Does anyone know why the growth rate is different for two leopard tortoises same size when I bought them in October 2021. They were both the size of my palm and now, after 6 months one of them is doubled in size than the other.

Sometimes they just grow differently or could be gender?

Are the other tortoises Aldabra tortoises? They look similar.

No I don't have any Aldabra Tortoises but I wish I did 😔

@@JonsPrehistoricpets could I ask what species are the ones that look like young Aldabra tortoises? They are lovely , and I would like to look into them more . Seem to be a more manageable size :)

@@markfairman162 probably the Spur-thighed Tortoises but I'm not sure it would be worthwhile looking at some of my other videos this might help you identify them :)

I have one leopard tortoise she's large now her shell isn't so high, her back legs look so flat I worry if she's healthy but the vet says she is but she doesn't rise up on four legs, BTW I've heard lettuce is like junk food for tortoises.

Do you add calcium to the diet? Also yes, lettuce and these greens aren't so good for leopards. Grasses and wild weeds are much better.
I have some tortoise videos on my channel, leopards included

Hi again Tony, most of my tortoises have lived mostly together for over 5 years, I do quarantine any new arrivals for at least 3 months. And I will separate any that have different food requirement when necessary . they are happy heathy Tortoises. Thanks

@@JonsPrehistoricpets hi different species of tortoise carry there own pathogens I believe that mixing species can and is known to create illnesses when mixed species are kept together. It seems you have been lucky not to of suffered this situation. Keep up the good care you give them.

That diet is wrong way to much salad 70% of there diet should be grasses. Salad has very little or even zero nutritional value.

Thanks Tony for your comment, I assure you they get plenty of grass and weeds as they have free access to an outdoor area throughout the summer months, I also collect lots of weeds like Dandelion, plantain, clover and I grow edible flowers like pansy, nasturtiums etc thanks for your concern.
