your are doing well
Hoping you and your son are in a pretty "place"❤❤
When I went to pick up my Hilux Surf, Dan and Paul at Japanese Classics were surprised about how high quality your videos are.
I thought "Luke must be one humble dude if he didn't even mention his RUclips".
Luke...I'm not a camper, but I so enjoy laying down at night and watching your videos. They are so relaxing and wholesome! Thanks!
That’s how I feel watching from the UK.
You make your videos the way Les Stroud does -- walk up, set camera, walk away, walk back, fetch camera, walk away again, and again, and again...lol. All by yourself. It's impressive, and the finished product really shines for it.
Luke, I know you probably get these messages all the time, but I can’t go without saying I really appreciate your honesty!!! You are top notch, and I love watching your content-mostly when you are just talking and being real! You are very appreciated and needed!!!!!!!
Yep
His honesty is top Notch.
My go to channel when Purchasing Gear. His Reviews are Real.👍

Just started watching Lukes channel...& i ❤ it...& i've never camped in my life maybe one day i'll try it 🤣🤣
Me too!!
The best camping trip is when you get set up before the storm hits, enjoy the storm, cook in between waves of the storm, and then the storm ends early enough that everything is dry when you break camp. It rarely happens, but it's so great when it does.
I don't camp, but find Luke's video's fascinating. Thanks Luke for all you do.
You can camp and not even leave home. You don't need a fire pit. Make or buy a stick stove or butane stove. There cheap. A cheap tarp and if there is mosquitoes? A mosquito net. The cushions from a couch work better than any camp mat. I could go on but i think you understand that the imagination is a good tool. Plus collecting the stuff to go camping is the best part. A seance of accomplishment. What dose one get from camping? Because your roughing it. Because not one thing is at your finger tips. Because you have to work at it to make it work. All of that. Makes home seem so much better. The hot shower. The microwave. The oven. The heat or the air conditioning. When you get home and unpack. Nothing will bother you. Not even the kids fighting . Thats what makes camping so worth it. Then there is the pictures or memory of what you did experience that makes it worth it. I recommend all to camp even if its at the park. Less stress as well when you get back home. Even if its your back yard that you camp in.
@@aaronzierke9920 Thank you. I needed to hear that. I watch Luke's video's all the time and just love it. I camped as a kid, and loved the rain hitting the tent.
Luke your videos are the only YT videos I truly look forward to watching. Your attitude is such a breath of fresh air.
I wanted you to know that, because of channels like yours...... not like there are any channels like yours. It has gotten me to get out and explore, not only my area, but new places to hike and camp out. You have taught me a lot about the outdoors. Safety being one of the main things. So I wanted to thank you for all your amazing content. Looking forward to what 2023 brings.
Much respect Luke.
Thank you Luke for taking us along on your adventures. You represent what many of us recognize as strength and honor. I see now that those words are deep in your soul.
You make all of this look so easy. The best thing is your positive attitude. The bad weather better hide when it sees you coming. Stay safe young man and we look forward to your future adventures!!
My favorite part of Cours is always hearing the rain on the tent. love that sound
From someone who has not gone camping , But wants too. I have learn so much from you. My husband is handicap. We do plan on camping sometime, but not without him watching some of these vlogs. Because after he has healed from His back surgery we will go out for several days. Fun city. Thank you a lot!!
Always nice to see an outdoorsman/woman, who hikes out, sets up and spends time outside. So many channels show a guy or gal with some transiting shots, set up. a pan of the location, then the ENTIRE video is them inside the tent in a bag and cooking in the vestibule. Then they wake up, pack up and leave. Luke is actually outside in the weather and talking to us about gear, family, food and environment, which is appreciated. It's maddening to see a 20, 30 or 40 minute video of a dude spending 9 hours inside a hoop tent. Why camp if you refuse to be outdoors? Thank you TOGR for the adventures and the reviews.
Hi Luke all the way from South Africa. I really like watching your adventurers. My husband will joke whenever he hears me watching your videos and say are you camping again. It really feels like I am with you guys. Thank you. Alwaniese
I used to be a "super cold weather camping" kinda dude... "used to be", that's the key phrase there. The older I get, the colder I get. I just CANNOT HANDLE that cold weather like I used to when I was younger.
I've lost a lot of weight in recent years & gained some (extra serious) health problems, so I'm sure that has something to do with it as well. Man I really miss the cold stuff thou. No bugs out, not as many ppl out, not as many predators out, no sweating. Just pushing myself to the limit of survival. A whole lotta fun, but my body just can't cut it anymore. Gotta play it like I'm smart or somethin & be careful these days 😂
Great video & an awesome little spot, thanks for sharing it 👍
BRR. Like many others, I live my camping vicariously through you. I can practically feel the cold. Great vlog.
Yes! I want to see a Susie video! I love it when she goes camping! It's nice to see other women camping. And she is so informed and intelligent when she does her videos. Please ask her to make a video for your channel. yay!
I really appreciate these videos. I miss the outdoors and tent camping. Unfortunately my bad back and legs prevent me from being out there any longer. I am definitely living vicariously through your videos though. Keep up the excellent content!
So lucky to be able to do what most of use can only dream of, thanks for letting us enjoy
Good afternoon and Happy New Year Luke and viewers. My favorite kind of adventure; 🌧
Cheers!
I have much respect for you. Thank you sir for all that you do. I think we have a similar mindset. God bless you and your family

My husband and I watch you all the time. We love you Luke and thank you or your service .
Oklahoma here!! 60 yr old Oklahoma gal !!😊 I always enjoy your videos!! Thank you for sharing your time! Also please tell your daughter thank you for her service!! My husband is a 20 ur Army Vet who is still helping our military from All over !! I’m sure your quite proud of her!! Love how you tell about everything you use while camping!! Your always a joy and a blessing!! Keep on keepin on doing what makes your heart smile!! Love From Oklahoma!! Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!!😊💞
Happy new year from the UK. Love your videos and look forward to you and Suzie being back out together. Just wanted to say I can definitely tell you have been working out, you have put on some bulk x
you make such a good point it’s not always fun but something about the fulfillment that’s keeps you thriving and that’s what life is about, not living but thriving
Outstanding episode. I really like your explanations of why you choose one camp layout over another, one piece of gear over another, etc. The peace and quiet of your campsite was great too. Thanks for the great video!
The inside of that tent looks amazing. You are correct I am also surprised more tent companies don't copy the same lite fighters cold weather kit concept.
I was nodding my head when you talked about going uphill versus down my knees agree with you.
I absolutely love watching these videos in rain, sleet, and snowstorms and how they are handled. Love your unbiased reviews of the equipment as well.
69 years old and I HATE going down stairs but have no issue at all going up those same stairs, so I sympathize, Luke.
Your review of the Carinthia Defence 4 sleeping bag is the reason I purchased thd bag for my stepson for Christmas. I wanted to get a great sleeping bag and thanks to you, I did. Thank you for all you do!
Ever think about camping up here in new England?? Lots of great places to visit and breathtaking views!! 😀
Thanks for the videos! It’s nice hanging out with you on your adventures. Have a great NewYear!
nothing better than naming the 4wd drive Ol Betsy. Betsy never lets ya down.
You probably been asked already but have you thought about taking them knots and burning the ends together ?
Love these stormy weather camp videos. ⛺️👍🏼
I don't know how much post editing you do on your videos but the colors (the soil, the leaves) during the morning rain are so nice.
Mochi is a rice-sweet treat and perfect for your Land Cruiser name. Recouping from surgery, your adventure feels healing to me. May your adventures continue to be exciting and healing in 2023!
Okami is wolf in Japanese. That name fits perfect to that vehicle. 👌
I love to watch you out camping. Me and my husband are getting to old to go. We love watching you and your wife when she goes with you. Take care and God bless you and your family.
You need to call the Land Cruiser ...
"The Mistress".
So you can cake the mistress out for the night or the weekends for some fun...
I camp in my backyard with my little dog...lol
I started watching your videos a few weeks ago.. they are great..watched a few from 5 years ago and discovered we are almost neighbors.. Blountville Tn near Bristol motor speedway..keep up the great work...
I'm an experienced camper, but for the people who are new to camping, you might want to explain to them how to use the bathroom in the woods camping where there is not one available. Like digging a hole near something to put your back against.
A good tip for these zipper pulls.
Use a piece of shrink wrap tube to secure them. Will stay in place for years.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY Luke thank you for sharing your adventures
The best part is watching the rain fall in the forest and the sound of raindrops falling on the tent, great video 💚
Tks for all you do Luke....keep on keeping on...100^...we appreciate your hard work ..your a good guy and ramp it up bro..haha on to the next adventure bro!!! 😎 Strength & Honor my American cousin....🇨🇦
Hey Luke👍👍 No need to worry about critters coming around, they know when to hunker down😉 Liking that tent but at 6'5" I'm afraid it's too small, bummer as it looks decent. Knowing what the weather was supposed to do, I'd have brought two stoves(different types), 2 is 1 and 1 is none mantra... Like watching you continuously put yourself through hell on these windy, rainy adventures. Gotta give you credit for having the fortitude to keep on getting out there. Thanks for the hard work and bringing me along. Enjoy!
Wishing you, Luke, Susie, Lucas and Madison a very happy New Year! Thank you Luke. With that weather, you are in your element. Looking forward to 2023 as well. Be safe and well my friend.
I always seem to enjoy your "shout outs".
Warm Regards from Reno Nevada.
Happy New Year! Glad to hear your daughter is well. You should do an adventure with her when she comes home this year. Your old hikes with her were awesome!
I love this guy and his videos. He will live forever! I am 71 and stopped camping many years ago but I love watching what he does. So much fun
Very good! Love the patter of the rain on the tent. Semper Fi!
I am not an outdoors man ill be the first to admit, but there is something extremely relaxing about these videos. Seems like a real nice guy as well!
"FIND A WAY".... Absolutely perfect ending. Great video and if you come back out on the SOBX, give us a yell!
I don't think it's a matter of going up or coming down Luke. I think it's the fact that you do it two or three times in the course of filming a video that makes it hurt just that much more. Your sacrifices on the other hand have paid off in the quality of your videos, your content is well produced yet not over produced. Thanx for the content my friend, it's a pleasure to watch. Your unbiased reviews and testing also speaks volumes and then there are the adventures. What more can one say but, great job!
P.S. Almost forgot, all the best to you and yours in the new year. Happy New years!
Thanks, Luke, for another Storm Camping Adventure you always make awesome videos keep up the great work
You got me. Really appreciate the videos man, I’ve purchased some of the gear you have reviewed, and it has performed just as you have said. Thank you for being so honest and transparent. Keep enjoying what you do and putting out content. I for one will be watching!
Yes!! A trip with Susie, please and thank you. Another fabulous video, Luke. Thanks, for all you do.
I appreciate how straightforward you are, especially when it comes to reviews. You don't play!
I just turned 42. I also have a crooked back and was Army for 12 years so my back and knees are shot out pretty well. I don't mind up or downhill as much unless the uphill is SUPER steep. I also have mostly been using surplus gear, but lighten the load as much as I can. ALICE pack weighed in at 25lbs without my 1 gallon of water before my last trip. I also wear LBV which weighs about 10-15lbs.
I love hiking and camping. Been doing it all my life. I am looking at getting my weight down. My gear's weight also...
Oh Luke! I’m glad you had fun but when I realized which storm and cold front you were talking about I was thinking “Man!! Get off that mountain!!!” Thanks for the video! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
I have been watching some Korean and Japanese's campers and they have luxury tents that sleep many people with beds. They have some great car camping stuff that would fit your Japanese car great.
Freezing rain storm! I can’t watch this until afternoon coffee time!
Ur using my favorite tent, i seen ur first video with this tent and bought one immediatly and i love it!!
I always enjoy these adventures, I'd love to see another adventure from Susie too. 👍
I always find your cold weather camping very interesting, mostly because I live in a very hot and humid environment in Australia's Northern Territory! Our seasons are opposite to yours which means your winter is our summer......but we don't have summer in the Northern Territory....we have Build Up and then Wet Season. It is basically too hot and humid to camp at this time of year....like,really hot and humid....if it is not raining, it will be around 35c with close to 90% humidity! Very hard to sleep!
Hi Luke, you just can beat the sound of rain pounding the flysheet. Thanks for sharing atb Taff 🤠👊
Firebox Nano works well as a stand for the Evernew burner. If you want to simmer you put the pot right on the burner and block the inner ring. I'm quite fond of the small twig stoves and used correctly they punch way above their weight. When you don't need too much it's amazing the tiny amount of fuel you can get away with. I'll even bring pellets sometimes instead of using gas of liquid fuel. Even if I have some other stuff that's also the main emergency fuel in my car.
I agree, surprised he viewed that stove as a gimmick. Especially in a survival situation, you may only have the option to burn sticks. The Firebox guy cooks full meals with the twigs.
@@user-dr4xv5zn8s Yeah. I have them all, but first thing I did with my Nano when I got it was to run it with both small lump charcoal as well as the two briquettes I could fit in there. You can do a lot with just that, but with the larger stove it's pretty endless, really. If all you need to do is cook a small meal or heat a bit of eater for one person you can get by with this and such a small amount of fuel it's just funny.
Happy New Year! So happy you had your son with you for holiday break. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures. Hope y’all get to spend time with your daughter too. Take care!
You hardly ever build a fire anymore. That’s the best thing of camping.
Hey Luke. Thank you for helping me decide on a hot tent stove. 1:02
I really appreciate all the videos of your adventures that you put up on here Luke. I've never been much of an outdoorsy person but you're changing my mind and actually inspiring me to take on my own adventures and even get my girlfriend involved. Thank you for all your hard work and sacrifice when it comes to bringing us this content it really means the world to us. :)
My wife and I always went camping in January or February. We always had the campground to ourselves and if the lakes were froze over the sounds at night ate unbelievably other worldly
I always just take a lighter to the cordage knots on my steaks or tent zippers to help mend them together. keeps that knot from coming lose!🤘🏻 hope you had great holidays! As always keep up the great work! You're videos are some of mine and my fiancé favorites to watch! 😎😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
Here in australia, my foster parents, they finished up with me when i turned 18, then retired, sold their 4 bedroom house, the car, and everything in the house/around it. Used that money to buy a camper van and a new 4wd, and are now nomadic and doing a round trip around the country to start.
Just came back from Big Bend National Park. Was a great trip one in which tested my 2016 Toyota 4 Runner which did great on the back roads. It is beautiful rugged country mountains up to around 8,000 ft.. This time of year is cooler without the wet that happens during the spring months. Summer is hot 110 or better at times. Trees are non extant but the wild life and the lack of light makes the night time outstanding for star gazing. We did not do primitive camping, not my Wife's cup of tea but I would in a second. Just know you have to make reservations to camp and I can bet your new Toyota would be perfect for the off road trails. As well there are hiking trails too numerous to count. The best of both worlds of primitive camping.
On another note, watch just about everything you put out. Looks like a lot of work doing all that by yourself. Thanks for the reviews.
Love your sense of humor!!!
Previous Cruiser owner. Called mine LAND CRUSHER. ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS A BUNCH. WISH I WASN’T almost 71 as I so enjoyed four wheeling and camping when in late teens and early twenty’s. Keep up the great videos. Be careful. Be safe.
Yup, going down hill is rough on the knees. My brother is big on tarps. On awful windy hiking campouts he has saved the day with a tarp. When we car camp it's the giant 12 x 15 tarp(something like that). We have put six people under it during a huge rain storm. We played cards, played music, chatted and had a great time while it was pouring. The trick is to know how to put a "flag pole" under the tarp that keeps it stable and won't fall down. Tie the tarp off first and then put a pole under it that keeps it taunt. Standing on the truck tailgate enabled us to get the tarp height we needed. You don't have to tie off the pole, the tension keeps it in place. 12ft tall pole. Don't mean to hog the comments. Like Luke said, without a tarp your trapped in your tent.
I’m not sure what is about your videos but whenever I watch I start out just watching. About halfway through, I’m putting on a sweatshirt and socks. Next thing I know, I’m under at least one blanket and by the end I’m looking for a hat and that is all from my recliner. Guess that means they are incredibly realistic. Thanks for the adventure. Keep on keeping on.
😂😂
The corded pulls came undone on our military tents as well. They always came off our sleeping bags. They really were really useless. Most the time we replaced them with 550 cord. Most everything we had came from the lowest bidder anyways lol
Happy New Year from east Texas. Y'all definitely need to come to Texas. This is the perfect time to visit, before it gets hot again.
I live in North Central Texas. Nice day here. The breez is kinda cool, but if you can stay out of the breez, and in the sunshine, it's a nice day.👍
I live in North Texas. Nice to see someone else from Texas!

Love your videos and keep on trekking
But can you afford that in the US?
I can and Luke probably can also.
Happy New Year Luke and Susie! May God bless you both!
I would LOVE to go camping with a woodburning stove tent IN THE SNOW, but I live in TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I quit making resolutions a long time ago - because ive never been able to completely full fill them- so i try to go with the flow and let chips fall where they might - and at 74 ive had enough adventures for my lifetime - ive survived being shot at both in the military and civilian and have been run over by a forest fire lol and by the grace of God im still here- thank u Lord

good warm and the storms at night like almost every single night
Thank you for another great video
I love the Land Cruiser - I'd figure out the stove and sink and keep those original and in working order. I know you will keep them on hand in case you sell it one day - but I would make use of them now.

Good stuff Luke, ty for posting.
