As a new dad at 42, it hits different than my first at 32😂 new levels of exhaustion but new levels of appreciation and love. Don’t have that Land Cruiser yet but I put a lot of love into my F150
My son is 3. We have a 1994 LandCruiser that I purchased a few months ago. I've loved your videos for awhile now but this one really is perfect and I aspire to have vehicle tuned to the point that my son and I and my wife can go on explorations and enjoy ourselves like this. Please keep it up. I'm 40 next year. So I'm hoping I can keep up the energy to keep up with him.
I'm 39 as well. 3rd kid due in April. Getting in good physical shape so I can be the best parent possible. I wish you the best with the one you have coming! I have a Tacoma and an old Wrangler. An old Land Cruiser would be awesome. Tempting. Cheers! 🍻
Rest in peace Jim Larkin. I've never met him but from that quote I feel as though I already know what type of man he is. I hope he's doing great up in heaven.
I've got the same engine (done by the same shop that did yours) in my 1987 Landcruiser Troopcarrier, and due to the road noise, I put mass-loaded vinyl 3/8" from the firewall to the back of the cargo area, loaded the stud walls with wool insulation. It lowered road noise substantially! Love this content. Keep it up.
thanks you for sharing this video ! my dad has a 4 runner back in 2000s , and last week he was in emergency room for heart surgery. thanks god he is okay @@ watching this make me miss my dad so much @@ he live in north dakota , while i am in camboida . 14,075 km a way plus a road drive @@ .
I didn’t realize the long term refinement/ modification seeking perfection of my 4R has been in the pursuit of the fathership - beautiful expression of what it is - thank you.
What an amazing video. And the amount of work/research that goes into this is understated...10 years. Makes me feel better about my van not being fully customized yet. 5 years in... time to pull the trigger. Thanks Van.
You and Casey are the real Kearouacs of this world. Keep that shit up. We are in need, fourth turning and all. I'm from Brazil and this type of savagery is always admired and rare. Again, the fact you quoted your friend at the end says more than anything. Great video as always. Thank you.
I think I have the same shovel. One does not understand the importance of a proper shovel. Finding the right shovel is an adventure all in and of itself.
Love those truck’s videos ! Happy owner of a Land Cruiser LJ73 ‘89, absolutely love it and the kids (and dog) too. Not as equipped as yours but you inspired me to have the bare minimum at least. Thanks Van
Can you do a video on a proper first aid kit? I just lost mine and keep thinking to my self, "what would Van put in his home first aid kit, or his car first aid kit, would he have a studio first aid kit?, or one on his bike? Thank you for the timeless lessons Van!
Wow, that brought back memories. Much simpler now that kids have moved on. My vehicle of choice way back when was a 1970 GMC Jimmy that on it’s third restoration today and rock’n much less gear...lol
This is awesome. I hope to have a set up as dialed as this one day. Would be cool to learn more about what's in the "gentleman's toolkit" in your console, it seems like a good present to give to people who wouldn't otherwise make one for themselves. Cheers!
You could also use a lot of sound damping on the interior panels. Butyl and mass-loaded vinyl paired together can cut 15-20dBA out of the cabin, very dependent on specifics, but regardless, any damping will help.
Van, you`d make a great overlander. Your meticulous organization skills, diligence and sense of adventure are the perfect ingredients. I can already imagine a series in which you turn this land cruiser in the perfect machine for camping and be self sufficient on the road
This Spirited Man kept his sons change of clothes in a dry bag in the trunk. This is the best move in case of #1 and #2 accidents. Readiness and containment are key.
I love the truck and the personality you gave it by making it your truck. Your solutions are always very practical. Not the prettiest, but authentic. Its so sad that it is more expensive to make a old car work with a new engine than replacing it entirely. Love the old bmw as well.
Sounds like Isabel loves her lotion. And a MyMedic FAK! Wait. You bought that from my website, right? As for a fire? I drove right through a fire in Mt Madonna, Santa Cruz mountains a few years back (2014). The road was actually on fire. Scary. Thanks Van. I always enjoy your stories.
This is the first video I've seen of Van's after watching Casey's chennel for like ever! I can see where Casey gets his influences, and I can also see how Van's style is influenced by Wes Anderson, of whom I am also a huge fan.
Jim died at the age of 74...and the older I get, the younger 74 seems to be. I'm sorry for your loss. Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your next child...my all go well for Mama and family.
You're a great dad. My dad could never remember my name (only 2 sons) and never packed us road sushi soy sauce 🙂 Have a great holiday season to you and your family (lotion or not!)
This is the level of personalization I aspire to. Whether a truck or home office, built it around your peculiarities.
Such a pleasure to watch... Value things, objects and stuff in such a way... Also this thing of hiding animals for other kids to find...
Soy sauce for road sushi in a dropper bottle is the most pro move I've ever seen.
They must smash sushi hahaha
fr
Congrats on the new human, and showing what 1% better can look like.
As a 35 year (and counting) LandCruiser owner, and a new dad at age 49 and 52, I see you brother. I see good choices and fun times. 👏🏼
As a new dad at 42, it hits different than my first at 32😂 new levels of exhaustion but new levels of appreciation and love. Don’t have that Land Cruiser yet but I put a lot of love into my F150
I can’t think of “anything” he isn’t prepared for…. 🤷♂️
"Animals to bury at playground for other kids to find"...genius!
These videos feel like a warm hug from my papa and countless hours in his shop. Thank you.
Amazed at the ability to turn something as simple as the contents of a truck into an entertaining story.
Man-there’s something so earthly/grounding about these videos. Absolutely love this stuff Van!

Since I drove a Land Cruiser in Marocco through the sand dunes of the sahara desert it is all I can think about. Your car is the dream 🔥
Rest in peace Jim Larkin. I've never met him but from that quote I feel as though I already know what type of man he is. I hope he's doing great up in heaven.
Learning through experience is much more valuable than learning through education.
As Mel Brooks said to David Lynch after a screening of Eraserhead, "You're a madman. I love it!"

Ooh, good to know
👍 well done!
that dude took the glider right to the noggin

This is my favorite type of van neistat content. Idk what it is.

A great privilege to get a further glimpse into where the spirited man's spirit originates from. Thanks for letting the world in to watch with you.
What an amazing video. And the amount of work/research that goes into this is understated...10 years.

let's hope they are not the kerouacs of this world, since kerouac drank himself to death before he even reached Van's age
So Happy the Boy will have Siblings, congratulations to one Happy Family of devoted LANDCRUISERS 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦☮️☮️☮️👣👐
I think I have the same shovel. One does not understand the importance of a proper shovel. Finding the right shovel is an adventure all in and of itself.
This video makes me smile in a way I can hardly describe.
I've seen this beautiful truck many times on my weekend motorcycle rides! Nice meeting you on the bike path btw!
Love those truck’s videos ! Happy owner of a Land Cruiser LJ73 ‘89, absolutely love it and the kids (and dog) too. Not as equipped as yours but you inspired me to have the bare minimum at least. Thanks Van
Saved this as a checklist for the gear I'm gonna have in my Pilot
The composition and the story, it all amounts to such engaging cinema.
You are one of my favorite storytellers. You have been for some time. This is great. Thank you.

Nice setup! I also have a milk crate in the back off my 86 4Runner TDI swap
Wow, that brought back memories. Much simpler now that kids have moved on. My vehicle of choice way back when was a 1970 GMC Jimmy that on it’s third restoration today and rock’n much less gear...lol
Great one Van. I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.
Congratulations on the baby Van and Isabel!
Beautiful pace and cadence to film, beautiful cruiser
Congrats on the new kid, he/she is lucky to have you as a father
I love this Wes Anderson vibes going on, you are quite the inspiration as a parent and a human.
This is awesome. I hope to have a set up as dialed as this one day. Would be cool to learn more about what's in the "gentleman's toolkit" in your console, it seems like a good present to give to people who wouldn't otherwise make one for themselves. Cheers!
There’s a whole video about it. Go diggin and you’ll find it. I think it might be my favorite video on this channel.
Fantastic video! Congratulations on the soon to be new addition to the family!
This made me smile, in part because of all those things I have in my fj62 too. Yeah, it's a glove box.
i'm gonna paraphrase Jim's quote: "Learning through INSPIRATION..." thanks for that.
Vans life in a truck, more like “vanlife “ I could see Van buying or building a sleeper van and can imagine all the DIY 👌🏼👌🏼
Epic. 😍
Hadn’t thought of the angle grinder as a truck tool, but makes perfect sense if you live in a wild fire zone. 🔥💭
So zen and the art of Landcruiser maintenance. got it.
I think this is the perfect RUclips video.
If I had this many things in my car I would not know I had that many things in my car 😅 - I would need to make a video as a reminder!
CONGRATULATIONS on the new intra-uterine alien! Hope all goes well with the pregnancy. God bless!
this was incredibly beautiful, in many ways. thank you.

You've put together something incredible here. Rest in Peace to Jim as well.

This is the way... Midwest Winter liver + old NCO approved!
Congrats man!!
Loved the Zissou reference
Congrats to you guys. Good health and blessings to you all!
Condolences on your loss and congratulations on the next kid! Bit of a roller coaster at the end there.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 Van!!!! and as always thanks for inspiring with your creativity!
This Spirited Man kept his sons change of clothes in a dry bag in the trunk. This is the best move in case of #1 and #2 accidents. Readiness and containment are key.
Wow, another baby on the way and you just casually dropped that but maybe I'm hopelessly behind in my SM watching. I adore you and your family, Van.
I love the truck and the personality you gave it by making it your truck. Your solutions are always very practical. Not the prettiest, but authentic.
Its so sad that it is more expensive to make a old car work with a new engine than replacing it entirely.
Love the old bmw as well.
I've taken a lot of inspiration from you and your videos over the years and I can see the similarities in my truck (Xterra) setup. Thank you!
Congratulations!!! Kids are a gift
Congratulations on the baby!

I mean he did that on purpose.
They both take their aesthetic from Tom Sachs who they worked for (Van still does sometimes)
Congratulations on your soon to be second born🎉 that is exciting news ❤
Your content is therapy for me 😮💨
I have an 80 series, Cruisers for life!!!
I love This vehicle!
Thanks for the tour Van Zizzou!
Congratulations on the fatherhood. You’re doing it right! Had my daughter at 47. Being an older dad has been the best ever?
The FJ40 is my dream truck. But then I realized that reliability is worth more than style so I have a older CR-V which I love and can take anywhere.
Wooo congrats on the pregnancy!!! So excited for you!
congrats Van! wishing you the best ❤
Love my 80...wish I had kept my 60!
I just realized on my n-teenth rewatch that you can spot Casey at 1:12 in the reflections of the sunglasses setting up the shots
the life aquatic reference was wonderful van! great video!
He's so geeky and quirky I love it! Perfect owner for one of these. 😂
Jim died at the age of 74...and the older I get, the younger 74 seems to be. I'm sorry for your loss. Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your next child...my all go well for Mama and family.
Why are you so good at making these videos, Van? I love them and I thank you.
Congratulations on the new kid.🎉
the level of detail is beautiful
Congrats on the baby news!
Congratulations on the pregnancy! It's a beautiful thing!
"Nevermind what's in there." Well, now that's the part of the truck that interests us the most.
ANOTHER BABY ON THE WAY!!! Get it man!! Congratulations!!!🍾🎊
Congrats on the upcoming new addition!
That Life Aquatic intro hit hard
Awesome, informative and wholesome
